In my case, the syndrome manifests itself as a very tight right leg and foot, tingling and varying levels of numbness in my right foot, and stiffness and weakness in my right leg and core. This causes me significant difficulty in walking, necessitating the use of mobility assistive devices such as a walker, cane, knee cart, and shower bench. This has negatively impacted my quality of life, limiting my activities including travel, concerts, and more. Frustrated by western medicine, I received blessings through a family friend who referred me to Dr. Sato at Needles of Hope, I traveled...with difficulty...to Honolulu and underwent nine treatments over three weeks. I was able to walk without devices after just the second treatment! Traveling home was far easier than traveling to Honolulu. While not completely healed - this is due to something that triggers variances to my condition - the quality of my life has greatly improved and I am profoundly grateful for Dr. Sato's intuitive, incisive, and holistic care. She is truly a gifted healer! If you find yourself in a similar situation to mine, reach out to Dr. Sato to learn whether she thinks she can be of help. I've been seeing Jayne off and on for nearly 7 years now. She has treated me for everything from…read morestress to skin problems to gynecological issues. Recently she changed my life in a big and I knew I had to update my review. I've been suffering from low back muscle pain for three years. I have tried everying: I saw a sports medicine doc and tried physical therapy, massage, chiropractic and rolfing--all without results. Jayne initially treated me with acupuncture but then switched to herbs. Almost immediately, my pain went from a constant 7 to a 2. I am a new woman! The best thing was that I was able to go back to pilates and yoga, which had been aggravating my back. I can anow comfortably do things such as walking long distances and standing/sitting for longer periods. The best thing about Jayne is that she will quiz you about your current state and treat more than what you thought you were seeing her for. Some doctors will insist that you keep your complaints to just three issues per visit. Jayne wants to know everything that is bothering you. She'll ask about things that I had forgotten were a problem, such as headaches or bowel movements. Jayne sees patients at both her private office on King St. and also at Queen's. She charges slightly lower fees ($10 less?) at Queen's but that's because she doesn't offer the full complement of services there. It's just needles at Queens. If you want herbs or laser treatment and a much more relaxing treatment room, schedule yourself for the King St. office. Go see Jayne. You will not regret it.

Jayne is, without doubt, the best acupuncturist in the state of Hawaii…read more I kind of split acupuncturists into three types. There's recent immigrants operating out of a little hole in the wall in Chinatown. They may know their stuff, but the ambiance isn't exactly relaxing and you don't exactly know what goes into their herbs. There's the hippy types who live in an alternative universe (I had one take my symptoms while seated barefoot and cross-legged in front of me) who believe that oriental medicine can be an alternative to western medicine. And then there are the sophisticated types who see acupuncture as a complement to western medicine - it can't cure cancer, say, but it can cure the miserable side-effects of western cancer treatments like chemo. Jayne falls into this category. She works in a doctor's coat in a highly professional environment. She's worked in hospitals in New York, she's certified by Memorial Sloan Kettering. She's one of the only acupuncturists working in a hospital in Hawaii - she treats cancer patients at Queens' Cancer Center and women at the Women's Center. She's been on TV a bunch of times and Governor Abercrombie appointed her to the State Acupuncture Board. None of that would matter -except to put your mind at ease that she's the real deal- but for the fact that she's brilliant at what she does. In 2010 I pulled a muscle in my leg and was hobbling in pain just hours before a big race - I thought I'd have to scratch. After one treatment from Jayne I felt fine and finished the race in my best time ever. She's treated many muscular-skeletal issues with great results She has treated me several times when I felt the flu coming on and she stopped it in its tracks. And she has given me face-lift acupuncture and afterwards I looked as if I'd caught up on months of missing sleep and lost a couple of years of aging. Her office is clean, elegant and restful. But the best thing: I feel no pain when she needles me. She's so good at doing it that I usually fall asleep even while she's still putting the needles in.
