Talking about the Paramount Centre (formerly the Hershey Centre) is somewhat difficult because of…read morethe circumstances surrounding its creation. This place wasn't the first choice for what the City of Mississauga wanted, originally gunning for it to be built either in or right near the City Centre. The solution they settled for was a site that was in a virtual dead zone of the city, making it somewhat impractical (if not difficult) for many residents to come here. If you don't have a car, you might as well give up hope of trying to get here on a bus, because they're far too infrequent to matter. That being said, this IS a fantastic place to take in a game. Now the site of the Steelheads, Raptors 905 and the MetroStars, it's clear that the city and the local sports teams are making a big push for Mississauga to claim the crown of the most local sports teams. As a season-ticket holder for the Steelheads and newly-accreditated media practitioner who covers MetroStars games, I've been able to see the arena in a couple different ways. While the new rebranding is fantastic, the site could stand to improve their marketing and advertising. Come here on any given day to watch a team that isn't the Raptors, and you might be disappointed with the attendance. It's always been a struggle to get fans in for games, even when the Icedogs called Mississauga their home. Crowd engagement is just ho-hum, and there needs to be a push to fill seats, because it's a bit disappointing to see the team score and not see the same kind of engagement that a team like the Jays might enjoy from crowds in Toronto. The Paramount branding has blessed this site with Mohamed Faikh's famed Middle Eastern cuisine, and it doesn't disappoint. It might be the best part of the whole experience, because you'll never be let down by the freshly-made shawarma, hummus and other menu items on display. The in-house "regular" concession items made by the centre are a different story. I recently attended the home owner for the MetroStars, and was given access to food and desserts via the VIP lounge. I was extremely disappointed to find that they had trotted out platters of eclairs that were previously-frozen and hadn't completely thawed yet, leaving me to chomp down on a glorified piece of ice. Luckily, the MetroStars smashed through their competition, winning 10-0, so that made up for things. I tend to enjoy visiting the Centre, and despite a few issues here and there, I still think it's a fantastic destination to see numerous sports teams and events (fun fact: I missed out on a chance to see Justin Trudeau when he came to town for a fundraiser here). Paramount has some room to grow, but I'm confident that the staff will make this a landmark destination for the city and bring the crowds. It might take some time, though.

They also had a coffee place serving beverages and at the time offering free hot chocolates. There was live music and while a small rink it ended up being a fun place for small families to gather. There were even warming globes. I have to admit it was actually fun and worth the trek via public transit in. I have driven by this area many times this year. I did a few times when going to Coca-Cola Coliseum for Marlies and PWHL Toronto (now Sceptres) hockey games. Last night, I passed by it heading to Queen Elizabeth Theatre for a concert. I remember when this space was used for parking during the Canadian National Exhibition (The Ex). It was affordable back in the day. You basically parked on the grass, paid for parking, and walked over to the Princess Gates. Good times. Parking for The Ex is atrocious these days. It's better to take the TTC, mainly because this parking space is gone and it's cheaper than shelling out over $30. If you are looking for parking near The Bentway, you've got a couple of Green P options: - 250 Fort York Boulevard - 800 Fleet Street Paying through the Green P app is convenient. If you need to extend your parking stay, it's easy to do through the app than physically returning to the parking machine to pay for parking. The Bentway is popular in the wintertime. It becomes a skating rink where you can rent skates, skate till your heart's content, and grab some hot chocolate. In the summertime, it becomes a rollerskating party every month. You can rent skates, grab a bite to each from food trucks, and visit a few market vendors. I am looking forward to Dominoes. It's basically a community-building activity of laying down giant dominoes along a 2.5 km path through a number of downtown neighbourhoods. They are cutting through The Bentway. The domino run is scheduled for September 22 (tomorrow). It sounds like a lot of fun! The downside is that traffic is horrible in this area. There was a concert and an Argos game at Exhibition Place yesterday. Cutting through this area to get there was painful. When there aren't a lot of activities in the area, The Bentway is a calming, fun place. Otherwise, pack some patience! (371)

Taking a look around, eZone also has a court for ball hockey or basketball, laser tag, golf simulators, pool, ping pong ... and a bar/restaurant attached as well.

This is how an arcade should reinvent itself…read more We were glad to find this Playdium location in Whitby years after the original Square One location closed. The arcade space here is massive featuring many games as well as an elevated rope course and several air hockey tables. We took advantage of the $20 eat up game on deal for kids to have a meal and 1 hr all-you-can-play which can be activated after the meal is eaten to maximize the fun including claw machines. Card fee is extra but can be recharged via a prior game card. There is a large dining space in addition to the party runs ideal for group gatherings. The kids meals were huge, including large pizza slices or burgers that came with fries and a pop drink. Suffice to say our group had a great time at Playdium Whitby for several hours. We miss the old batting diamond at the OG location but this reinvention with Cineplex targets younger kids. Skip it or hit it? Playdium is once again a great place to play and we're glad they're popping up all over the GTA including at this Whitby location.

But it was open when we got there. It's a large venue but I feel like there still isn't enough washrooms for the amount of people. Especially if you have floor seats. There was only one set of washrooms near our seats. There were only 6 stalls in that washroom. When the show ended they actually closed that set of washrooms so we had to go up to the main level to use washrooms there. As usual the women's lineup was much longer than the men's. There is an all gender washroom near the 118 that had a shorter lineup but I didn't want to share a washroom with guys. LOL. The washrooms were clean at least. There was no merch for the event we went to so I can't comment on the services there. It's easy to get to here by transit. On the way home we took a taxi just because it was quite late at night. One thing about the seats I don't like is that they are too close together. I get it, they are trying to fit more seats in so they sell more tickets and make more money. But I was thigh to thigh with the guy next to me on one side. It wasn't comfortable for me. I would love to see more space between seats. Thankfully hubby was on my other side so I still felt safe.

At the entrance you are greeted with staff to sign a waiver on the iPad. Then you have to "check-in" where you purchase your tokens and playground pass if you like. For kids they give them a bracelet and put a parent's phone number in case which is a huge plus! For tokens you can purchase them more inside instead of at the check-in counter. The claw machine tokens are separate though so you'll have to purchase them inside. Once you receive your boarding pass, you give them to the staff there who says "Enjoy your vacation" and go through a mini security. I didn't get many pics because we were honestly too excited and just in awe. After security you go up the escalators and you've entered vacation! It's honestly incredible inside from arcades, to restaurants, darts, VR, golf, baseball, and so many more! They even have a mini store there with snacks, drinks, etc! Just a lot of things. We will come back! It's just amazing here. Gotta take more pics as well this time around. My kids loved it so much. They spent hours at the playground and want to come back again the next day!
