I absolutely love MLV! Anytime I come to NOLA I stop here for my nails and/or feet. This time I had service from Thâo, my partner got serviced by Mary, both for manicures. They were amazing and the massage was everything. The vibes is classy, drinks are offered as well. I love it here.

Never been here before but live in the neighborhood and wanted to try. I got a dip with acrylic extensions which is pretty normal of a request, but the extension was not adhered to all of my nails properly, so there's a gap which I imagine I will need to scrub carefully when hand washing. There's a dip in the middle of several nails where the tip was improperly blended in. Overall, not the worst set of tips I have had and the price was reasonable (overall, they are a bit thick for my taste). My friend came with me and her mani was perfect (may just be luck of the draw). Everyone was very polite and we were offered a beverage. One major issue: this place needs better ventilation and air filtration. I left with a headache that has continued to the next day. I can't imagine the headaches the staff must have.

Well I made it in allll the rain, only 3 customer inside, YAY ME!!! Hand sanitizer at the door with a sign on the door that basically stated, 'sanitize your hands when you come in', I can dig it. I managed to find a writing utensil, signed my name on this makeshift sign-in sheet & I was seated with my mask on. It was FINALLY my turn in the chair. Manicure & a toe nail polish change, please and thank you. Lynn, my technician, greeted me and proceeded to work, the convo was lite, she gave me advice on nail care, my cuticles, drinking water, I questioned the dipping technique vs the regular acrylic application; good convo, I thought. Then she pulled out the drill, I'm thinking, this is just a manicure, why is she doing this? I questioned her use of the drill, she reassured me it was just for the cuticles... THENNNNNN SHE SPOKE IN HER NATIVE TONGUE TO THE NEIGHBORING TECHNICIAN, who looked at me, looked at my hands, replied to the conversation & then continued to work on her patron. WELL I'LL BE A MONKEY'S UNCLE!!!! They were talking about me, but didn't want me to know what was being said. I mean, was it good or bad, idk, but there was a discussion about me IN FRONT OF MY FACE, that I wasn't privy to, HOW RUDE!!!! That's POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE & I don't stand for that. Now it was time for the toe nail polish change. I was seated in a salon chair, polish was removed & the new polish was applied. Typical application. The technician who re-polished my toes kept trying to up sell the service I was receiving by recommending a full pedicure, I refused, she completed my service and I was done. As I checked out, I was greeted with a $1 convenience fee for using my credit/debit card... huh???? What the what.. a whole dollar????? Dude, really??? Smh. Needless to say, I won't be returning here: - day two chipped nail polish - poor condition of my cuticles after leaving - $1 convenience fee for using a credit card, really??? - talking about me left me feeling really disrespected To be noted, in spite of this blatant disrespect I received, I still tipped both technicians, but I'll NEVER return and I'll be sure to share my experience with others. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS KEY!!!! Oh well, on to the next.

This nail spot was okay. It seems to be hit or miss depending on the crowds of folks that frequents this establishment. I got my feet and hands done gel with french tips. I sensed that once they got busy they really were trying to rush my job but however, maybe because what I wanted took a lot of time to do it was just okay. I had a finger that for some odd reason Bubbled up with a thick overlay. I was so disappointed that i was just trying to get out there. I feel like maybe I went at the wrong time (Friday 5:15pm).

Leaving MLV for the second time and felt compelled to leave a review after a second 5-star experience! These folks are kind and efficient and so good at what they do. I was in and out in ~30 mins for a gel mani and I love how they look :) this will be my go-to spot from now on!

Their professionalism is worth more than 5 stars! After being disappointed and let down by my regular nail shop of over a year i decided to give MLV a try since they are so close to my house and i was more than impressed by their skill and attention to detail and care! They offer complimentary drinks during your service and make sure that you are satisfied and pleased prior to your departure. The Owner is a "no non-sense" woman and runs her business as such. She definitely keeps her shop and her staff in order to keep up here esteemed reputation. I went in on Christmas Eve and they were more than accommodating!!!! Just showed a picture and got exactly what i wanted. I'll definitely be back as a regular!

Haaaaay girl! Today was my first time checking this place out, recommend by a friend. I got a pedicure and a full set. I'm usually not a fan of getting my toes and nails getting done at the same time but I might be a convert, I was out of the salon within an hour with perfect nails. Lynn did my full set and I am one picky girl. Let's just say I will be coming back to her religiously. She did a PHENOMENAL job. I have never been happier with a nail salon experience. I came to the shop because of their reviews on yelp. Seems like they do a pretty good job. But the lady who did my nails really messed up my shape. I know I got a refill and it's probably kinda hard to follow behind someone else's work. I told her these were my real nails so can she can pay more attention. She tried her best I guess. Don't like the shape but love polishing. (From another employee). I'll go again but I would rather someone do my nails. I'm giving them a 4 because the polishing was nice. read more

So bummed considering how many great reviews this place had. Came in and waited 30 min (as I expected considering how small and busy the place was so I'm not pressed) Got my nails done exactly how I wanted within an hour and was so excited!! They were absolutely perfect. Sadly within two days, one broke. Within a week 2 more fell off completely. I was so bummed considering I was in love with the set so I reached out to the owner in hopes of replacing the nails I lost (rip). Her response wasn't what I was hoping to receive. She said she would fix the one broken nail for 10$ (!?) and that the shop was not responsible for the rest of the broken ones and to inform my nail tech to make the nails thicker next time for durability. Not what i was hoping to hear as im sure any other nail place would be willing to fix any damaged or fallen nails for the same price, not just 10$ a nail. read more

I was flying out to New York and needed to get my nails done the day before my flight but my usual nail salon had grown plain so after searching for a reputable salon I found MLV and looked at their Instagram and decided to try it out. I was not disappointed! We came in 10-15 minutes before closing but they said they could still take us and while we did have to wait for around 20-30 minutes, it was worth it. Judy was kind and listened to what I wanted. When I showed her the pictures she knew exactly what to do, they even had more colors than what I was looking for! She also offered us beverages and had a thoughtful conversation with us which is unusual for me since I don't talk much when I'm getting my nails done. I also got an eyebrow and upper lip waxing and I love my eyebrows! She accommodated me when I wanted to give up and made sure I didn't have to feel more pain than needed. This was by far my best experience at a nail salon and I look forward to coming back soon. read more

I was visiting for the Beyonce concert this past week and didn't have time to get my nails done before I arrived to Nola. My air bnb was luckily right down the street from this place and was surprised by the great yelp reviews. This place is definitely better than my nail salon back home. Emma did a wonderful job on my glow in the dark nails and my pedicure ! The shop itself isn't the most up to date but they get the job done and do it well. Highly recommend, especially as an out of towner looking for a shop that is up to date on the newest nail trends. read more

Words cannot begin to describe how good this nail shop is. I love the work done. I have naturally long and strong nails. I specifically asked for no hard drilling to not damage my nails and the gentleman listened. I had my nails dipped in powder and ended with a gel finish. Besides the natural growth, my nails have not chipped and the color is as if it was done yesterday. It's been almost 3 weeks. I week before I had the same work done on the north shore and by the end of the week my thumb nail was all chipped up and had to hide it by polishing it with a similar color till I went to MLV. I'm going to be a customer for life! read more

Not sure how i feel. Its not terrible, but its also not good. I paid 22 for this gel manicure. The pictures on yelp looked so good so i thought i'd give it a try. I personally found this salon to be a "last resort"kimd of place, you can get better. I also got a pedicure and the water was burning hot and their chairs arent the most comfy. Their prices are standard. Im just not satisfied. read more

This was my 1st time here today. I got acrylic nails soak off, a manicure, and gel polish. I had only had acrylic nails for about 2 weeks. I am not used to them and had to get them off the first chance I get. I am a gel polish person! My regular nail salon was not open on a Sunday but this place was and the guy who did my nails was nice, kind, and funny. He did not damage my original nail by taking off the acrylic, which is appreciated. Also my Gel looks amazing. I think I may have found a new place to go if ever needed. Will definitely return. Great shop! Came here based on yelp reviews, which are all on point. There is plenty of street parking nearby and we were able to make a reservation (3 girls getting pedicures/treating one of the ladies for her upcoming wedding). Despite it being a Thursday, they were pretty busy and we ended up having to wait - no biggie at all! They were so kind and almost too apologetic. We weren't in a rush, so waiting about 10 minutes so we could all have the salon pedicure ($25 each) at the same time was just fine. They offer hot chocolate, water and soda for clients, which is also a nice touch. Overall, the service, quality, and friendliness was lovely. They have options like metallic that are on trend. I've now been to 3 nail places in New Orleans and will definitely be coming back next time I need anything done! read more

If you want your nails done correctly, this is the place to go. Excellent attention to detail, not rushed, and executed perfectly. I am picky with my nails and just left this place completely satisfied. Also, had my eyebrows waxed to perfection. So happy I gave this place a try. Everyone there was very nice and accommodating. I'm unsure of the name of my tech, but he was a very sweet man and a young woman waxed my brows. Both were great. read more

I got a basic full set done, they make the coffin shape look great, but I got regular polish and it ended up smearing twice before I left the shop. The first time the guy fixed it but I notice a 1dollar extra charge for the nail repaint on the bill. Also I wanted to get eyebrow threading done but when after asking for threading I got in the chair and saw that the lady was preparing wax. I asked her about threading but she said i'd have to come back another day. read more

Excellent service! My cousin and I were visiting and on a lazy Sunday decided to go pamper ourselves. I searched Google and Yelp to locate a shop that was open, nearby and had good reviews. I found MLV Nail Studio. The shop was clean and relaxing atmosphere. The staff was friendly and in spite of a nasty mannered customer they remained polite and once the person was politely asked to leave the experience returned to fantastic. Emma was lovely and handled a difficult customer with class and finesse like an artist. I will definitely return on future visits home to New Orleans. I would highly recommend this shop. Over priced like MF. The language barrier sucks. They'll tell you a price for one thing than back track and try to charge more cause nobody can't understand what you're trying to tell them. Such a bad experience with a rude owner. read more

I'm from Alabama, and was in New Orleans for Halloween. I came here to get my pedicure, and a set of acrylic nails for my daughters wedding. I took a chance because the YELP review customer pictures looked great. I was not disappointed! I'm extremely hard to please when it comes to my nails. It's a big deal if I say I'm happy with the quality of their work.....and my nails turned out perfect. 20 yrs of wearing acrylic nails and this is the best set I've ever had. I called in to the salon and asked if they do apres gel-X extensions I was answered yes and proceeded to make my way to the salon which was 20 minutes away. When I got there I said what i wanted, sat and waited 10 mins for them to ask me again and when I said gel-x everybody looked confused. When I pulled up the picture they proceeded to tell me they didn't provide the service. Poor communication. read more

After some Yelp searching, I ran across the great reviews to this place that is super close to my house! I called ahead to see how busy they were, Emma took my name and called me back to tell me that they had slowed down. These ladies are awesome guys, very attentive to your needs. Everyone was so nice! My pedi experience with Lily was amazing. Great convo and full useful info! Now for my eyebrows...I don't trust my eyebrows with everyone. She was so so so great and my eyebrows look so wonderful! I had read all the good reviews for this place and I had to try it! I had made an appointment to be with Julie and I'm pretty sure Julie did not do my nails as I had a male technician. I had shown him a picture of regular acrylic nails with a couple pieces of butterfly glitter on each nail. As he finished my 7th nail, a woman came up to us and informed me that the price of my nails would be 80 dollars. I was very very surprised. The reason they said they were that much was because they were using clear acrylic, even though I did not ask for that, and he told me he would just be using acrylic. I can't tell the difference between the two acrylics as they look almost the same when applying. The two techs then started being very rude to me and asked if they wanted to take them off, which i declined since he was almost done. I ended up negotiating to 65 dollars since my tech never once told me the price before starting my nails, when I expected them to be 35 at the most. He also rushed the nails and the shaping of each nail is different and the clear nails are full of my nail shavings and debris and look almost dirty. The only reason I'm not giving one star is because i like how sharp the nails are and the place is clean. Definitely not coming back here. UPDATE: after about a week and a half all the nails started popping off and taking off all of my real nail, don't waste your money, you can get your nails done better literally everywhere else read more

Very poor customer service. I have come here twice now and waited 30 minutes each time. No one gave me any indication of the wait time. Someone started to work on my nails but then helped another person instead. all I needed was a refill or just one nail fixed. I even called to ensure they weren't busy both times. Top notch service! I booked my entire wedding party plus mothers and aunties an appointment here. Emma and Jolean, hope I am spelling her name correctly were fantastic. Everyones nails looked fabulous and they got us all done with plenty of time to spare so we wouldn't be late to other engagements that day. She opened her shop a bit early to accommodate us. I sent her pictures of nail designs for myself and she was able to duplicate the design masterfully. Everyone was so kind and courteous. I will definitely be back whenever I visit NOLA. They make my nails really pretty over here. The staff are all super friendly and accommodating. The pedicure chairs have massaging backs, which are great, and they bring you a beverage while your relax. Also, I schedule my appointments ahead of time, and it's always been really easy for me. read more

Here's what happened. I'm using tretinoin so I made an appointment to have my brows shaped using a tweezer, thinking this method would be best. I told the tech I stop using the medication 5 days prior to my appointment. She thanked me for the info so she could proceed with the best method. She then mapped my brows and applied wax. I was taken aback but wrongly thought she was doing the best method for retinoid use. That was a huge mistake. Not only did she butcher me brows, she took some of my skin with them. When I lifted my side desk to put my water down, it was knocking into the desk of the person next to me. Walking from the chairs to the front I was constantly having to navigate around people having to ask them to scoot their chairs in just so I could walk by. I also put in my appointment that I wanted gel polish, and they put regular polish on my toes which had to be taken off and gel polish put on...which caused me to run behind for an event that I had that evening.

Yesterday was my first day back to do self care activities including my trip to the nail salon. I am writing this review a day later because I am still so upset. I have been a customer of MLV since it's opening and prior ownership patron. I would also frequent the nail shop at Oakwood Mall so I was happy to see Emma flourish in her new business. Yesterday was a sour day for me after realizing the shop had been "modernized" with some cosmetic changes and new signs barely acknowledging the the new prices. I didn't acknowledge the new prices until my grand total including a basic gel manicure ($35) Pedicure ($35 ish) and eyebrow wax $12 had well exceeded the previous range of $65 to now $80. I was told that the prices were due to renovations and then related to decreased volume of patrons allowed. Unacceptable and regular customers should be told prior to services. Also it took over 30 minutes to start my pedicure although an appointment was made due to covid new restrictions. As a customer of over 5 years I am displeased and disappointed. Horrible and extremely racist! I'll never go back to this establishment. POOR customer service and because there aren't many nail salons in the area these ppl do and say anything knowing you don't have much of a choice in patronizing their establishment! NEVERRRR AGAIN!
