Amazing donuts! Sugar Rush was worth the stop on the way to Dauphin Island (and just a short drive away, if you're staying on the island!). They have a wide selection and something to fit everyone's tastes, and the doughnuts were incredible soft and fluffy. While the donuts are definitely the highlight here, they also have a variety of drink offerings to choose from. Service was great and the shop offers indoor seating so you can enjoy your snack or catch up with a friend. Unfortunately we didn't get to try the doughnuts. We didn't get to experience the service and we didn't get to feel the vibe of the place. A notice of closure until 1/2 was written on the door but the hours were not updated on any site that we looked at. We were very disappointed. Update!!! The owner reached out to me!!! Sugar Rush is the place to go on your way to Dauphin Island or Mobile for some coffee, donuts, or even 'bubble tea' (in asterisks because this drink is neither bubbly nor tea). First, since I abhor the taste of coffee, I was attracted to this place because of the unique drink called bubble tea. It can be any of a couple dozen fruity flavors, from peach to pineapple to passion fruit, and the drink itself is the equivalent of a slushy, smoothie, or sometimes a milk tea. The bubble part of the equation comes in the form of pea sized tapioca pellets that gives this drink its unique texture and consistency. I recommend trying the passion fruit or star fruit (if they're not out!). Now the donuts. After I had been here a few times for my daily dose of bubble tea, I noticed a donut that stops the heart of any pork lover: BACON donuts. These donuts are covered in multiple strips of bacon and have a maple syrup frosting that blends well with the saltiness of the bacon. 5 stars are automatic just for the bacon donuts, but the rest of their baked and drink items are superb as well. So glad we now have a donut shop in the Bayou! Got our first batch today and the office loved it. Donuts were hot and delicious. I warn you though, do come early if you want their donuts. They run out quick. We got in at 9am and the selection was minimal. They said they'll probably add a second afternoon batch if this trend continues.
