TONY IS AMAZING!…read more Here's my story: I contacted Transformations Fitness (which I found here on Yelp) for my 10-day stay in Honolulu in February, I didn't want to get out of shape just to get back into shape when I returned to California. I signed up for Tony's semi-private sessions which seem like private sessions (his sessions are at Kaka'ako Fitness which is shared with other trainers and patrons of the fitness center). For my first session, Tony definitely took it easy on me. He took me through the stretching routine that I did at the beginning of each session. The link to routine is sent to your email with a helpful youtube clip of the stretches. Also during this first session, Tony inquired about my goals and what I wanted to work on during my training session. During my sessions that followed, Tony helped me become stronger physically and mentally throughout the short time he trained me. Tony guided me through exercises that were familiar as well as new ones. I requested that he incorporated kettle bell exercises and he followed through with that request. I enjoyed my sessions with Tony and I would definitely come back when I am back in town. You could try talking yourself out of a rep, but Tony is great at what he does and is able to coach you through your limiting beliefs and assist you through your transformation process. I emailed a couple places and Rey quickly responded to my inquiry and I scheduled an initial visit. Feeling very inadequate like someone who forgot their lightsaber at a Star Wars convention, I walked into his gym. Rey is so friendly and mellow it's was like talking to a long time friend. He listened to my concerns and set up a program customized for me. As I continued going, I got very comfortable at his gym, where folks are nice and only focused on their individual fitness. I originally went only to lose more weight but Rey taught me so much more. He customizes your regime according to you. I have a significant slouch and Rey has helped me with corrective posturing. He has taught me about safe weight lifting (to prevent injuries), nutrition (how to eat) and techniques to use at home. Rey is truly a master in all aspects of health and fitness. I feel better, have more energy and my posture has vastly improved. I find exercising a huge part of my routine now. I met some nice ladies at his gym and I've been inspired by their muscles to continue my own fitness path. I highly recommend Rey if you are focused on getting right with your body and health.

I had just given birth to my daughter, and as a physical trainer, he helped me find my way back to core strength with no injury. I had suffered from pelvic pain and was really afraid of starting to exercise again and Dan designed my workout perfectly to avoid injury while working out muscle just the right amount. Given my desk job, I had a lot of pain in different parts of my body and as a physical therapist, he knew exactly what exercise to recommend, he performed massage and even chiropractic to align my body and the pain would ease. He always kept our exercise fun with different moves, and I couldn't believe it but I actually looked forward to our time together. I had to stop working with him because I moved. I really miss him!

Mentally exhausted? Go to the gym. Deciding whether to send that angry email? Go to the gym. The coaches are super chill and fun, as are the members. There's a program for every body and for every goal. My weight has not changed by much but my clothes are fitting a lot better than they did a year ago and I am stronger. Sometimes the coaches nudge me to take heavier weights but I like to "pace myself" haha! Parado Power is a clean (everyone wipes down their equipment) and bright and well-ventilated gym in a convenient location. Parking is plentiful (for the most part, depending on the time) and free with validation. Towels are provided and the water dispenser was upgraded not too long ago. First class is free; visit the website and sign up for a spot in group class!

I first encountered StretchLab at a wellness fair where they were offering a quick 10-minute…read moreone-on-one stretch. Right away, I felt super comfortable with my flexologist and walked away refreshed. They were also promoting a 50-minute introductory one-on-one stretch for a discounted price of $59 at their studio. I figured, why not? Parking is located at Ward and it's about a 5 minute walk to the studio. The location itself is spacious, nice, and clean. The stretching area is open, so you'll be around others while having your session. You'll also need grip socks during your session. If you don't have any, they sell them there. For the intro session, the socks are included, which is a nice touch. They start by asking about any problem areas, injuries, or places you would like extra attention. For the introductory one-on-one session, they run an assessment scan to check your mobility, posture, activation, and symmetry, which helps them customize your session. For my appointment, I had Joshua as my flexologist and he was amazing. Very friendly, professional, super attentive, and easy to talk to. It honestly felt like I known him for years. He made the whole experience very comfortable and enjoyable. The only downside for me is the price. Memberships start at $219 per month for 4 25-minute one-on-one sessions with a 3-month commitment. Non-member pricing is $65 for a 25-minute one-on-one session or $125 for a 50-minute one-on-one session. They also offer non-membership packages starting at $179 for 3 25-minute sessions and you'll need to use it within a certain period. While it is still a little out of my price range, I can definitely see the value. I really did enjoy my experience at StretchLab and left feeling great. If your budget allows, I highly recommend giving it a try. And if you can, book with Joshua! He made the experience awesome!
