Ok here's the thing. I started going here right after Thanksgiving and managed to stay motivated…read morethrough the new year - due in large part to my awesome coach Mel and the lovely ladies of the 530 AM class! That's right - 530 AM! Believe it or not, it is NOT the earliest class - that honor goes to the 445 AM boot camp - but it's a great way to start off your day. Egan's is all about contributing to your success. There are supplements, protein snacks and drinks, and a bit of gear for sale. Parking is right on the premises at $1/hour. And there is ALWAYS parking! Everyone who works the desk greets you every time you walk in, and my coach requires a once-weekly weigh in. If you aren't trending toward your goal, she (or he) reaches out to you to talk about your variables and how you can change your trajectory. Several times a year there are also challenges to mix things up a bit. These guys are as invested as you are! Coaches are always available to you. And a weigh in isn't just a weigh in - it's a really cool overall body analysis that shows you how much water is in your system (and consequently, how much more you could have), how much of your weight is fat and how much is muscle. I know! Cool - AND it holds you accountable. The gym has an app that allows you to manage your payments and reserve a spot for classes. Membership is unlimited all access - you can go to any location at any time and take any class, multiple times a day. Yeah, people go multiple times a day! Classes are fun, but they are HIIT classes, so you do to until exhaustion. But like all fun and challenging things, you can't wait to do it again. Classes also seem to switch the instructors up as well as the workouts, so don't be concerned that you'll get bored because you won't! Even more awesome, during this COVID-19 time the gym has closed but instructors are offering any number of online classes via FB Live and Zoom so you can keep on keeping on! And they are just committed and motivating online as they were in person. I always thought I could just work out on my own and be fine. I liked doing that too. But classes appear to be something I really respond to. I like the accountability and the energy of having others participating with you. I honest to God thought I was going to pass out at my first workout. I quickly realized I was horribly dehydrated and underestimated the effects of a pre-workout protein bar and it never happened again. Egan's help you develop a real body awareness and focus, and helps you renew your commitment to your own success. If you're wondering whether you can make it through a workout, well, you're just going to have to try it. And I highly recommend that you do. You may just surprise yourself!

I love this class as the teachers motivate you in a positive way and it's great because they have accountability to keep you motivated in attending class and being interactive with your health goals. I started to feel a big difference within the first two weeks of attending and the classes run Monday, Wednesday & Friday. I had more energy. I could feel more muscle mass and even though the class is only half an hour you get an intense work workout not only cardio but muscle building. Before I started, I was in the worst shape of my life, always getting sick and feeling fatigue most of the time . After being there for about a month, I can say I have a new outlook on life and truly appreciate what they have done for me.

BEWARE all current and future MILITARY members.!!!…read more If you or your family members are in the military, or plan to join, do not trust the management at this UFC Gym location. A few months ago, an employee named Juan signed my son up for a membership over the phone. I never signed a written contract, and the cancellation policy was never explained to me. My son is leaving for military basic training on June 1st. We tried to do the right thing and cancel the membership well in advance (starting on May 7th). Despite explaining that he is leaving for the military (with orders), the front desk refused to help and said the cancellation would be "pending" until June 16th, meaning they intend to force me to pay for a full month of June while my son is away at basic training. I have reached out to the manager, Tiffany Ahnee, multiple times via email to get this resolved professionally. She has completely ignored every single email. I have attached screenshots to this review showing my original text conversations with Juan (who no longer works there) proving how the account was set up, as well as my multiple unanswered emails to Tiffany. It is shameful that a gym with the UFC brand name would treat future service members this way and trap them in billing cycles for verbal, over-the-phone agreements. Do not sign up here unless you are prepared to be ignored by management when you need to cancel.

I signed up for Tony's semi-private sessions which seem like private sessions (his sessions are at Kaka'ako Fitness which is shared with other trainers and patrons of the fitness center). For my first session, Tony definitely took it easy on me. He took me through the stretching routine that I did at the beginning of each session. The link to routine is sent to your email with a helpful youtube clip of the stretches. Also during this first session, Tony inquired about my goals and what I wanted to work on during my training session. During my sessions that followed, Tony helped me become stronger physically and mentally throughout the short time he trained me. Tony guided me through exercises that were familiar as well as new ones. I requested that he incorporated kettle bell exercises and he followed through with that request. I enjoyed my sessions with Tony and I would definitely come back when I am back in town. You could try talking yourself out of a rep, but Tony is great at what he does and is able to coach you through your limiting beliefs and assist you through your transformation process. I was at home on a Sunday afternoon, lying on the couch, procrastinating while watching TV, deciding whether or not to go to hit the gym that day. All of a sudden, this totally ripped, super cool looking Japanese guy appeared on this Spy Series television show, and I got immediately inspired and decided at that exact moment that I needed to stop procrastinating and get off the couch and go work out. I left the house and walked to the gym. I took the escalator up and as I got off at the top, I literally bumped into this totally ripped, super cool looking Japanese guy and realized that it was the same guy I had just seen on TV ! We have been friends ever since, and Bill has been my exclusive trainer since then. What I love about being trained by Bill is that he knows the importance of incorporating NEW things into your workout realm every few months. It has set the bar high for me every year of the thirteen that I have been blessed to call Bill my friend and Trainer. Bill was the first person I recall to ever say the words"kettle-bell" in Hawaii ! I am so grateful to him for always re-callibrating my whole program and way of thinking every few months since I started training under him. It keeps things from getting stale and routine and well... boring ! The body and brain really only respond and change when we give them new and challenging things to do, and in my opinion, no one teaches those principles while incorporating that theory through fresh and challenging training sessions better than Bil Maeda. Here we are all these years later, and Bill i s still inspiring me, as he did that day on TV, to get off that couch and get a great workout in every day !

My first question to him was, "How can you have worked out the with same trainer for 3 years and not be bored?" My personal history is riddled with workout regimens that have come and gone because, in the end, they just get boring. Bill has kept things fresh for two years, with the goal of making me "unbreakable" -- strong and injury-free. We started with foundational exercises (push-ups, pull-ups, planks, step-ups, lunges, twisting core exercises, etc.) to make sure that I had a solid base of strength before moving on to more dynamic movements and heavier weights. At every step of the way, Bill focused on teaching strict form for every exercise. I share his belief that maintaining good form, with light or heavy weights, ensures that one gets the most out of every exercise and avoids injury. In the last two years, Bill has mixed in kettlebells (thruster, long cycle, snatch), traditional power lifting (squat, bench, deadlift), punching & kicking, sandbags, weighted swinging clubs, body weight movements, and a variety of isometric exercises. I participate in a variety of other sports and events (soccer, triathlons, obstacle races, endurance events), and Bill designs my workouts to help me prepare specifically for them.
