Terrible company, first appointment Mark never showed up and didn't even call. Found out when i called MKB that he was sick, i asked him to call me when he was feeling better, still never called back. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and called MKB again, finally set up an appointment. Mark came out he was little rude but did measure and never bothered to call or email me back with the estimate to remodel my kitchen. I do like to give small business my business; however, this company will never work for me or any of my friends and family. I wish I could give them no stars. read more

The final bill for their kitchen remodel was based on their original estimate despite the fact that the design changed before work began per my requests. These were not small changes and ones they agreed to. Make sure your quote includes estimated costs for all of the major remodel changes, don't accept a total amount. Without specific costs it becomes a matter of negotiation when you get the final bill. Something you want to avoid. This company subcontracts a lot of the work, so your schedule depends on when the subcontractors are available. Half of my cabinets were damaged in shipment because they came in boxes with only cardboard corners--no styrofoam. Expect at least a month delay in getting factory replacements and keep your fingers crossed. I have been waiting weeks to have the granite countertop repair fixed (!) with no response as to when or if it will be done. read more

we purchased kitchen cabinets from Grace at MKB kitchens. i was very adamant about getting wood cabinets. The contract was written and stated we would receive wood cabinets. The product was delivered and installed and a week later realized they were made of presswood. I was also charged for "extras" that were originally on the drawings and the contract. I held the final payment from them because we did not receive what we ordered. This has gone to court and is currently in litigation . steer clear of this cabinet shop. It will only cause headaches, and they will make it ALL your fault! read more

We just finished renovating our kitchen (cabinets, sink, granite countertops, etc) and we could not be happier. I love looking at the kitchen each morning. Quality of the cabinets and counters is great. Everything thing that was done exceeded our expectations. Working with Rosie was wonderful. She was always on top of things and kept us updated with any delays or changes, or just coming over or calling to see if everything was ok. Any small repairs that were needed were promptly taken care of. She really put the work into designing what we wanted, over the other vendors that were giving quotes. The installers were always prompt and worked very hard on completing the renovation perfectly. I would not hesitate to work with Rosie again when we need our bathroom done. I met MKB at the Arlington Fairgrounds Home Renovation Fair. I was particularly excited for our estimate because the MKB reps said they could do a full bathroom gut in 4 days - all of my other estimates were 2-5 weeks. We set up an estimate appointment for March 23 at 10am. It is now 11:10 on March 23. NO ONE has showed up and they didn't even have the decency to call or email asking to reschedule. It appears that this company has serious problems and I would highly caution against even reaching out to them. What a waste of time!!! read more

I couldn't be an happier with the kitchen cabinet project that MKB did for me. Mark was professional and laid out options for me to choose from, upfront with costs for me, no hidden fees. When they came to install the cabinets that Rosendo Sr and Jr team was extremely friendly, thorough and clean. Everything was perfect. We are so thankful we found Rosie at MKB Kitchens, Baths, and Basements in Algonquin, IL. She is extremely helpful with design features and manages all the details from start to finish. Last year we did our kitchen and were so happy with the results that we did the downstairs bathroom this year and are again, very pleased with the outcome. She has a team of suppliers and workers that are professional, dedicated, and very qualified for the jobs at hand, Rosies handles every detail from design to scheduling the tasks whether it is tear out, electrical, plumbing, tile, painting, and flooring. We would strongly recommend anyone to contact Rosie if you are planning updates, remodeling, or completely new rebuilds. Rosie was a joy to work with and thank you very much for a job well done. Subcontractors beware of working for these people , trust me when I say this!! You won't get paid

We found Mark at MKB at the Arlington Spring Show and then set an appt to meet at their store a few weeks later. I handed him a detailed design of a proposed kitchen layout from a competitor and I received a three-line quote showing kitchen cabinet cost, counters cost and labor; no details on whether he had it right or not. When I asked for a detailed quote we were told it would be $500 for the detailed layout and of course if we sign they apply the money towards the job. No response from Mark or MKB on that request for details without a commitment. I suggest you spend your time with a company who feels they can earn your business the right way. read more

I walked into MKB and met Rosie; it went great from there. I had recently remodeled my master bathroom with another company (which I was very disappointed with both the designer and workmanship). Rosie completed a drawing for me while I waited with the correct cabinet that I originally thought that I was getting from the other company. Rosie ordered the cabinet that I wanted and I had it installed last week. Thanks to Rosie for a great personality and experience I am so pleased with me master bath. Also, the other company sent the cabinets to me without pre-drilled holes for the hardware. This is an optional request and Rosie made sure the new cabinet would have the pre-drilled holes. She also requested the hardware that I wanted----the other company never even asked me what hardware I wanted...they just sent me anything. Once again, thanks to Rosie. I walked in to MKB one afternoon looking for quartz or granite countertops and met Ron. He briefly advised me that they have granite $39 sq foot on certain colors. However, I wanted to go with quartz but I wanted price both out. He then told me that with quartz you have to buy a slab not square footage (each slab is about 42 sq feet); and some quartz does not sell 1/2 slab so it all depends on square footage. They then advised me to bring in a drawing of our kitchen with the measurements so they could figure out the square footage-which I was able to do too. I dropped off the drawing and asked when I could go to the warehouse to view the slabs of granite and quartz and they replied by saying that a deposit is required before going to the warehouse. I dropped off a deposit for $2500 so I able to go view the stones at Elk Grove. A week an half goes by and no call from MKB but our deposit check was cashed??? No work has been performed or material ordered. I dropped off samples of stones that I wanted priced and he then told me that he would have an estimate at the end of the week. After meeting with Ron and going over the quote it was far beyond typical and it was at best a budget not an estimate. MKB seemed unaware of the options of what they rep for. After questioning the quote, MKB realized that they doubled the square footage and they could not confidently inform me about the installation process. They tell you one thing and then change the story multiple times. The quote was then reduced by roughly 20%. Our confidence was gone at that point. I was disturbed by the service from this company that I called the quartz place and asked them about their slabs and they were able to provide me with more info then MKB. Ron could never answer the question how much per slab and/or how much per square foot. After much research I contacted a high end company in Chicago to provide me with a quote on the exact same quartz color and brand and within hours their quote was $4,500 less than MKB- and the new company I went with has more variety(colors & brands) and are so help and promptly respond. The most positive of the experience with MKB was that I was able to retrieve the deposit after several days (although not sure why it was cashed without services provided or material purchased). Stay far away from this company. read more
