I won't name names but of the three times I've been to this business, with three different technicians, I've never had a good experience. My last visit, however, was the last straw. Here's what happened. I'm using tretinoin so I made an appointment to have my brows shaped using a tweezer, thinking this method would be best. I told the tech I stop using the medication 5 days prior to my appointment. She thanked me for the info so she could proceed with the best method. She then mapped my brows and applied wax. I was taken aback but wrongly thought she was doing the best method for retinoid use. That was a huge mistake. Not only did she butcher me brows, she took some of my skin with them. I'm participating in a documentary and have to be filmed, which is why I wanted my brows done in the first place. Tell me what you think about the results. read more

They are never on time and as someone who has a busy schedule I need my appointments to start on time so this is a no for me.

Well...I'm going back to the drawing board on finding someone to do my brows. Not because she did a bad job but because for waxing eyebrows I think $24 was far too expensive. I'm used to the $9-$15 range. I think they hype the service to be more than it is in its description. When booking online, it states you'll receive "a consultation, expert advice, quality waxing, threading, tweezing & trimming service. Your service is finished with a relaxing acupressure brow massage." I think this was a way to make 24 bucks sound justifiable. I wasn't asked what I wanted, wasn't given advice, and I didn't receive a massage. Before she started I showed her a picture of myself for an idea of what I wanted them to look like. They didn't look bad but they weren't what I asked for. If you're okay with the pricing, they do a decent job so try it but, my personal search continues. read more

Late, unapologetic, unprofessional and attitude sucks! Started my brows 49 minutes late without and apology or an explanation. Hair was falling all on me. Next I noticed while she was almost finished with me another client came in for her (Victoria) , she never changed her gloves. Y'all got the audacity to make people wait outside until their appointment , but your technician is using the same gloves on a different client. This place has gone down tremendously and they don't have to worry about me EVA AGAIN. My Money spends anywhere!!! Update! Mind you, I went to this establishment for brow tint. I had an exceptional service. I used to come here when I was in high school, so I usually come every now and then when I visit my family and I've always had a great visit. The environment is very calming and welcoming, and everyone greeted me when I walk through the door, and also greeted everyone who came in while I was there for my service. it says on the front door it's appointment only so I highly suggest that you still book an appointment to get a service done. I was in a rush and I didn't think it would hurt to ask and they still accepted me since I only needed to get my brows and lip done. The lady who did my brows was very gentle on my skin, or as gentle as you can be with threading, and everything in the description for my services, I received. I decided to try Brow Rituals after following them on Instagram for months...and I was sorely disappointed with the quality of the threading service. I've been getting my eyebrows threaded since high school (anyone else remember that threading stand in the Clearview Mall?) and I generally know what to expect. I tried Brow Rituals because I'm frequently in the Gentilly area and finding a new threader would mean one less trip Uptown. The spot itself is located in a busy strip mall in the heart of Gentilly. There's ample parking and it's easy to locate. When I walked in, I was impressed by the decor and glad I was greeted immediately. It took a while for the cashier to check out the guest before me and check me in - long enough that I considered leaving - but once I was checked in, I was seated with an esthetician right away. The esthetician did not ask what shape I wanted or how I wanted my brows or anything else. She immediately took the thread to my brows and started to saw away. It was easily the most painful threading experience of my life. She paused at one point and asked if I was okay (because I kept flinching) and I told her it hurt more than usual. She didn't say anything else and continued to thread. When she was done, my brows were extremely red and swollen, and to make matters worse, the esthetician haphazardly applied rubbing alchol to the area. My eyebrows were also thinner than ever before (I usually ask for a "clean up" but I wasn't asked...). Overall, Brow Rituals is not a place I would return to. I hestiate to give them 1 star because they offer other services, but as far as threading goes, this isn't the place. read more

First and foremost, BLACK OWNED! The place is very nice. It's tucked away in a strip off Elysian. It took me a minute to find it the first time I went ha ha. I was actually there to buy a gift card from someone so it got a preview of how they operate. Everyone followed COVID precautions by wearing a mask, wiping down the chairs and switching gloves between clients. I was in desperate need of an eyebrow wax and short on time. Couldn't go see bae with an unibrow! With a quick search on yelp i discovered this place. First of all the shop is located in a strip mall right off Gentilly Blvd. I drove from across the river and made it there in about 35 minutes... in rush hour traffic. Super easy to find. I made an appointment earlier in the day for an eyebrow and full face wax. My service started promptly on my arrival. I found the space that Brow Rituals is housed in is super clean and organized. I love the design of the layout too. Feels fancy. My esthetician discusses with me what I wanted, what was realistic before my service started. Which I appreciate. Throughout my wax she was very informative, patient, and most importantly gentle. With the use of both wax and threading my face was hair free, smooth. My eyebrows were full. For my first time going to this brow bar I was quite impressed. The first thing you notice upon entering is the modern and chic decor. The receptionist and waiting area is clean and quaint. I arrived around 5:30pm with no appointment and received eyebrow threading services no later than 15 min later. They offer online appointments which I will use with my next visit. Eyebrow services are only $10 which was a nice surprise. I usually pay between $13-$15 for the same eyebrow service. They offer lash extensions and facial waxing services as well. I hope they will be come a staple in the neighborhood. If you live in Gentilly or attend school at Dillard or UNO, this brow bar is the best thing smoking in the area. They just dont give good attention or service! I went there few days ago asking for waxing and tint, the lady told me I needed a test before I can get some kind of tinting and told me she was using henna instead,I was fine with that, the problem was when SHE NEVER DID THE TEST ON ME and also when she applied the henna was supposed to take that off in the next 15 minutes, well she left to take another client and came back almost 35 minutes later so now I have VERY DARK eyebrows, it looks like she made it with sharpie! Also it was like 4:40 when I told her I wanted to get my eyelashes done too! After 5 minutes doing nothing she told me OH! Its almost 5oclok we cannot do your eyelashes today just get it done next time! Girl Im already getting take care of and in your freaking chair!!! She was just ready to go! My second appointment went okay I guess. Wasn't busy when I went in . I was seen by Meenakshi . She did a wonderful job threading my brows . I wished I only gotten that service as previously planned . I figured I'd get the brow tint again because it turned out great from my first appointment . Maybe I had a new employee , but she didn't do my tint as I expected it , but she was definitely patient with me , listened to my concerns , & took care of me . She even got a second opinion from another employee . They fixed me right up. I did notice that the lady at the desk who you check in with , said to other guests " Have a good day , can't wait to see you again " , but I didn't get even " have a good day " on my way out and wasn't even greeted as I walked in . When I arrived I was told she did not work that day. The second time I booked my appt online with Sonam. When I arrived I was told that she had another appt and I would have to wait 30 minutes or I could be serviced by someone else. I started going to this place from the first week it open. The shop is inviting and beautiful. It's so relaxing in there. Sonoma (may have misspelled) has always been professional. She help my eyebrows grow, but due to my medications my left brow remains thin. I always get eyebrow threading and I very satisfied. In November of 2019 I got the facial where the peach fuzz on your face is removed. Boy, was I surprised at how I looked afterwards. My make looked sooooo much better and I got so much complaints on how young I looked. I really like this business because the owner is also a registered nurse and working with medical professionals I feel so comfortable with her. I only make appointments with her. Don't go here I went here whilst I was travelling around the states for a couple of months and I needed my lashes redone. I don't know if there was something wrong with the glue, lashes or if the technician just did an awful job but these lashes were the worst I've ever had. I know that within the first 24 hours it is normal for some eyelashes to fall out but I woke up with 10+ on my pillow and multiple would fall out every hour. Its now been about a week and i have 3 odd lashes left, none of which fell out attached to a natural lash they all just fell off. Waste of money. read more

Oh but look no further Sonam, gives me exactly what I want in my brows every time and I've only had to tell her once (my first visit).. which is important with any service, you have to have communication to get what you want, they aren't mind readers.. I love my eyebrows thick but natural with a slight arch, complicated right? Wrong, Sonam knew exactly what I wanted and she hasn't failed me since. Also, can I say how it's a whoooollle experience. Sonam is SUPER GENTLE (I'm convinced she uses a different type of thread) she uses aloe Vera gel and toner to soothe my brows before and after. And the application of this product is like an eyebrow facial, she massages my temples and very gently glides the cotton across my eyebrows.. it's just so pleasant... I've been to this place twice and regretted it both times. The first time I made an appointment and still waited nearly an hour, had red marks because the lady was threading my skin and not my hair, and was underwhelmed by the mediocrity or lack of a define shape of my brow. They refunded my money and seemed apologetic so I let it slide. My usual brow lady wasn't available so I gave this place another try. A different lady threaded my brows. I had red bumps all along my forehead (something I NEVER get when going to my usual) but again she was threading my skin not my hair which just literally means she's unskilled, same as first lady. Took about 30 min, my usual lady takes 5. Paid $24 when I usually pay $10. I posted a pic where I circled hair that was still left when she was "done". I legit went home to finish plucking my own brows. I've never been so disappointed with an overpriced salon service ever & for it to happen more than once, just confirms I need to stay away.. please do not go to this place for threading when there are more skilled, quicker, and cheaper options around. read more

They fucked my eyebrows up period . The lady did exactly what I told her not to do ! Made them thin and re shaped them when I went for a clean up NOTHING ELSE! They only post pictures of thicker eyebrows cause those are easy to do ! can't really mess them up . The owner was nice tried to make it up by offering me to come in and get them free once they grow out . Not willing to take that chance tho ! I have more bad experiences then good . Two ladies walked in about 15 minutes after me, and were immediately taken care of. I asked one of the ladies if they made an appointment, and she stated that they were walk-ins. Honestly everything was straight to the point. Not much conversation between myself and the esthetician but I'm fine with that. The only thing was although my eyebrows are flawless I broke out terribly the next day. I have bumps all around my eyebrows and my lip; also got my lip waxed. That was my first time getting my lip waxed so had I known I'd break out this bad I wouldn't have done it. I thought the wax used on my face was going to be hard wax but it was pulled off with the strips which is a bit more painful but it didn't bother me too much. I do have sensitive skin but still never broke out the bad from getting my brows waxed. I'm not sure what type of wax is used but I'll never get waxed there again. Maybe I'll try threading next time.
