Momo paradise is one of my favorite spots for shabu shabu. I usually go to the Rowland Heights location so I'm glad to see there is one in Irvine now. The Irvine location has everything you would expect from Momo paradise, the great service, atmosphere and fresh & delicious meats and veggies. My favorite broths are the sukiyaki and tonkotsu and I like dipping in all the sauces they have. It's such a perfect atmosphere for families. I feel that the selections were a bit limited. It's mostly thinly sliced beef and pork. I was expecting some seafood at least. Their toppings were alright plus their dipping sauces. Drinks were good. They have toppings to go with your fruit tea drinks like lychee jellies etc.. service was attentive . Our server keeps on Checking if we need more meats etc.. maybe it's because the dining experience is about 90 minutes ( if Iam correct) but it's okay. We weren't being rushed . The place is noisy but not that too noisy . It is moderate. We did ordered all four broths.. shabu shabu, tonkatsu, tomato based broth and the sukiyaki. Out of the 4 , I liked the shabu shabu and the sukiyaki . Shabu shabu is simple and the sukiyaki is flavorful. It's really up to your taste and preference. There was not much a line of customers while we were there but they are full and a busy night. The meat was nicely sliced thinly with a little fat on it. I gave 4 stars simply because of the limited selections. Btw, we picked the momo over the wagyu. I think it was the right choice. Let me save you some time. If you're visiting for their soft opening deal please make a reservation. I have read their ig post over and over and no where does it say make it a reservation to be able to dine in. I visited today at lunch and the 10 people ahead of me and the 10 people behind me were confused just as me. the host was busy so I asked a server and he said they were seating walk INS so we waiting but when we got to the front the host said no. This is super misinformation and FALSE ADVERTISEMEMT. Waste of my 30 mins drive since I don't live close. I can't even comment on the food except it smelled good and it looked clean. Please don't make your customers wait for no reason and be more informative on your advertisement! If you see a line at your store you should tell people what's going on and only reservations. This is so upsetting! Before you come at me I called in 3 times to ask about the wait and the automated operater hung up each time. If someone had answered and just told us about the reservations than we wouldn't need to waste our gas and time. Do better. read more

I was excited to treat my family and older parents to shabu shabu this season, and after learning about this new location, we made the 2 hour drive to try MoMo Paradise Irvine for the first time. My parents are very picky and health-conscious eaters, so finding a restaurant for the entire family to enjoy is typically a challenge. However, MoMo completely delivered. We were very pleased to enjoy a meal that was healthy, clean, and filled with options. There was something available to cater to each of our specific tastes--veggies, beef, and pork. We chose the Tonkotsu and Tomato broths. The Tonkotsu was light, flavorful, and not too salty--a family favorite. My parents also appreciated the hot green tea. Ventilation was excellent--not too distracting/noisy yet efficient in venting all the steam. While the ambiance was clean and on-point, what especially stood out to us was the superior service. As we selected our vegetables and side dishes from the "Farmers Market," I noticed the staff members continuously cleaning, arranging, and restocking the veggies/sides. Attention to detail was clearly a priority. Additionally, our "Advisors" were very helpful with taking our orders and giving suggestions on which meat selections to try, given it was our first time. Momo Paradise have been my standard for shabu ayce for many years now, they have the basic understanding of Shabux2 correctly, focusing on high quality meats, high quality fresh veggies. The basic of Japanese shabu is very straight forward, kombu broth, goma dare for veggies, ponzu for meats, from here the difference is the quality of the meats and veggies, and this is where their quality shines. Whether you're a purist (like me), or liking the more current style of broths, the main importance is still the same, quality ingredients, and they nailed it. Now, the speed of deliverance is also important, the flow of food in ayce is one of the key point on how enjoyable the experience, I loooove how fast they're delivery on food, whenever we're almost done with our plates, our server asked us if we would like to have more food, and within minutes, sets of new meats are delivered, I can't tell you enough the importance of this, you almost never have to wait. Came here for shabu in Irvine and overall the food is solid, but service has been very inconsistent, which really affected our experience. My sister came last Friday and had a great time she mentioned their server, a very sweet girl with glasses, who was attentive and kind, which made the meal enjoyable. Unfortunately, today was the complete opposite. We were served by a guy named Kenneth, and his attitude was honestly disappointing. He came off condescending and impatient from the start, and on top of that, he messed up our order multiple times. The worst part was when he asked to clear our plates and ended up spilling soup and sauces onto my clothes, without a sincere apology or any attempt to make it right. The food itself is decent and the concept is fun, which is why this place has potential, but service really makes or breaks a shabu experience. After today, I'm hesitant to come back unless management addresses the inconsistency in customer service. A little courtesy and care go a long way, especially in a place where hot soup is involved. read more

Used to frequent the location in Mira Mesa before it closed down, so I was super stoked to see that one opened up less than 10 minutes from my house. Finally had a chance to visit this location and I could not have been happier with my experience. Best of luck not getting NGAN as your waitress, you would get yelled at for asking for water, I guess you suppose to do detailed homework before you come and know that water is self served. don't ask for straws, because she would tell you she has other priorities to finish first, so the second time she came by she had straws in her pockets and I waited until she finish her "priorities" and carefully asked again, since I don't want to get yelled at again, she just left w/o even acknowledging my request, and 5 mins later she brought us straws and just toss on our table w/o saying anything I said thank you and she turned away and of course didn't acknowledge. and the best part is right after you paid and just started eating ice cream she told us to leave because another party is coming for our table while it's 8:35pm (25 mins before the restaurant close) and 80% of the restaurant tables are empty. I guess she really wants to go home? I'm very surprised a new restaurant would let this level of service happen. I usually don't care about service as much, as long as the food tastes good for ayce, but this is just unacceptable. Don't bother to come to take the chance of letting some random miserable woman ruin your day, there are so many better shabu places in Irvine with consistent service. read more

Had the pleasure of attending the soft opening and was very impressed to see that they upheld the standard of excellence and quality among all locations (I've been to Arcadia, Rowland Heights, and Torrance). Service was great as usual as several servers checked up on us multiple times throughout our dinner. Anderson is the man! (Met him at the Arcadia location and he remembered us) The host and staff at the front desk were especially friendly too and made sure our party was well accommodated for. Beef short is my go-to meat, highly recommended. And the curry at the self-service bar is my favorite side dish. I would probably increase the music a little louder, but understandable since it's still their soft opening . Arrived at the soft opening 11/24 at 12:30pm, they close at 3pm mind you. There was a short line in the front, the host did not take any names down nor inform the line that they were fully booked or not accepting walk ins. When I was waiting my turn to speak to the host I saw plenty of available tables too, I know they were probably for the "reservations", but at least section it off and have some tables for walk ins. On their INSTAGRAM ADVERTISEMENT they did not specify you have to make a reservation to be able to eat their soft opening. Everyone including myself was confused, what the line was even for. Communication for this soft opening was horrible. Not the staffs fault I totally understand, but having 1 staff member telling us they did accept walk ins and then waited to the front and being told they were booked and no walk ins are available so it was just a waste of time. Please be very more organized and please inform the line if your restaurant is not accepting anymore customer, so people are not just mindlessly waiting in line for no reason. Edit* I forgot to add this too, I also tried to do my due diligence and try to call the restaurant beforehand to make sure they have their soft opening deal and guess what their Phone service was pure garbage. I would say "speak to staff" to their operator and it would say transferring you now and then HANG UP. Very disappointed in this establishment. read more

The quality of the meats immediately caught my attention -- everything is cut lean so you can really soak up the richness of the broth. Every bite tasted incredibly clean and flavorful. Their recommended dipping sauce combinations were honestly amazing and made the meal even better: * Ponzu with daikon oroshi and green onions * Goma with rayu and green onions * Raw egg with shichimi and green onions Each one brought out different layers of flavor, and I found myself switching between them the entire meal. They also have a super unique drink station. I highly recommend trying their teas and sodas -- the peach (momo) and Tokyo melon were my personal favorites. Our server Kenny was fantastic. He was thorough, communicative, and made everything easy to understand when there was a lot of info to take in. He checked on us often and made sure we had everything we needed. If you're a curry lover, definitely try their wagyu curry. The flavor of the curry paired perfectly with the wagyu -- comforting, rich, and delicious. The owner Len was incredibly kind and engaging. He shared different sauce tips and flavor combinations, which made the experience feel even more personal. The whole atmosphere was calm, warm, and relaxing. Came here with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday, and even though I don't go out to eat much these days, this ended up being a really solid experience. The broths were clean and flavorful and the meat quality was great too. We had the pleasure of being taken care of by our server Ngan, who brought great energy the entire night. She stayed on top of everything, was super accommodating with requests, and somehow always ready with what we needed before we even had to ask. So I had a reservation here recently and couldnt wait. I got my parking spot unbuckled my belt and went in, i was ready. After being seated by the hostess I went to the buffet line of hot pot ingreadients and started to get the soup ordering ready. Once it was set, I was ready and ordered the meats, and ordered, and orderd til I got full enough not to need the restrooms.
