The young owner is very rude and very mean. I regret i had bought an annual card for table tennis.

Typically Ed Sackfield was reserved for practices and the odd Select level team game against visiting teams. It has ample parking, lots of enclosed, heated viewing spaces for parents, and a fair amount of stands. I recall in the 90s that Ed Sackfield was kind of like the fancy arena, it was newer, slicker, had automatic doors (fancy fancy). The issues here were ventilation and figure skaters. Due to the larger ice surface here, it was prime training space for Figure Skaters and there was seldom a game where you didn't go ass over tea kettle from hitting a divot in the ice caused by a pair of figure skate toe picks. As for ventilation, there were many many instances where I developed severe headaches and asthma like symptoms within the first 20-30 minutes of stepping on the ice here after the Zamboni had cleaned the ice. Either the machine had issues or the exhaust was not being properly ventilated, and at the time I wasn't alone, others I played with exhibited similar symptoms. It's been a long time since I've been back so I'm sure those issues are all but remedied at this point. Would love to bring my kid here for skating one day

Elgin Barrow is the #1 rink in Richmond Hill. It's the home ice for all local rep teams: Stars,…read moreKings, Coyotes. The town's hockey office is here too, right behind the spectators seats of the main ice pad. The main rink has enough seats to host a Jr A or an OHL game. Alas, there is no JrA or OHL team in Richmond Hill. Hence these seats probably never get warm. The way this rink is built, the pillars and columns supporting the roof may block the view for those sitting the upper rows, which is a minus. That's just the way they used to build rinks bank in the day. The arena is warmer than most yet the ice is of decent quality. They have recently renovated the entire arena and the rink has received a sound proofing upgrade. Now it's not as echoey and noisy as before. The secondary rink has only a couple of small benches for the spectators. You can also watch the game or the practice through the glass from the hallway upstairs. The snack shop is usually open and offers coffee, tea and a limited variety of snacks. The pro shop is hardly ever works. At least I have not seen it open in a long while. There is one or two party rooms that are frequently booked for birthdays and other events. There are a few parking spots near the main entrance. There is a time limit there and the town is quick to write a ticket (don't ask me how I know LOL). There is a huge parking lot behind the building, in between the arena and the baseball diamond. And even more parking across the street.

A moment of nostalgia overcame me when, during a random yelp search, I came across this Yelp…read morelisting. As a kid growing up in Richmond Hill, this was minor league hockey Mecca. I can still recall getting my house league hockey assignments in novice and atom and knowing that the games would be in either Elgin Mills East or Elgin Mills west arena. As mentioned already, one side is definitely meant for the likes of a junior team, a seemingly larger ice surface, and tons of seating (far more than a gang of parents huddled together watching a 6am practice can fill). Having a game here as a youngster was like being drafter and playing in the NHL. The other side (much smaller) was meant for younger teams, house league, summer hockey, etc. While the spectator areas were limited, the best seats in the house were from the enclosed viewing deck above. Funny story about the latter, I was once playing goalie in house league and had been just told about the aggressive style of play of the once great Ron Hextal... I took the story far too literally and leveled a kid on the other team with an unsuspecting goalie paddle to the back. Ohhhh boy. Somehow I avoided getting into trouble Ha ha. But you can be the didn't come near MY crease ever again. Glad to hear it's received some much needed renovations as even playing here as a 7-10 year old in the early '90s I could tell the place needed work. But it was home, it's where I got my start and if I'm lucky enough to have kids one day, I'd love to see them play here one day (even if it's just a visiting game). How's that for a #TBT style review.

Centennial Arena is part of the Centennial Recreation Centre…read more A Skate, Swim, Fitness, Dance, Vollyeball multi-usage facility. The main attraction is location, location, location. Also parking, parking, parking. On the occasion I meet up with Friends on Friday evenings for skating, this is it. Reason aside from the above, is the scheduling of their Friday night skate. Public Skate 7:30 - 9pm Adult Skate 9:15 - 10:45pm The two skate times are in two different arenas but considering the combination, a three-hour skate is more than satisfying. The cost of such a facility is the popularity, too much of a crowd during Public Skate althought Adult Skate is more than comfortable but the Adult Skate doesn't have boards for those beginner Adults. TGIF. Enjoy Dinner with Friends. Go for some recreational Skating.

I have been going to Centennial Recreation Centre for the last 3 summers for indoor ice-skating,…read morebut never realized they were listed on Yelp until today. From about May until September, this is the only City of Toronto facility that provides free leisure skating time, and my 4-star rating is generally about the skating facilities as this is the only part that I have used. During the summer, skating times are usually 9.00-10.30pm on Friday and Saturday evenings, and there is always at least one attendant on-duty and usually on the ice. I have mostly gone on Saturdays, and there can be anywhere from 20-30 people there, which on their full-sized ice surface is not very crowded. A few of those people are usually huddled in the centre doing some figure skating, while the rest skate around in the usual oval path; the attendant will signal the skaters to switch direction about halfway thru. There are no boards or permanent seating as in a hockey arena; there is only a short curb around the ice surface, and there are plenty of temporary bleachers around to put on your skates or just take a short break. There are also washroom / changing rooms within the arena, but I have never been in so cannot comment on them. There are also washrooms and a snack bar in the lobby of the centre. Outside of summer, there are additional times during the day available for public leisure skating, as well as other times restricted to children and older-adults (60+). They also offer learn-to-skate programs at various levels, and some type of ice-dance program that I have seen on one of their posters. There is a second rink that I believe is used for hockey only, a swimming pool for both lessons and leisure swimming, and apparently a fitness / weight-room that I have never seen. There are also basketball and tennis courts outside, along with a huge parking lot that has just undergone a complete renovation and re-paving. Overall, a very good recreation centre that provides a wide variety of City-sponsored services to the public.

It was our first time visiting and it certainly didn't disappoint. My kids had a blast! The playground is pretty big with various activities to do. They even have an area of claw machines and an arcade - you can win tickets and redeem for prizes. One thing to mention is finding parking was a bit challenging. They offer party packages but the pricing quite steep in my opinion so I don't think I would consider it. To be honest even the admission is pretty expensive $30 per kid. The playground is nice and clean but I don't think we will be back if that's the price for admission.

My niece is 11 months and they charged $8 (weekend) for the entire day w/ in and out privilege and one adult was free m. Additional adults were $6 (weekend pricing) which isn't so bad compared to other children playground. All children are required to wear grippy socks and adult need to wear regular socks and can also purchase from there for $3. The area is huge! There's a seating area outside in the lobby for those who don't want to go inside and can watch from the outside. There are cubicles to store your shoes. Then inside there's an area for arcade & claw machines for the older children. Bouncy castle, huge playground, and enclosed area for younger kids. There are also plenty of spaces for adults to hang around and a section to buy snacks but seems like it was closed when I was there. I also appreciate them offering slipper for the bathroom cause it was quite wet in the floor. TBH, I wasn't sure what they would have for babies but surprisingly my cousin's 11 month old had a blast! She loved the slides, the wall with the sticks (not sure what they're called), and crawling around in the playground. I feel like they depend more on parent supervision as there was only 2 people working/supervising the area. Overall, fun place for kids!
