Those of us from NJ see "diner" and we salivate. We know good diners. This unfortunately was not that good. Diners have comfort foods. This diner certainly did. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was pleasant. They had burgers, etc. My husband and I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with french fries. What could be bad right? The fries had NO flavor. No salt, just bland potatoes. Picture a time when you're running late and toast two pieces of bread and put a slice of American cheese between the toast. Now serve it with bland, saltless fries and you've got what we ate for lunch. I guess Moab is not known for their diners. read more

Stopped in for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised. The place felt like our local IHOP, but had quirky decor (and in my personal opinion) better food. Prices were reasonable and I enjoyed my buckwheat pancakes with scrambled eggs and ham. Portions were generous and food came out hot and quick. The Moab Diner is just that, a diner, nothing overly fancy or pretentious; just a nice, little place where locals and tourists can enjoy a good meal. The wait staff is friendly, always making sure your coffee cup is full; prices are reasonable, and the menu has something for everyone, We enjoy the breakfasts, and the Sweetwater Skillet smothered in their own green chile sauce is out of this world; the omelets are packed and the pancakes are fluffy. Kokopelli Chicken is a specialty - Spanish seasonings on grilled chicken breast, smothered in cheese and the green chile sauce. Have I mentioned how good their green chile sauce is; I'm not kidding about that. This dish is available for lunch and dinner. There is a small ice cream shoppe at the front counter; and if you're going picnicking, hiking or just sight seeing, a boxed lunch can be packed up for you. Fast, friendly service. Basic diner fare with a southwest Moab twist. Mostly have been here for breakfast, I don't care for their coffee, too watery for me, but I like mine pretty strong as a rule. Breakfast is filling and will last for whatever adventure you have planned! Haven't had dessert or ice cream yet, but look huge! read more

We were visiting the national parks and stayed in Moab. This place was recommended by one of the locals we met and we decided to try for dinner. The diner was full even though it was on a weekday and we had to wait for about 15-20 mins for a table. They serve typical diner food like burgers, pork chop, chicken, steak and they claimed to have the best green chili. I love chili but have not tried green chili and went for it. The chili was good with ground pork and no beans (which is my preference.) Also ordered pork chops and they had 2 sides which I could choose from. Be sure to choose the sweetwater potatoes for sides. It was really good and I come from Idaho where they say potatoes are best. My pork chop looked dry when was served but it was surprising tender and not dry at all. Hb was curious about the green chili burger and he ordered that. Good thing the green chili (soup) which we had earlier was good as the burger was just a normal burger with beef patty and the usual onions, tomatoes, toppings. The only difference was it came with the green chili for dipping or for putting over the burger. Overall it was a good dinner with reasonable pricing. Service could be better though as the server forgot about our salad and soup and we had to ask for refills on our drinks, etc. read more

Simple good foods. Chicken fried steak was a little tough but flavorful. Liked the homemade chicken noodle soup. The soup has what looked like dumplings instead of noodle. The food was very bland. I got the chicken fried steak and had to be generous with the salt and pepper to get it down. My wife got one of the open faced cheeseburgers with the green Chile sauce. Great for a quick meal, and pretty generous portions as well. Friendly, accommodating staff jumped to correct an oversight on our order. As a side note: apparently, green chile in Utah is very different than in NM, it was called "green chili sauce" and actually was more like a soup, in that it was a thick, creamy consistency and had massive chunks of chicken in it, with no indication that it was a stew instead of just green chile. Server claimed that "everyone else loves it", and it is not for me to tell her that everyone is wrong. HOWEVER chile is spelled with one i and one e, and does not require a bunch of other ingredients to deliver its magical taste and healing properties. Many people with meat and dairy aversions are being denied the beauty of green chile when it is hindered with needless accompaniment. Do please note that the restrooms are only accessible from the parking lot, which is awkward, but they were clean and appeared to be serviced regularly. read more

This place is super cute. Takes you right into a scene from American Graffiti, or another old school flick. The food is typical diner fare. Kinda greasy, filling, and decently tasty. The have chile on the menu but if you actually know what chile is, don't get excited. This is not the chile you're looking for. Not spicy, tasteless, and bland. Belgh. Nothing we got here really stood out, other than that the chile wasn't good. The food was pretty much the norm for places like this, though the portions were great. The staff is quick to smile and super friendly, and the whole place is spic and span. It isn't the best food you'll have, but it's far from the worst. This is 'classic' diner fare. The steaks are greasy, the portions are huge, and the whole place feels like it hasn't changed in decades. I had a giant stuffed chicken burrito that was pretty damn tasty - the green chili mentioned in other reviews - and the ingredients were more fresh than you'd expect. Given that there's an ice cream shop at the front of the diner, the desserts here are also pretty epic. I had a coma-inducing mint chocolate chip shake, and my girlfriend had a "single" scoop sundae that was more like a massive double scoop sundae. Not bad for less than $30! read more

Stopped here after visiting the National Park. I ordered the Smothered burrito. It was very good. Service was fast. Got my food within 10 mins of ordering. Burrito, steak, chile sauce was done right. This place is truly amazing! We sat down at a nicely lit booth by the window and were attended to very quickly. We ordered the Diner Double burger which was scrumptious. Passels of people poured in from a swimming championship and filled the whole restaurant which was already bustling when we arrived. Nonetheless we were met with wonderful attentive service. Good solid diner food. I went for breakfast (very good) and for lunch (good). Both times the service was professional and courteous. The ice-cream "cone" is GINORMOUS. One "scoop" is really like 3 scoops.. Buyer beware. One bone to pick: They claim to have the best green chile in Utah. If that's the case, I'm not ever ordering it in Utah again. Surprisingly small portion sizes. My crew of guys didn't get full. My chicken sandwich was missing the cheese and onions, an apparent mix up. Of the 7 plates we ordered, one person wasn't mad. They took ten percent off my bill and gave me a small taste of ice cream, but I would greatly prefer to just pay for a good sandwich and get full then get comped.
