He focuses on long-term health goals and the safety of the exercises based on science and experience. While training with Charles I regained my confidence and went from 135lbs to 112lbs while gaining lean muscle mass and improving strength, agility, and flexibility. He has a…read moreMaster's degree and also teaches a Human Anatomy and Physiology class at KCC, so yes he knows his sh*t. I learned about him through a friend who has trained with Charles for over 2 years, who invited me to trial a couple of classes. I enjoyed the group workouts, usually there are about 4-5 of us. He also trains high school students and middle school students. For about $130/month I got a personal training plan, and 1+ hours training every Saturday and also sometimes on a random weekday as well. He is flexible with scheduling and can probably fit you in a number of group sessions that he runs during the week. Effective? : After training with Charles for 2 months, I can now do 2 pullups (couldn't do 1 before) and shaved my Kokohead climb time from 45 minutes to 26 minutes. i learned how to deadlift with proper form, do a complex, do ladder drills, squat with proper form, headstand. LOTS of metabolic workouts... sometimes this requires heading outside and running around the block. He will push you only to your personal limit. Once something starts to hurt or tighten he will adjust your workout or teach you a stretch to strengthen or stretch the particular muscle. Location: he is located in the self storage in kapahulu. did i find this weird initially? yes, but there are actually a ton of other business that run inside this self storage unit. who knew?? Recommendation: If you resolve to get fit within a group setting, go see Charles and he'll make sure you have a fun and educational time working out. Better yet, bring a friend or two and it will be more fun as you can talk openly during the training session as well as support each other.

BUT in one of my rabbit-hole spiraling moments in the first week of June, I found Mkg8nz on Yelp not realizing he was about to change my POV and fitness mentality for me. Zeke is a very skillful, intelligent and intentional trainer. He does all the thinking for you and all you have to do is show up for yourself every single day. He changed my perspective of gyms being absolutely terrifying and intimidating when you are out of shape and/ or overweight. Truthfully, the hardest part for me was showing up that first day being a total newb in strength training. And it helps SO MUCH when your trainer is fun and keeps things lighthearted to see if you're listening. He started me off with training three times a week and a strict calorie deficit regiment for the first month. He is really good at reading his client's needs and is very intentional in his training methodology. Now after helping me lose 7 lbs, gain a new perspective on strength training and mental clarity, you don't notice it, but the fat just melts off on its own and your clothes start fitting so much better. Once again, all you have to do is SHOW UP for yourself! The rest will follow. I am so grateful for all the muscle aches, sweat and tears these past four months and I can confidently recommend Mkg8nz to any guy or gal looking to take your fitness journey to the next level. Zeke is down to earth, knows what he's talking about and knows what he's doing in the gym. You can see that as soon as you meet him. He is quite caring and an observant trainer. He encourages you at the exact moment right before you're about to give up. He will literally remind you why you started in the first place.

In 90 days, I lost 40 lbs, gained a ton of muscle, lost my double chin, lost my spare tire, my cravings changed, my energy came back, my snoring is gone, and I sleep like a baby. I have great habits now and I feel in control of my health again. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MKG8NZ to anyone who wants to feel strong, confident, energized, healthy, and proud of who you are. The Yelp page shows the folks he trains for professional body building competitions BUT you can see by going to his personal webpage he works with ALL ages, ALL body types and will cater a training routine that works for your specific goals. However unfortunately my training regiment as far as I knew was an hindrance towards my golf game, but at the same time I enjoyed golfing and was not planning on to give that up either. I was slowly coming to the realization that I would unfortunately have to give up weight lifting if I wanted to pursue my passion of developing my golf game. A friend who was widely aware of my conundrum referred me to Earl, a trainer with a weight lifting background who just happened to specialize in golf fitness. I called him up and knew right away Earl would help me attain my goals. This was because he could relate to my mindset considering he was once a competitive lifter. Earl took the time to analyze what I was currently doing during my weight lifting sessions. From there, instead of changing my usual workout regiment, he found ways of incorporating more flexibility and explosion motions that would help toward my golf game. It was his ability to listen, relate, and attune to my issues that helped me realized that I didn't have to give up my joy of weight lifting for golf, and in fact, that there was a lot of correlation between the two. I am so blessed to have found him as a trainer and even more blessed to call him a friend. I would recommend anyone interested in general fitness or more specifically golf fitness to him in a heart beat.

He also does an assisted stretch to help lengthen muscles and increase range of motion for tight muscles and tendons. I can't recommend Earl enough.
