This location is closed. The other two locations may soon follow as I just learned they had a roach infestation and operated under unsanitary conditions according to board of health. This is not the Pollmans you may remember from the bygone days with delicious fresh cakes, pastries and other baked goods with friendly, helpful staff. The quality now is horrible and customer service is even worse, a tone set by the new owners with a "take it or leave it" attitude. Imagine a custom order cake that wasn't ready on time, is defective in appearance, tastes like stale, dry cornbread with greasy icing being handed to you by grimacing counter staff who look as if they want to be somewhere else far away. This was my last experience buying a custom cakes there. Other experiences were just as dismal, but not going back now after finding out about the roaches. I was yearning for the Pollmans from my past and tolerating subpar goods and treatment. No more! Go somewhere else like I am - plenty of other custom bakeries that actually want our business with tasty goods and clean work environments. read more

Downtown on the square, this is more of a lunchtime drop in market. The one on Broad St is one of the oldest places where they do all of their cooking but this place is a convenient stop when you are downtown! Early in the morning looking for a breakfast sandwich or a sweet to start your day? Lunchtime looking for a good chicken salad or a sweet to get your sugar up? This is the place! Super easy to get in and out, why wouldn't you stop here? Some of our favorites at Pollman's are... #1 CHOCOLATE or STRAWBERRY DOBERGE! For a special celebration throughout the year, we love the chocolate doberge and the strawberry doberge! This is the only place I have ever gotten it and I am spoiled for life! What is it about the doberge that I like so much? The rum flavored icing on the and the pecans in the icing on the chocolate one has a really different taste that is very delightful. The fruit filling in the strawberry takes the cake! #2 Petit fours little bite sized chunk of cake, iced on all sides, with a cute design on top of each one. In my pictures you will see the Christmas wreath but they have different designs for all occasions. #3 COOKIES! We love a SANTA CLAUS cookie at Christmas but any time of the year is the right time for Pollman's cookies. Delicious icing, fun shapes, and a just the right balance of crunch and chew make these cookies one of our favorite treats all year long! If you haven't been before, do yourself a favor! read more

I was very disappointed in their lemon flavored King cake. Very dry and there was a very small drop of lemon flavor in it. I tried it because I heard this bakery won best in king cakes at the King cake contest. I drove from Milton Fl to get one. read more

The roast beef po-boy was so flippin good, and so was the bacon maple donut. Stopped by this place because my grandmother worked her for 20 years of her life a long time ago, so it was a special stop. This probably means I'm a little biased but if it helps no one there remembered her. Honestly the reason I couldn't give 5 stars was just because the place was a little run down. It could use a facelift, but everything was priced really well. The food was good and the people were nice. It's nothing fancy but it's dang tasty! read more

I went in to Pollman's Bake Shop downtown, Mobile. To grab some soup. (Chicken Gumbo) NOT GOOD at all. I usually go to the one on Broad Str. to get the Chicken Gumbo but I decided to pop in the the one downtown. It was so watery and had little to no chicken in the soup. I noticed that the young lady gave me it looked like a half of spoon of rice. I just figured it was still going to be some good soup. I was wrong. I'll just continue to go to the one on Broad Str. Pollman's is a nice bakery located downtown at the bottom of the Banktrust building. Nice spot to grab a sandwich for lunch, afternoon deserts or a beverage. The service is fast and friendly. They made a custom cake for my son's birthday and it turned out great. However my recent experience was not as delightful. I decided to take a morning stroll to pick up a muffin from Pollman's and decided to get a blueberry muffin. Once I got back to the office I bit into the muffin that was "blueberry-less". I've been coming here throughout the week for sweets and/or sandwiches and I really wanted to like this place but there's too many negatives. For starters, they don't have a menu or prices listed so it's kind of hard knowing their menu without being a mind reader. They don't offer a choice of cheese, veggies or condiments for a $7.50 sandwich. The 2 employees aren't personable and they don't greet any of their customers, but they will thank you for spending your money. The credit card machine takes at least 2 minutes for each swipe and that's if it goes through the first time. And my personal favorite is that they don't offer a military discount and the only reason I mention this is because law enforcement and firefighters receive appreciation but nothing for our men and women in the armed forces. On the plus side, the danishes are very good. read more

This downtown bake shop is the best! I used to work downtown and always loved stopping by during lunch. The employees have always been chatty and super friendly any time we have gone in, and everything I have gotten there is delicious. My favorites are their frosted cookies for all the various holidays, and their chocolate dobash (not sure of the spelling?!) cake. It's a chocolate lovers dream! read more
