I ended up visiting here for the final game of the 2017 Minto Cup series and was very impressed with the overall experience. This arena evokes memories of the 70s -- an old-school snack bar, wooden benches that have been repainted multiple times and have to be folded down to sit on, that old brick masonry that befits a building like this... it's a great place to sit and watch a game. The venue is a bit deceptive, in that it can seat nearly 1,400 people. It just doesn't look like it from first glance. I'm not sure if I've ever been in an arena this raucous. Considering that the arena is smack dab in the middle of a residential neighborhood, the walls nearly blew down with how much people were screaming. The game I watched had two teams, the Coquitlam Adanacs and Six Nations Arrows, battling it out. In the end, the game was a complete blowout - the Arrows won 8-3. Speaking from the perspective of someone who was covering the event, there's a definite pecking order to the place. The press box is incredibly crowded and not suited for anyone who's casually covering an event. I had a family whining at me because I was in the stands taking photos (that said, I will never be intimidated by someone trying to tell me how to do my job). Some photographers seem to lord themselves over everyone else, and you can't go into certain places (even with a media pass) without approval, despite others being able to do so whenever they want. That said, the experience was a memorable one, and I will most likely be back in the future to cover more games and championships. If you haven't seen the Minto Cup in person, you really should visit the arena - it's even older than the Stanley Cup! Brampton Memorial Arena is well worth the visit. Come for the games, stay for the history.

No popcorn, 2 hotdogs and 1 slice of pizza. Young lady had an oh well i don't care attitude. Lots of people wanting and nothing to buy.... Tonight 2nd home game next young lady sweet and polite. Technically, it's closer for me to work from home and head over to Oshawa than to go into the office and drive from Mississauga to Rama. So, I chose the former. Tribute Communities Centre is formerly General Motors Centre. I figured that out when I looked up in the venue and saw the Oshawa Generals hockey team's logo on the ceiling. Driving from Markham to this venue was straightforward. I strategically visited Arby's for dinner and drove down Ritson to the venue. I do not recommend parking across the street from the centre, unless you have mobility issues. For a concert, parking goes for $20. Instead, I parked at a lot a bit further down Athol Street East, just east of the venue. Parking was going for $10. The woman pointed where I should park and said that I had plenty of time to back into the spot. It was almost as if she knew what I had wanted to do with my car. The walk was less than five minutes away. Tribute Communities Centre is nice. It reminds me of Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg. It's a multipurpose venue for hockey games, concerts, and more. It's roomy. Staff are helpful and friendly. There are railings for people who need them. Accessibility designs are taken into consideration. There are a decent number of washroom stalls for women. I had floor seats (first row, seat 8). Floor seats are padded chairs. The sad thing is that they are so close together that I felt that I knew one couple intimately that night. I have seen Jann Arden more than any other musician in my life. She did not disappoint. The speaker system was working well. I got a great view of her show. I had a great time. Staff at his centre are extremely efficient. After everyone had got up from their seats in the floor area, you saw a swarm of staff members unlock all the chairs and start to fold them up. Wow! I'd come back here again for future events. I'll need to try the food next time. The woman next to me had ordered red wine that came in a clear cup with a lid. I love practicality! (363)

The screens by the scoreboard over the rink are a little small and if you're at an odd angle, they can be hard to see. My favourite part is Timbits Hockey. 2 full teams of tiny hockey players get out on the ice. It's truly adorable. Great venue, reasonably priced. Worth it!

The town's hockey office is here too, right behind the spectators seats of the main ice pad. The main rink has enough seats to host a Jr A or an OHL game. Alas, there is no JrA or OHL team in Richmond Hill. Hence these seats probably never get warm. The way this rink is built, the pillars and columns supporting the roof may block the view for those sitting the upper rows, which is a minus. That's just the way they used to build rinks bank in the day. The arena is warmer than most yet the ice is of decent quality. They have recently renovated the entire arena and the rink has received a sound proofing upgrade. Now it's not as echoey and noisy as before. The secondary rink has only a couple of small benches for the spectators. You can also watch the game or the practice through the glass from the hallway upstairs. The snack shop is usually open and offers coffee, tea and a limited variety of snacks. The pro shop is hardly ever works. At least I have not seen it open in a long while. There is one or two party rooms that are frequently booked for birthdays and other events. There are a few parking spots near the main entrance. There is a time limit there and the town is quick to write a ticket (don't ask me how I know LOL). There is a huge parking lot behind the building, in between the arena and the baseball diamond. And even more parking across the street.

A moment of nostalgia overcame me when, during a random yelp search, I came across this Yelp…read morelisting. As a kid growing up in Richmond Hill, this was minor league hockey Mecca. I can still recall getting my house league hockey assignments in novice and atom and knowing that the games would be in either Elgin Mills East or Elgin Mills west arena. As mentioned already, one side is definitely meant for the likes of a junior team, a seemingly larger ice surface, and tons of seating (far more than a gang of parents huddled together watching a 6am practice can fill). Having a game here as a youngster was like being drafter and playing in the NHL. The other side (much smaller) was meant for younger teams, house league, summer hockey, etc. While the spectator areas were limited, the best seats in the house were from the enclosed viewing deck above. Funny story about the latter, I was once playing goalie in house league and had been just told about the aggressive style of play of the once great Ron Hextal... I took the story far too literally and leveled a kid on the other team with an unsuspecting goalie paddle to the back. Ohhhh boy. Somehow I avoided getting into trouble Ha ha. But you can be the didn't come near MY crease ever again. Glad to hear it's received some much needed renovations as even playing here as a 7-10 year old in the early '90s I could tell the place needed work. But it was home, it's where I got my start and if I'm lucky enough to have kids one day, I'd love to see them play here one day (even if it's just a visiting game). How's that for a #TBT style review.

The arena itself is right in the heart of downtown, so the whole area around it already feels super alive before you even walk in. There's people everywhere, jerseys, food spots nearby, and just that pre-game energy that makes it so fun. Inside, it was packed but in a good way, like full energy, loud, exciting, everyone already hyped before tip-off. I had seats in the 300 level and honestly I don't even think that's a bad thing at all. The view from up there is actually really solid, you can see the whole court properly and the energy from the crowd feels even more spread out and intense. Service-wise, everything was pretty organized. It was busy, so lines and movement around the concourse can get a bit crowded at times, but nothing unexpected for a Raptors game night. Once you're settled in your seat though, it's smooth and you can just focus on the game. Overall, I'd 100% recommend going at least once if you're in Toronto. It's not just about basketball, it's the full experience: the crowd, the energy, the location, and just being part of that atmosphere. Even from the 300s, it still feels like a really good seat. Definitely one of those experiences that's way more fun in person than on TV.

Typically Ed Sackfield was reserved for practices and the odd Select level team game against visiting teams. It has ample parking, lots of enclosed, heated viewing spaces for parents, and a fair amount of stands. I recall in the 90s that Ed Sackfield was kind of like the fancy arena, it was newer, slicker, had automatic doors (fancy fancy). The issues here were ventilation and figure skaters. Due to the larger ice surface here, it was prime training space for Figure Skaters and there was seldom a game where you didn't go ass over tea kettle from hitting a divot in the ice caused by a pair of figure skate toe picks. As for ventilation, there were many many instances where I developed severe headaches and asthma like symptoms within the first 20-30 minutes of stepping on the ice here after the Zamboni had cleaned the ice. Either the machine had issues or the exhaust was not being properly ventilated, and at the time I wasn't alone, others I played with exhibited similar symptoms. It's been a long time since I've been back so I'm sure those issues are all but remedied at this point. Would love to bring my kid here for skating one day

That's quite expensive, but it's more manageable if you have 10 people, which is the number of bumper cars they have. It's quite fun, but hard to control/master. Great team building event. Taking a look around, eZone also has a court for ball hockey or basketball, laser tag, golf simulators, pool, ping pong ... and a bar/restaurant attached as well.

In terms of watching pro league tennis in Toronto this stadium is always the default venue where…read moregames are played at, and it always switches every year between the men and women. For example, this year (2017), the venue hosted the WTA tour while Montreal hosted the ATP. Next year it will switch around. This was my second time visiting the stadium for the WTA, and just like the first time I enjoyed my visit here and the matches I got to see in the semi-finals for the women. In terms of the stadium it's a nice venue overall. Clean and well-kept, so no complaints there, however, if there is one area I think could be improved upon greatly it would be the concession prices. There just way to high in my opinion and I will gladly always wait to eat outside the stadium versus inside. I'm sure that won't change anytime soon, but it's worth noting nonetheless.

Growing up, I was never one for tennis. I remember getting a racket one year as a present and I…read morethink my lack of coordination or patience to learn prevented me from ever picking up the sport. As I got older, I realized I liked watching it a lot more than I ever did playing it, but as the years went on I even learned to hit and serve. I like the sport a lot now and love to go watch it on a warm, sunny day. One of the best facilities to watch a pro match is at the Rexall Tennis Centre up at York University. Besides getting scorched by the sun in the nosebleeds that have no shade coverage whatsoever, the stands are vast and can seat thousands of fans. I was lucky one summer to score some box seats and the comfort and service was spectacular! Like any arena/stadium-like event venue, there are dozens of concession stands and beer gardens and souvenir shops to satisfy any sweet touch or beer belly in the place. The Rogers Cup is hosted there every summer and the top ranked players in the world come to wow the crowds. A very great aspect of the Rogers Cup at the Rexall Centre are the semi-private courts that allow fans to get up close and personal to their favourite players and watch them practice. There were autograph sessions and swag give-a-ways and tennis fans and tag-a-longs alike seemed to have a great time! If you like playing or watching tennis, you should check out the Rexall Centre for the Rogers Cup or any other tournament or event. They also have concerts and business shows and events there from time to time. Parking is located directly across the tennis centre and the lot is HUGE, so no worries on not finding a spot. The only thing I can say against the Rexall Centre is the security. Yes, they were just doing their job but I didn't appreciate getting accosted for my half empty juice bottle. *sniff, sniff, ok, carry on ma'am. THAT was not necessary!
