Allen is THE BEST at cutting hair. I have been following/coming to him for 11+ years now, and even though I now live in Cypress, I will still commute to Bellaire (or wherever he is/has been) to see Allen any time I need a hair cut. I am extremely picky and prior finding Allen, I was NEVER fully-satisfied with my haircuts. I have extremely THICK THICK hair, so thick that it billows outward and makes my head look like a big dumb wide-based cone, if I allow just anyone to cut it. Allen is like a hair artist - he is SUPER meticulous, and cuts and "thins" my hair out to 100% PERFECTION. Without me asking, he always takes extra time to make sure my hair looks EXACTLY how I want, which usually takes WELL-over an hour, due to the length and thickness of my hair. I always feel so pretty and confident every time I leave his chair. He is and always will be the ONLY stylist I will let touch my hair, since 2013!! He was gentle on my head, which I really appreciated. One thing that stood out was his consideration--he stepped back and waited for me to finish a phone conversation with my husband before resuming his work. I am happy with my haircut it's very basic so you cannot go wrong, but the price was quite steep. We didn't check the price beforehand, and my sister generously paid for me. James is awesome - I went for a simple hair cut to trim the mess created during covid, it's desperately needed. Great social distancing enforced in the salon is the first thing I noticed. All hair stylists and customers wear masks. The maximum capacity is well controlled too. Very unpleasant experience. I was looking for a haircut that had layers and volume. I showed some pictures to my stylist, he said he knew this one this was very trendy right now which I totally agree with. He showed me some pictures of Hime cuts then I told him that's different from what I want. I gave him the pictures of the haircut I was looking for again then he said he knew what I want. My first time here at ML2 with my brother and we loved the experience! I'm very picky about how my hair is cut because I have the typical coarse, thick hair that Asian guys may have. Always difficult to style and have many strands sticking up and out. I relayed this to my hairdresser and told her to basically surprise me with a haircut of her choice. She took the time to understand my hair before deciding on what to do. This is the final product and more than satisfied. I couldn't stop smiling behind my mask and thanking her for her work! Been looking for a hair stylist closer to where I live and have heard people going to Chinatown a lot for haircuts because of the price. Since my daughter and I needed trims and they were still doing their opening half off special, I decided why not. We both saw Sunghee and it was like getting a hair cut from Edward Scissorhands but without hair flying everywhere. My daughter braved new bangs and she loves her cut. He did ask if I wanted a shampoo - most Asian places charge extra so I said I didn't need one since it was the end of the day and I was going home anyways... Turns out it was already built into the price so I probably should've gotten one to see how it would look like freshly shampooed.. Regular women's cut is $40, which is more expensive than most salons in Chinatown, but less than American salons. It's hard to find a hairstylist in Chinatown that allows appointments so we'll be back. No credit cards - cash, check or debit only. read more

MingLi Tsai gave me the best blunt cut for my fine hair that I have ever had. First, I was greeted with enthusiasm at the door by the staff. Then, I got an amazing and stimulating shampoo (the shampoo staff seems to be all men, so I got a good scrub). I have been bleached and dyed my hair "a thousands of times" with Michael. I do not like my hair being black as it is dull and heavy on me. I wanted to try all cool colors - Brown, ash ( not pink or green crazy color). Michael is very experienced or I would have not trust him to bleach my hair 4-5 times a year, apparently my hair was able to survive every single time and maintain a healthy condition. The hard part about my hair is the black grows out every 3 months and it needs to be bleached and put on color that matches the remaining hair, this tests the hair dresser's skill and experience for sure. I recently bleached my hair, and of course I didn't take care of it properly like I was told . Well, I didn't think that spending $50 on a haircut was right, but after visiting ML2 I changed my mind! I saw that you must make reservations before hand so I did because my homemade quarantine hairstyle needed a rescue. The guy picked up the phone and was very attentive and it was very clear that he knew what he was doing. He asked me if it is for a trim or a change of hairstyle, dye or no, etc. so I managed to schedule a time. On the day of, I was running 15 minutes late (yes you heard it right, shame on me) and they called me to make sure I was still coming. I came and they were waiting for me, I might have shed a tear (pun intended). The hairstylist sat me down and asked if he could take a video of my hair, so I said yes. Apparently this is what they do to all customers to show the before-after. So he asked me what do I want from an aesthetic point and also from a health-of-hair point (am I looking to grow it out or just keep it as is). He even gave me a lot of great advices on how to keep my hair healthy. I asked about hair dye and he gladly shared what he thought would be best for my hair texture and skin tone. The salon is clean and well-kept. My appointment was at 5pm, but I came 25 minutes early and I didn't have to wait long, less than 5 minutes, for Sunghee to call me over. This was my first hair cut with Sunghee, and she was amazing. Thorough and attention to detail, she was focused and took her time. Shampoo is included, which is a nice touch. I'm not one to really make review posts, in fact, this is my first time doing one! But this place needs a glowing recommendation for their amazing service. My friends always told me that I needed to change my hairstyle and I was thinking about getting a Korean perm, but never really had the courage to do it. Eventually I found a friend to go and do my perm with. I'm actually still pretty new to Houston, so I didn't know who I could trust in cutting my hair, but James at the ML2 Hair Design Studio in Kim Son Plaza was one of the best experiences I've ever had. First, the fact that I needed to get this haircut right before the holidays and James made himself available was a type of service I'd never forget. When you go in, they check your temperature and make sure you have a mask on (and they also have a unique way to keep your mask on while cutting your hair!). Everything felt safe and sanitary as I saw the assistant wipe the place down constantly. I told James I wanted to get a Korean perm and that this was my first time getting one. After showing pictures of what kind of look I was going for, he gave me a rundown of what he could do (my hair was too short for the long hair perm style I was trying to go for). He seemed very knowledgeable and reliable when it came to hair and how it should be cut. He also gave directions on how to maintain my perm after the cut. The whole experience was seamless and took about 1.5 to 2 hours. I'll definitely be coming hear for my future cuts and it seems like a lot of people on staff there do a good job on telling you what there recommendations are after considering what you want for your hair. James is my favorite by far! Tipped them more than I usually would after the whole cut because of how much I loved the result and the experience. Probably the two best people who were working at the old ML2 in Dun Huang moved over here! Daniel's been my guy for the past couple of years and I've always had a great haircut from him. Completely independently, my roommate gets his hair cut from James. The area is much smaller, and parking is.... different but just as bad. There seems to always be a wedding or some kind of event that makes it a PITA to find a spot on the weekend. Also at the time of writing, they have half off haircuts!
