I came to Alyssa with chronic pain and persistent post-concussion symptoms (also known as post-concussion syndrome). I had already done a lot of of concussion rehab but that plus my perfectionist overachiever personality had pushed my nervous system too far. My symptoms were still severely limiting my life. Alyssa was amazing in meeting me where I was at and I've grown so much through my coaching with her. She has such a calm, inviting presence, even online it shines through. The vision drills have helped my eyes calm down and I'm even able to start driving some. We worked through some chronic pain in my foot to slowly build up to me being able to walk my son to school! Alyssa is a great listener and I find our sessions are so fun because we are uncovering another layer to work on! Her calm and gentle approach to vision and vestibular exercises is the perfect speed for my nervous system. Slowly, week by week we are expanding my world and I continue to learn more about myself. She is super professional and empathetic and a genuine wonderful human being. read more

Alyssa is so wise and incredibly compassionate. I came to her after a concussion I didn't think was "that bad" ended up triggering a cascade of symptoms when I was already in a very burnt out, overwhelmed body. When I came to Alyssa, she assured me that the burn out, overwhelm, and extreme mental and emotional discomfort I was feeling were real, valid, and normal considering everything I'd been through pre-concussion. Having someone who truly sees you through a painful time was life-changing, and the tools, skills, and mindset shifts she taught me have transformed how I relate to my symptoms and body. Thank you, Alyssa, for teaching me so much in such a short amount of time so I could truly start to regulate my nervous system and take care of myself with real tools and loving clarity. read more

Are you just physically and mentally stuck...so stuck that you randomly start google searching personal life coach/physical trainer? That's how my journey to meeting Alyssa Chang began. No idea what neuroscience based coaching meant and still don't really know...but what I read on Alyssa's business profile page resonated. I can't explain exactly what Alyssa Chang does but the coaching she provides has been so beneficial that I have already referred her to countless people. Alyssa meets you where you are mentally and physically. She provides roadmaps on how to recognize and address "traumas" in your life with immediate actionable neuroscience exercises, like eye movements and breathing techniques, in addition to physical exercises. Mouth tape and bag breathing are two of my favorite techniques Alyssa introduced me to. My vagus nerve is now starting to live its best life! read more

I loved my whole experience with Alyssa! I learned so much about self trust and navigating my nervous system with techniques I've never heard about before. She is truly unique in what she provides to you and I do believe anyone could benefit! read more

I had the privilege of working with Alyssa back in 2023 as a member of her Better Expert program. I'm writing this review now in 2025 because 1: life gets busy and 2: I still find myself returning back to all of the practices she's taught me over and over and over.... Because THEY WORK. Even before working with Alyssa, I really enjoyed her content on social media. And I'm pretty skeptical about "self-help" things so when I found that the bite-sized teachings and practices she posted made a substantial impact on my daily life, I knew I had to learn more. With Alyssa's help, I now know how to identify when my body needs extra love and how to perform daily maintenance to keep my brain and body feeling good. Healing the brain first and then the body is not a one-size-fits-all deal. She took the time to help me find practices that worked just for me. I highly recommend Alyssa if you're looking for someone that has a warm, down-to-earth way of showing up. I never felt like she was trying to 'fix' me. She never came from a place of ego or authority, but rather held space with genuine care and humility. read more

I participated in a six-week course with Alyssa called Expedition, and it truly opened up parts of me I didn't even realize needed healing. I came in with an open mind - curious, but not entirely sure what I'd walk away with. What I found was a deeper awareness of the disconnection I had been living with between my nervous system, my body, and myself. Before this course, I didn't fully understand how that disconnection was affecting other parts of my life - how it was showing up in my energy, my emotions, even my relationships. Alyssa created such a gentle, safe space for that awareness to surface and be met with compassion. Her private studio in Honolulu is tucked behind a beautiful garden and is filled with light and calm energy. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and held. Alyssa's presence is warm, grounding, and deeply intuitive. The practices she shared were simple, science-based, and incredibly impactful. Each week built on the last in a way that made the process feel accessible, yet deeply transformative. I walked away not only with practical tools to regulate my nervous system, but with a new relationship to my body - one based on trust, care, and listening. If you're looking for a gentle but powerful way to reconnect with yourself, Alyssa is the coach for you. Her work blends neuroscience with heart, and creates a path for healing that feels safe, real, and lasting. read more

Alyssa is a FANTASTIC coach! Throughout the time I worked with her, she has been the most kind, supportive, patient, and just wonderful human being. The techniques she taught me to use when my anxiety spikes, or even just to get my day started have changed my life. My functional freeze response was something that she and I talked at length about and with her mindfulness and encouragement, I have been able to carry those techniques, movements and thoughts and make them everyday habits that truly have changed my way of thinking and made me connect my mind, body and spirit in a way that I haven't in many years. I cannot recommend her enough! Even after she and I parted ways, she still checks in and truly shows what a beautiful soul she is and how much she cares for her clients. THANK YOU ALYSSA!!! read more

Life changing, delightfully mind-blowing, compassionate and empowering . . . is the type of life coaching Alyssa provides. After 5 years of being curious about her neuroscience based coaching, I took the leap and signed up for Better Expert. Alyssa demonstrated genuine interest in helping me to become "unstuck" and pivoted without judgement into one on one sessions when I realized I felt overwhelmed about taking on the entire program. Through humor and kindness, as well as informed understanding of the mind-body connection, Alyssa has fortified me with my own set of "tools", exercises, and mantras that allow me to slow down and regulate my emotions and physical responses to triggers. I feel so much more relaxed and able to enjoy my life and the improved relationships with my friends and loved ones that Alyssa's coaching has impacted! read more

I had never heard of neuroscience health coaching before speaking with Alyssa. After speaking with Alyssa about her methodology, we decided to sign up for some training sessions for my son who struggles with ADHD. Alyssa quickly picked up on the parts of my son's brain that may be weak and need support. Then, she taught my son specific exercises to strengthen the parts of his brain that needed help. She even discovered that my son's breathing is not ideal and that he needs to develop his diaphragm. Alyssa explained each process to us in detail so we would understand what's happening in the brain and body. We could see the results instantaneously! We will definitely continue on with neuroscience health coaching. Alyssa is an amazing coach. She is clear, concise, understanding, and very knowledgable in her field. In my opinion, everyone should sign up for neuroscience health coaching sessions as what person does not need a brain boost and performance upgrade? read more

I've had the privilege of working with Alyssa online and in-person, in group setting and 1:1 and they are all wonderful experiences. Ever since I went through Alyssa's Better Expert program in 2023 my mind and body awareness has improved immensely. I used to deal with frequent recurring pain in my upper back, jaw and right knee. I used to get frequent massages and go to the chiropractor, but when I started addressing them through neuroscience, I was able to learn why the pain would appear. It wasn't just physical, it was emotional and stress related. Now I know how to address when certain symptom show up in my body and re-regulate my nervous system. This is especially important as a parent so I can be present from a regulated state. I love Alyssa's professional approach but she also made me feel comfortable sharing anything that came up during the program. I tell everyone I know about Alyssa's coaching because it transformed the way I approach fitness, health and wellness. read more

I worked with Alyssa the past 6 months as a member of her Better Expert program. Alyssa's coaching is unique and so impactful. Her approach to overall health and wellness through a neuroscience and trauma informed lens is unlike anything I've experienced before. I would recommend her to anyone looking to invest in their healing. Working with Alyssa and experiencing her program have been truly transformational. read more

I reached out to Alyssa thinking that I just need some help with my health overall and with weight loss. But once I started the BEOB program with her, she was able to identify more fundamentally what I needed to work on with my health, namely my gut health and to get in more breathing and easy movements into my day. I think she literally changed my whole perspective on how I view my whole health journey, without it feeling so stressful, overwhelming, and emotionally deflating. She has given me tools and perspectives that I will can use for the rest of my life! Overall, she has taught me how to be a lot more mindful in all aspects of my health and to not discount other things that are going on in my life that are affecting my health. read more

I've been working with Alyssa the past 6 months in her Better Expert program and feel confident in my ability to progress toward my health goals for the first time in years. She is such a compassionate, efficient, and knowledgeable Coach who helped me get clear on what trauma I've experienced and how that has affected my body, and overall well-being. I'm better educated, resourced, and supported because of the things I learned and practiced with her. Most importantly, I'm finally taking intentional action in caring for myself and continuing to heal my trauma and body, because of the motivation I've gained. read more

Coach Alyssa Chang is a solid 5 star experience :) Why? A: Awesome - Alyssa is just awesome - go book her right now if you can manage to find a slot. If you are short on time and don't want to read the rest of this review - just go experience it! L: Listens well and makes me feel "heard" - she's not just listening as in not speaking but seek to understand the full context of the situation so she develops empathy for her clients. Y: Yes, yes, yes - if you only have budget to work with one personal coach, make that Alyssa. By far, she's the most knowledgeable and most pleasant personal coach that I have ever worked with! Think of your most nerdy friend when it comes to human physiology but combined with a very pleasant interface S: Serious - Alyssa takes her craft very seriously. She's able to explain, in clear scientific terms, why certain movements or recommendations make sense. S: Simple - I apprepriated her very simple techniques that I can incorporate into daily living. For example, 'how about breathing this way while you are waiting for check-out at Costco?' While not all of the techniques worked for me, I appreciate that they are very doable A: Alliviate - working with her helped alliviate the many pains that I have had for a long time - lower back pain from weird sitting positions and joint pains from having poor postures in running and weight training read more

Working with Alyssa has changed my entire life - and I don't say that lightly. I'm so deeply grateful for her support, compassion and deep knowledge of neuroscience. Working with her has shown me a completely different way of looking at my brain, body + wellness. For the first time in my 38 years on this planet, I'm beginning to feel at home in my body. read more

Part Jedi Master, part Master Chef, & all heart of gold. Take everything you know about personal trainers and throw it away; Coach Alyssa shatters the standard molds. I didn't think that I would ever go down the personal training path. Seeing a bit about Alyssa's program on her web site led me to want to learn more. Prior experiences had resulted in scenarios where the more I pushed, the more harm I eventually seemed to do to my body. I also knew my body performance was highly correlated to various sensory input (lighting, temperature, sound levels, etc). While I was keenly aware of this relationship, I really hadn't discovered the right recipe (from the right Master Chef) for optimal performance, general body strength and flexibility, and just all around feeling well throughout the week. Alyssa has that ideal combination of experience and adaptability. While she has seen a lot, learned a lot and has extensive depth and breadth in her overall program, she is always ready to connect two completely new dots together. And quite often she is at least as excited as me when we discover new relationships and techniques. Before working with Alyssa I had a hypothesis that my overall body well-being required harmony between: general activity level, training, nutrition, sleep, environment, and sensory inputs. The hypothesis has been fully proven, in thanks to my fitness Jedi Master and I am most grateful. (Alyssa hasn't watched Star Wars, but maybe my metaphor will be enough to get her to finally roll the film series!) read more

"Coach" is the perfect word for Alyssa. I've worked with personal trainers and nutritionists before, and Alyssa is all that and more! She focuses on improving your overall life (nutrition, exercise, psychological). Working with her, I learned about and explored many new and powerful areas (e.g., nerve glides, collagen peptides). Also, Alyssa is always receptive to whatever crazy or not crazy things you might want to try (e.g., 5:2 intermittent fasting), while at the same time she works to steer you towards "the light". She gives 100% of herself when she's with you, and she stays in touch with you when she's not with you. I always feel Alyssa is in my corner! Engage with Alyssa. You'll thank yourself and be a better you! read more

Coach Alyssa Chang is one amazing woman!! :) I came to her initially with the intention of improving my knee mobility after having surgery. However, I got so much more from the program because of who Alyssa is as a coach. Through the BEOB program, she has helped me become more in touch with my body in so many aspects. I have been able to change my beliefs surrounding exercise, food, and stress, making her program a total game changer for me! Both her and her program have given me the tools I need in order to be the best version of myself :) Alyssa takes the time to ensure that every single client has a program that is tailored to them and their needs. With our one on one coaching calls, she makes me feel heard and seen, adjusting my program when needed, to fit where I am in my journey. Because of her passion and care for her clients, she quickly becomes both a coach and a friend. I highly recommend to have Alyssa as your coach!! She is such an inspiration and will be a great foundation to your journey :) read more

Wow! Where to even start... Hiring Alyssa to guide my health journey has been the best decision I have ever made. It takes a very strong and talented person to lead a group of women through a transformation health journey.   From working with Alyssa, I feel so much more grounded and at peace with myself from all the work we have done over the past 12 weeks. A true testament to her coaching, mentorship, and guidance! Alyssa taught me how to love myself, be kind to myself, and listen to my body. She resparked my love for movement and learning about movement. Something that was missing in me for so long.  She was more than a coach, but also a friend that I could talk to and lean on.  Her leadership and grace in her business inspires me to be the best entrepreneur I can be, in a way that is authentic to myself.  She has been by far the best coach that I have ever had. She showed up for us, day after day, with compassion and understanding.  I am forever grateful for our time together and now have the tools I need to take back control of my health. Look no further! read more

Alyssa is a rare gem, shining and sparkling in a pile of grey stones. She puts everything into her business and her client's care. She thinks about every move she makes and is very knowledgable. Being with Alyssa, you KNOW she is listening. She has personally been through a lot of ups and downs with her own physique, nutrition, body image and self love, and came out on the other side and now it is her mission to help others truly truly love themselves from the inside out. Not only she is very educated but she continues to learn and seek out current up to date information. I recommend her for coaching anyone on their health journey, but I would suggest ONLY HER in that entire area. There is no one else I would 100% my loved ones with. Her heart comes from a TRUE GENUINE desire to impact lives in a healthy sustainable way. I am lucky I know her! read more

Coach Alyssa Chang - Trainers Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

TLDR: I've been training with Alyssa for about 3 months now and I'm already noticing many great changes. SHE IS AMAZING. I had a hard time finding the right trainer because I went through two big surgeries: scoliosis (spine) and meniscus tear (knee). And I really needed someone to be super attentive, careful and also thoughtful of the exercises he or she will teach me. I was honestly a little stubborn and scared because I felt like all the personal trainers I've searched are hardcore/spartan style, but Alyssa made time to do a free 1 hour consultation and she asked very specific questions (which is great because she truly wants to understand each client's needs) and also is an amazing listener. In the beginning, I can tell that she was the perfect trainer I needed because she was super observant, asked a lot of questions to sincerely understand my body like it was hers. She catered exercises for my body type and I was the type of person who hated going to the gym because the thought of it was just boring so honestly when I started with Alyssa, my only plan of getting some workout was through her sessions; however, now I am addicted to going to the gym! She never forces you to go to the gym, but learning her exercises just motivated me to go. I am so happy I met her and I don't hesitate to contact me if you also have questions about more of my experience. read more

I honestly can't recommend Alyssa enough. I was looking for personal trainers near where I worked and decided to try her out based on reviews, and oh my gosh am I so glad I did. I had first started working with on private 1-on-1s and then went through her BEOB program and they were both amazing experiences. To say this program changed me would be an understatement. After a few years of not taking care of myself (physically and mentally) I now look at heath and fitness with a new lens that I wouldn't have been able to have without Alyssa's guidance and knowledge. She's able to provide the tools for you to navigate and better understand yourself and your body. Alyssa's approach to health is all encompassing, more than just what you eat and how you work out and for me that was the missing piece. Through our 1-on-1s and weekly check-ins, Alyssa creates this environment where you don't feel judged and you're truly being listened to and heard from. She truly listens and knows that everyone's journey is different and creates individual goals to be tailored to our needs. Instead of trepidation, I look forward to my health journey knowing that I have the skill set Alyssa has provided, something I can truly say with confidence. I'm so happy to have reached out to her! read more

I stumbled across Alyssa when yelping "best personal trainer" in Mountain View. I was feeling pretty bleh about myself and wanted to kick start my butt into gear. I didn't really know what I was going to get / what to expect when searching for a personal trainer (all I knew is I didn't want anyone screaming at me) but I'm SO GLAD I found Alyssa! When I read all her rave reviews, I had to learn more. I felt from her reviews, her site, and her instagram page that I found she was exactly the type of person I'd want to work with. I filled out the "getting in touch" section and the rest was history. In a very short amount of time, Alyssa knew me and all my quirks / nuances. You can immediately tell she is passionate about her clients / what she does and I appreciated the support I had when working with her. She would always bring up things I'd like / benefit from in our sessions and send over email recaps / recommendations which I greatly appreciated. They would include drills, intentions, journaling, recommendations, etc! She helped me change my relationship with food - such simple concepts I just really didn't even think about! I would send her photos of my food and I quickly learned that she never discouraged me or told me "that's bad". Instead, had me think about how I felt and thanked me for sending over my food (or heart-ing my delicious looking salads! :) The drills she had me do (which honestly, I was SUPER surprised such tiny movements had such a big impact) helped me understand my body (what it likes and what it doesn't). I still do them today! I could honestly go on and on about Alyssa. It is impossible to not want to be around her positive / amazing / encouraging energy. I was thinking I'd end up finding someone who would just make me squat and do 100s of burpees but instead, I found the most thoughtful, caring, extremely knowledgable wellness / nutritionist / life / personal trainer all lumped into one! The sessions go by super fast and you just want to sit and hang out and learn more! I'm so grateful for you, Alyssa - Mahalo! :) read more

I will add to the plethora of other 5-star reviews that Alyssa already has. A little bit of background on me & my fitness history: I've never been athletic in my life. I never played sports in high school and only started having a concept of "exercise" senior year of college. I mainly just did 30min on the elliptical every now and then. After college, I explored various group fitness classes, yoga classes, Bikini Body Guide, etc. I could never stick to anything and developed thoughts like "I have to exercise like X" or "I need to eat like Y". I even tried personal training but stopped doing that a few months in. After being in a pattern of this for 5 years and tired of not "feeling healthy", I found Alyssa over Yelp & read her philosophies online. I then chatted with her on the phone, and it was clear to me that Alyssa was different from trainers who just wanted you to sweat as much as possible and stick to "healthy eating". From February through June of last year, I trained with Alyssa twice a week. I did not have a specific goal in mind like weight loss or being able to deadlift X pounds, but I did want to develop a healthy relationship with eating and moving my body. Alyssa took me through exercises based on what my body was feeling that week and taught me that everyone's bodies and lives are different. She focused on not only physical health, but also mental and spiritual health. After training with her for 4-5 months, I decreased our training to just once a week because I was confident I could program and do my own workout the other day of the week. I worked with her in this capacity from June till December. I moved up to SF this January and haven't trained with Alyssa since last year, but this is the first time in my life that I feel fully equipped to regularly exercise and eat in a way that's moderate. I can't explain how freeing it is to not feel like I have to match anyone else's expectations but feel like I have something I can do for the rest of my life. I now do strength training twice a week (including many tips to warm up my body that Alyssa taught me) and yoga once a week. I've been doing this since January and disruptions like going on vacation hasn't stopped me from getting back into it. Alyssa is such a kind and informative coach who is also very much a friend that cares about your wholistic well-being. Especially as a woman in this society, I've benefited so much from her coaching. Thanks, Alyssa for helping me to achieve a sustainable lifestyle! read more

Meeting Alyssa has been a gift that I will have for the rest of my life. I don't usually have a habit of sitting down to write reviews but she really is the best so I wanted to share that with everyone and anyone looking for an incredible wellness coach. Alyssa exudes such warmth that it feels like talking with a lifelong friend. She listens intently, is patient and very understanding. Before I met her, I didn't know what a wellness coach did and honestly, I didn't think I needed one. I was completely wrong. Alyssa has helped change my relationship with food, dieting and my body. I used to use a variety of dieting methods like calorie counting, Paleo, Keto or intermittent fasting. I was very strict on what I would allow myself to eat and what I would not eat. But strong cravings would eventually kick in and I would cave. Or I would become super ravenous on one particular night and eat everything that I deemed as off limits. Then Monday comes and I'm back to eating only protein and veggies and the cycle continues. I thought I would basically have to be on some sort of diet for my whole life. And some small part of me was okay with that. But life is so much better when I'm not constantly thinking about food, calories, the scale, or what I can't eat! Alyssa works with you on understanding food myths and your food noises. We talked about digestion, liver detox, cravings, binging, how to eat when traveling, detoxing off of the pill, emotional eating, how to take care of yourself when work gets crazy and so much more. She is extremely knowledgeable and I learned so much from her. I recommend her without any hesitation. She is amazing. I think of her as my food therapist. I rarely have cravings now. I don't binge anymore. I don't obsess about food. I am mindful when I eat and I have learned to listen to my body. It's so much more freeing to live this way. If you are reading this and wondering if you should book a session with Alyssa, go for it! You should absolutely invest in yourself. read more

I trained with Alyssa for most of 2012 and would have continued training with her if I didn't move away from Palo Alto. She is extremely attentive and knows exactly how hard to push you without making you feel sick afterwards. Alyssa will also make sure your form is solid. The workouts were constantly varying so I never got bored. One of the things I really liked about Alyssa's training style are her post-workout followups. She is great at following up after workouts to see how I am feeling and also provided helpful feedback on my diet when I showed her my food log. Even when I was traveling for work, she would email me to see how I was feeling. I'm 36 now and have never been in better shape my whole life. As a software engineer who sits in front of the computer most of the day, I can't say there is a single other investment I've made in my life so far that makes me feel better about myself on a daily basis than training with Alyssa. Even though I've moved to San Francisco and have a new trainer there, if I ever have to spend time in Palo Alto for more than a few days for business I will try to schedule a training session with her. She's THAT good! read more

Alyssa's empathy, compassion and deep understanding of the human body, mind and spirit creates an experience unlike any other. The perspectives and skills learned working with Alyssa have become foundational to how I see and navigate life. I believe the universe has the capacity to provide outcomes greater than we could even imagine. Better Expert was just that, a gift more beautiful than I could have ever dreamed of. As I moved though, I found myself naturally flowing into greater alignment with my authentic self. Alyssa's intuitiveness in building this course was experienced in full effect as I often would begin to notice a shift in myself and sure enough, that was the next coaching call topic. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to work with a coach whose vision is clear and whose ability to guide others into their own self healing is led with grace and an open heart. Alyssa's continuous support, guidance and evolution in how she creates a healing space for others is truly inspiring. Thank you for being a beacon of light leading the way and illuminating the light within ourselves. read more

Alyssa is hands down the best of the best. Yes, she is incredibly passionate, knowledgeable, and keeps up with the current research in her field, however, these are not necessarily the traits that make her the top of the line. What sets her apart is her character- she is a compassionate practitioner that chooses to wholeheartedly invest, support, and empower each individual with the deepest humility and empathy. As countless others have mentioned, her methods resemble more than your average "personal training" session. Her philosophy for clients is geared towards developing healthy lifelong habits- mentally, emotionally, and physically. I always joke that her sessions are such a deal- you get a nutritionist, personal trainer, physical therapist, mental health therapist, and a friend rolled into one! I highly recommend Alyssa and encourage you to invest in your overall well-being with the best of the best! read more

Since the very beginning of discovering Alyssa's Instagram page, I was inspired. Not just because her physique is amazing or because she has cool workout videos, but because she showed all her followers, including me, that the body you're in is the body you should love. At any step in our fitness fitness journeys, she promoted body positivity. She showed that regardless of my setbacks, I should continue to push forward in whatever direction I was heading with the mindset that I am beautiful, strong, and can overcome my challenges. Through her openness about her struggles with her metabolism, she opens our eyes to what we can do to better understand our bodies. I struggle with motivation and managing my self esteem. She emanates her positivity through her pictures and her videos. Anything she does we can do at home and that in and of itself is motivating to get up and try some of the things she demonstrates. Any interaction I have had with Alyssa has been motivating. From contacting her for training, to contacting her solely for fitness advice. She has been so helpful in my search for balance. Not only in the fitness world, but my mental health as well. read more

It's taken me a while to write this review because putting words together for a woman and coach this caring and compassionate for what she does is a hard task. So let's begin... Alyssa is one of those people you wish you could chat with daily. Not only is she knowledgeable in nutrition, form, functional movement, but she's fueled by a passion to help others succeed in becoming best friends in their own life. I worked with Alyssa for a short period of time to help me transition from old fitness habits into redefining new ones. Being a new budding health coach myself, I'm really particular about the people I choose to work with and support my life with as well. She not only helped me to become more intentional about my movement, but she helped me recognize my own personal abilities, experience, and knowledge; something you don't get from any other personal trainers. My favorite thing about her coaching style is her ability to help one strengthen their own intuition by giving space for one to listen to their bodies. In a world where society tells us that we're broken and not living up to their standards of beauty, fitness, or health Alyssa is there to help guide you to create your own standards while working towards a life filled with intentional movement and purpose. Thank you Alyssa in all that you do for me and this world! read more

I love Alyssa's wellness coaching style for many reasons, off the bat I have to say how I appreciate that she incorporates mental health/self-care resources. I am a very anxious person, and a lot of the techniques and knowledge she offers in her guidebook are now practices that I have incorporated into my daily routine to check in with myself and really keep track of my emotions so I don't feel like they are controlling me. With that said, instead of putting all the focus on physical appearance or just diet and nutrition in order to look and feel great about yourself, Alyssa's approach is super relevant for those out their who are really trying to make life changes that last. Its nice to know and have confidence that she really cares and wants you to be able to get to know yourself and your body in new ways than you did before. Secondly, she understands that everyone's health journey doesn't have to look the same and takes the time to learn your specific health needs rather then just giving you a "one size fits all answer". Not only are you getting top of the line knowledge and expertise in health and wellness from Alyssa while you are with her, but she will trek with you on that journey no matter what, being 100% approachable along the way. Five stars all the way! read more

I found Alyssa through an interview series I had registered for and was immediately intrigued by her work. As a neuroscientist and someone who has had to compete physically at an elite level, I was very drawn to her approach. I will admit that I was a unique client in the sense that I came into the program with a high level of self awareness and knowledge of the brain and nervous system; however despite coming in with a lot of knowledge I got a lot out of the program. With Alyssa's guidance I was able to customize the program to meet my needs and ultimately was able to get external permission to do less. I started the program extremely worn out and fatigued, but after only a few short months I was able to see incredible changes. Alyssa has set me up to continue to do this work and live a much more balanced lifestyle. read more

Alyssa has been a total game changer for me! I have worked with other coaches in the past and have even competed in 2 bikini competitions. After each of my past experiences, I always left feeling more lost and like I was missing a piece of myself. In the past, I had not learned true, healthy habits and had only participated in programs that were not feasible for me to maintain in day to day life. I had gained more weight and my body was hurting. Since working with Alyssa, I have learned how to listen to my body again - funniest thing, it will actually tell you what it needs to heal and to perform its best! I've been able to define what healthy means to me, what that looks like and how to make it so. I have learned about my body's nutritional needs, movement needs and rest needs and how to fulfill them all without feeling overwhelmed and lost. Alyssa truly listens - and even more, makes you listen to yourself and really think about you. She is kind and funny and makes uncomfortable work a whole lot more tolerable! Her knowledge of the body and all of its components (ie: nervous system, metabolic system) are invaluable and unbeatable! I look forward to every session and learning something new about myself, my body and my capabilities! read more

When I think of Alyssa, I always have positive thoughts. She's supportive, understanding, listens without judgement and follows through. She is the first and only trainer I've ever worked with that made me more aware of my body--not just how to move, but how it works, what it likes and not just succumbing to the idea of what you're "supposed" to do because it's healthy. Her philosophies really vibe with me because she works individually on the person, not from a cookie-cutter format. Her philosophies are sustainable and healthy, not for short-term fixes. Alyssa's program is great because she really works with your lifestyle and I love having our conversations because she really makes you feel that support you need even when you think you haven't made any progress. She's present, in the moment, supportive and super helpful. Plus, her squats are just amazeballs. :-) read more

Alyssa has had a profound impact on my perception of my abilities. Before working with Alyssa, the confidence I had in certain movements and aspects of my day was questionable at best. I felt that I was living a 'good enough' life and initially just wanted to learn to further optimize the movements I already knew and were comfortable with. In working with Alyssa, I began to foster a newfound desire to experiment - with movements like squats and strict overhead pressing - in the hopes that I could eventually do both without residual pain or discomfort. Over time, Alyssa calmly shared with me her knowledge and tools that made it possible for me to squat and press again! I am forever grateful for the opportunity to reawaken parts of my mind and be able to perform movements that I had not previously done for months or years before. read more

Alyssa is one of few coaches out there that takes a deeper, holistic approach. It's not about staying within boundaries or setting rules or sticking to a single treatment, but she takes into consideration all aspects or your life and how they interact - influencing your mind, body, and spirit - to come up with a path forward for you. She's a devoted partner for you in that journey - and with a warm heart along the way. She has helped me to recognize additional sources of my physical and emotional struggles in my life and shown me new ways of pulling out the roots of them that I didn't even consider before or know existed. Alyssa's given me a new awareness of my body and my needs as well as a toolset to move through whatever comes up for me as I continue my journey, and I know I'll always have her there to turn to for support. read more

I've been working with Alyssa for just over a year now. The results have been profound in that I feel closer to moving through issues that I've been working on for most of my life. Reframing safety and trauma or stress within the context of neuroscience has been enlightening and joyful as opposed to stressful and restrictive. It was my lifelong struggle with weight issues and anxiety that first brought me to this work. I've learned a great deal thus far and am grateful to be experiencing new ways of healing! Alyssa's unique, compassionate approach to coaching incorporates her deep knowledge, intuition and insights along with simple neuroscience based exercises. I now have a comprehensive "toolkit" tailored to my life. At a moment's notice, I'm able to pick and choose from a variety of healing methods - some taking as little as 30 seconds to a few minutes - to relieve the effects of pain, tension and stress. I highly recommend working with Alyssa either 1:1 and/or by participating in one of her special programs. Both have been valuable for me. read more

I was referred to Alyssa for unexplained vestibular/vision issues. Working with her was a lifesaver for me, getting me through a very stressful time. After just a few months of weekly sessions, I graduated with a full toolbox to pull from as I continue my healing journey. She really listens to you, truly cares about whole body wellness, and is one of the most supportive people I have ever met! I am so happy that I reached out to her because I would not be where I am today without her guidance! read more

TLDR: Alyssa is an AMAZING coach that has made a huge impact on my health journey. Start working with her and see for yourself :) A friend of mine found Alyssa through a yelp search and after reading up on what kind of coach she was, I was very interested. I was looking to gain weight and build strength. Alyssa ended up offering far more than I could have expected! Not only is she extremely knowledgeable but she truly goes above and beyond as a coach. As many have mentioned, she takes a holistic approach, understanding health doesn't just mean physical health but also taking into consideration mental and emotional health. They are all connected. With her guidance and encouragement, I've been learning more about myself in so many different aspects (nutrition, movement, and stress). Alyssa works with you to find the right solutions for *you* because there is no "one size fits all". Even seemingly small adjustments that I've made in my day-to-day have made a huge difference in my life! In addition to my initial health goals, I ended up finding out things about myself that I didn't even realize. One thing I am so thankful for is how she has been walking with me through my Endometriosis journey which is a chronic health condition that has caused me pain/discomfort. I had been diagnosed a few months prior to working with Alyssa. I had thought this was something that I had to manage on my own since I wasn't getting helpful advice from doctors or a nutritionist I had seen. Little did I know that Alyssa would support me in this part of my health journey as well. One of the best things about working with Alyssa is that she listens to you and genuinely cares. She cheers you on to be the best version of yourself. I now have a better understanding on what works for my body, how to ask the right questions, and learning self-care. It's not about finding a "quick fix" but she teaches and empowers you to be your own coach. That is going to carry you through for the long term...and that is invaluable! read more

Alyssa is a special human being. She cares deeply about others, and it shows in how she treats and cares for her clients. She is such a good listener! Which is a skill that is often overlooked when we think about coaching and training, but it makes the world of difference when it comes to learning how to sort through our own mess to figure out what is going to work for us. She serves as not only a coach and trainer, but someone that can empathize, relate and help guide you to your goals. It almost feel like you have known her forever, even when meeting her for the first time. Which speaks to her character as someone that respects who you are, and the struggles that you may deal with. Needless to say, that when you work with her you will learn a lot about yourself, as well as what "health and fitness" ACTUALLY mean to you. I could not give Alyssa any higher praise! She is an excellent trainer, and even a better coach. You will not be disappointed if you decide to work with her. read more
