We have spent some time in Moab previously but this was our first time to eat at this grill. They were busy and while we were seated right away it was about 10 minutes before our server came to the table. We asked about the soup of the day, the server had to go ask what it was. We think she was not the regular server as she didn't seem to know much about the menu. The kids ordered their standard grilled cheese. My wife ordered fish and fries with a side salad. I ordered the hot sliced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes, gravy, and southwestern corn. She brought our drinks and the kids were in adult size glasses with no lids; not cool. And the thing we always dread happened, our 3 yr old granddaughter spilled her drink, all over my jacket and pants. I had time to go the restroom and try to dry off my pants and our food was still not there. When it did arrive, mine was excellent and the serving size was more than i could eat. The kids grilled cheese were better than expected with two kinds of cheese. My wife's salad came topped with black olives and tomatoes. She doesn't like black olives and found it strange to come with the salad. She said the fish was okay. Obviously frozen, not breaded there. The serving size was more than she could eat as well (4 generous pieces and plenty of fries). Since the kids ate pretty well, we said they could get dessert. The server said they had pumpkin pie, cherry and peach cobbler. We ordered pumpkin pie for one child (ended up being pumpkin cheesecake). The cherry cobbler was homemade and hit the spot for me. The kids ate most of their cheesecake. The meal was fairly expensive for lunch, even with dessert. For the 4 of us, it was sightly over $50.00. This was a decent place to eat, next time I think we will try breakfast. From the signs and what people were eating around us, breakfast must be what they primarily do, regardless of the time of day. We would eat here again but will probably try another place next time just because they have so many different places to eat in Moab. read more

The former location of Smithy's Golden Steakhouse is now occupied by the Moab Grill. Open daily from 6am to 10pm, this new restaurant offers an extensive breakfast, lunch and dinner menu; comfort food diner meets grill with fine flavor. Acting as consultants for the Grill are Scott and Alexa Laws, the former owners of the Lamplight Restaurant of Monticello, Utah. Three of us went there for dinner (specials featured every night), were greeted immediately by the hostess, seated and introduced to our waiter, John. We started off the meal with Roasted Potato Skins appetizer; sadly, it was a disappointing start to our meal. While there was a definite taste of potato and green onion, the flavors of bacon and cheese were completely lost. Not even the addition of salt and sour cream gave any improvement to this appetizer. Meals come with a choice of cup of soup, side salad or fries. On Fridays, New England Clam Chowder is the soup of the day. While nicely seasoned, loaded with clams and potatoes, the soup itself was very thin. Alexa, however, noticed this quickly and remarked that it was thicker and that the cook must have thinned it out. She was going to make sure it was done properly from now on. My husband's side salad was larger than the usual side salads in most restaurants; leafy greens with slices of red onion and tomato; very fresh tasting. The Buffalo Ribeye was perfectly cooked and well seasoned; the yam came with a delicious cinnamon butter which was absolutely delicious also with the side of Texas toast. The macaroni and cheese was gooey with several cheeses, however needed a little more salt and some black pepper for flavoring. The Roast Turkey platter was thinly sliced REAL roasted turkey, not that cold cut mess many restaurants serve. The gravy was rich with turkey flavor, mashed potatoes creamy and smooth and the Mexicali corn was a vibrant touch. The Patty Melt is a classic with a medium cooked burger, grilled onions, Swiss cheese on Texas Toast. The side chosen was thick, skin on, fries, just crisped on the outside and deliciously fluffy on the inside. Although we were comfortable after our meal, we could not resist taking home a slice of Alexa's Chocolate Cake. $8.95 might sound pricey, but the slice of cake is huge, equaling two slices anywhere else. Alexa's cake is the same that she was famous for at the Lamplight; and if you're looking for a cake for a special occasion, or just to splurge on, consider getting one of these. We would definitely give Moab Grill another go; especially breakfast where we have heard they make a killer French Toast coated with crushed frosted flakes. With the Laws as consultants, and if the owners seriously listen to them, this could become one of the bright spots in Moab. read more

This is one of the most disappointing places I've been to since restaurants reopened from Covid. There's no ambiance, service is slow and the food is bland or worse. Mashed potatoes were gluey and lukewarm with chunks, my husband's steak was cold and was supposed to be medium rare. It was bloody, rare and cold. Prices were supposed to be $10 -$20 a plate. Nope, try about $17 - $35.. How on earth it received a 4.1 rating is mystery. read more

It's a nice grill place. We bumped in bc we drove by and saw the nice atmosphere in there, so decided to give it a try. When we walked in, there's live music and the guy knows his business well and we like his music and singing. For food, the garlic chicken wing is yummy with all the garlic flavor. New York strip is nice tasting and recommending that. I ordered the slow roast which is not that impressive. The meat is dry and tasteless for me, with mashed potato and corns. And its fun on the menu it says it's Utah law to serve food with alcohol:p read more

One of the few places open at 8:30 pm on a holiday Monday. Looked inviting, kinda busy. Was promptly greeted, brought to a booth where i was brought some water...then forgotten. Admittedly, there was a tour bus full of French people scattered throughout the establishment trying to get dessert and settle bills. I respect that my server copped to it, then more than made up for it by giving me three sides instead of the usual two. Started with a white bean and bacon soup that went a long way toward warding off the chill that came with nightfall. The ribeye was perfect: flavorful, yummy. The roast potatoes: meh, dry, I could see it was seasoned, but couldn't taste it. The seasonal vegetables were good. What I really appreciated abt this place was the teamwork. I see where many yelpers report poor service, and when I was forgotten, I thought, "oh boy, here we go" but once I popped back on the the communal register, it seems everyone working the floor came by to make sure I was good. An Asian lady, Evelyn, was working tables around me and Demaine(?) was clearing tables; everyone was great checking in, refilling carafes of both watermelon tea and the water. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Will likely swing by next time I'm in town, see if we can't bump up the rating read more

My husband and I went to eat at Moab Grill recently and had a horrible experience. Bottom line up front: the head waitress was rude, extremely unprofessional, called us names loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear, and told us to never return to Moab. In addition, some of the staff did not exhibit good personal hygiene and the food was bland. I do not recommend this place. When we arrived, we asked if we could eat outside with our dog, but they said "no" because they had inspection issues. I then attempted to order take out. I asked if we could purchase wine and beer to go and I was told "yes". When I picked up my order and paid, I noticed that they charged me for a beer, but did not provide it. When I asked about the charge, she said that beer cannot be taken to go and that was "illegal" and that the waitress who made the mistake and charged me was "only 17 years old". When I explained that I did not want to be charged for something that I was not given, I was called "crazy" in front of the rest of the customers. She later told my husband not to return to Moab. Clearly, the staff are not well trained, there is poor management, and staff are extremely unwelcoming to tourists. This soured our entire experience at Moab. Recommend avoiding this establishment. read more

Sunday... Big Game was on and place looked like it was about to close, but once we walked in we were greeted warmly by staff and were sat down to watch the halftime show and some of the 3rd quarter. Tried the pastrami sandwich that had thick pastrami and a fried egg, I am not a big egg person on sandwichs but complements to the cook, sandwich was so good. One platinum blonde waitress did not wear her mask and yelled over the food for additional sides. Come on ppl! This is how viruses spread. So there were some good things and some not-so-good things. I tried the half rack ribs plate. It was cooked well and fell off the bone but otherwise nothing else really stood out to me. I had the grilled salmon, baked yam with brown sugar butter and mixed veggies. Everything was very good. The yam could have been cooked a little more but everything was delish. My husband had the pot roast dinner with mashed potatoes and southwestern corn. He said the pot roast and potatoes were great but he wasn't crazy about the red peppers in the corn. We also had an order of onion rings to start with. They were very good, crispy and not greasy, but we didn't get many for the money. The service was spot on and very friendly. We had breakfast here twice -- once because it's connected to our motel so it's super convenient, and once because we tried other places but they were either closed or seriously packed on a Sunday morning. (We sent back to the motel out of frustration and decided to go here again even though it had been totally mediocre the day before.) Both times, the food was "meh." It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Hash browns lacked flavor and the meats were really greasy. Pancakes and French toast were decent but nothing special. The coffee was bad the first time and TERRIBLE the second time. The tropical fruit bowl is canned fruit, which isn't surprising given the price. Still, I'm glad the waitress told me when I tried to order it -- that info changed my mind and saved me some disappointment. The service was better the first time than the second, but we waited waaaaay too long for initial waitress contact both times. read more

Food was below average. Coffee was erratic between too strong and too weak. Forgotten yogurt took 10 minutes to correct. For pete's sake, there are empty tables and people standing around!
