Dr. Chen has been the MVP during these past months of quarantine, and probably the single most impactful business on my daily life. I had been without a PCP for a few years after leaving my pediatrician, and was feeling the pressure to start getting regular check-ups like a responsible adult. I decided on Dr. Chen in part because of the great reviews here on Yelp. Dr. Chen is professional, knowledgeable, and kind. She explains everything clearly and concisely. She got me set up with some lab tests and helped me out with everything I should be doing to keep my health on track. I usually make appointments in advance, but she was also able to accommodate me the day of when I was feeling sick. I love that everything can be done online/through text, from making appointments to viewing lab results. Virtual appointments are super simple and can be done through a cell phone. I've actually never met Dr. Chen in person yet (!) but I feel really comfortable talking to her. I would definitely recommend her for anyone looking for a doctor! read more

Not the right PCP for me. She's friendly but not very knowledgeable when it came to my medical history. I've had acne treatments for a very long time and was on a good treatment plan until I moved back to HI and was a patient of hers. She didn't want to follow the tx plan that worked for me and put me on BC. Which I've tried several times in my younger years. It actually broke me out and gave me tons of brown spots and somehow severe melasma. Now I'm paying hundreds to take care of my melasma and get rid of these brown spots. If anything it's made my life miserable. Trying to cover these spots up has been hard and costly. read more

Since possible patients have nothing better to do than fill out their forms, with their knowing full well that there is no purpose to them, it must be great to not have to take into account others' time and health concerns. I got no problem with a doctor taking time off especially for maternity, but at the very least, could the office staff show some consideration to those of us scrambling to find a PCP? 1. They know full well that she is not accepting patients. 2. They still make me go through loops to literally apply for an appointment; then, I pause and sit awaiting a reply to my "application." While NOT searching for others for an URGENT health matter. 3. They still list on HMSA that they are taking new patients. RE: the response below: so exactly what you have just said is this: we have a live website to have you as a potential patient enter details about scheduling a possible appointment and that on the same website you have a note that no appojntments are being scheduled? She still accepts new patient during this COVID-19! With the COVID-19, I had a difficult time to find a doctor who would accept new patient. But I feel lucky that this difficulty brought me to Dr. Chen! My first appointment was through a video-call with her. It simply required a smartphone with front camera. She saw the growth on my belly and suggested to meet her in her clinic the next week (FYI, May 2020). I met her in person in her clinic, which has parking lots right outside of the clinic. The whole scheduling, videocall and clinic experience were very pleasant and comfortable with Dr. Chen's hospitality and professionalism. She has excellent communication skills to make me understand my situation even though I am not native in English. read more

Dr. Mandich was very kind, caring and well intentioned. It is also very easy to communicate and schedule appointments. However, Dr. Mandich is not the most experienced. She sent me to the ER for blood work based on a EKG scan and freaked me out for what would turn out to be an unnecessary visit. Once I got to the ER, they said the visit was unnecessary and that based on the EKG and my risk factors this was not an emergency but that I should have just followed up with the cardiologist. Once at the cardiologist, he told me that the visit to the ER was unnecessary based on what Dr. Mandich saw on the EKG and my risk factors. This is an example of Dr. Mandich being overly cautious to a fault, as the experience of going to the ER was emotionally damaging. Moreover, Dr. Mandich misstated medical knowledge. She told me my father being diagnosed with heart failure at 60 constituted a cardiac risk factor for myself. But the cardiologist told me that it is only a risk factor for me if my father was diagnosed with premature heart failure, which would have to be before 55 years of age. Dr. Mandich also had me buy a blood pressure pump to test for high blood pressure (thankfully it was low when tested at home) and never followed up or asked about the results of my blood pressure checks. As an attorney who previously practiced medical malpractice law, Dr. Mandich was definitely not negligent in a legal sense, but she is overly cautious to a fault and a bit inexperienced. read more

Few tasks are more challenging when moving to a new state than finding a good medical doctor. Thankfully, when I moved to Oahu last year, I found Dr. Mindy Chen! Dr. Chen embodies all of the qualities I look for in a qualified medical professional. She is highly intelligent and empathetic, current on the latest medical offerings and trends, actively engaged in my health and well being, and punctual! I remember finding Dr. Chen through Yelp when I had needed to see a doctor for my ears. At the time, I had just become of age when I needed to switch out from my pediatrician. Mindy Chen has been a great PCP to me. Unlike every other doctor I have seen she spoke up and and told me she was concerned about my weight. She then asked what she could do to help me get down to a healthy weight without ever making me feel uncomfortable. I just had my first consultation with Dr. Chen and all i can say is "WOW"! Normally I don't care for doctors or hospitals. Nothing ever positive comes after my visits and I always feel worst than I did before. Dr. Chen was very upfront and honest with certain personal issues/concerns I had and was very genuine with her comments and recommendations. A lot of times, I feel doctors will recite the same things from a universal "Doctors manual". Dr. Chen listened to my concerns and gave me advice specific to my needs...not generic answers.
