This company refused to complete our three 3d renderings because we were so disappointed, shocked,…read moreand had safety concerns about the first rendering. Kristen, the wife of the owner, became belligerent, threatening us with a lawsuit if we reviewed them. They have only done one rendering, refusing to comply with a signed contract to complete the next two that are in the contract. They also refuse to reimburse any of the $699 we paid, even though they refuse to complete what was agreed upon in the signed contract. The BBB took this complaint, but as this company has done with the other complaints, they refuse to respond. I would stay clear of this company. The first rendering did not have proper posts that would even support the deck we wanted built. It looked like a kid did the rendering and they said it was because it was the first one. Well, I expected the first one to knock us off our feet since it was $699 and that it would only need a few tweaks. Instead it raised red flags. They should have been embarrassed to send it to us. Also, need to mention that Kristen inflates the price unjustifiably. Also wanted to note that it is not illegal to write a review of a company.

I have to question the positive reviews of Decked Out Builders LLC and here is why:…read more First, reviews are very short with at most a few sentences, there is no detail. Second, reviews are brimming over with superlatives like "very responsive", "amazing company", "could not be happier", "transforming our old deck into a masterpiece!", "They pride themselves in QUALITY work and it shows!" (notice the exclamation points for grandiosity). The "reviews" are a bit too positive to reflect the real world. NOTE that "could not be happier" vernacular was used in 2 reviews - Brian W. Oct 5, 2022 (San Francisco ? ? ?), and Jennifer B May 22, 2022 - which is pretty suspicious, perhaps written by Kristen Miller Bull Valley IL. Third, statements totally contradict my experience, like "Kristen and Tony were very responsive in answering all of our questions" where my experience was the exact opposite. "The entire process was smooth", while our reality was opposite because it was like pulling teeth with Kristen, "Incredibly helpful in making design choices", which is the real world means very high-priced add-ons that empty your wallet. Fourth, the "rah, rah" statements like "Don't hesitate and call Decked Out Builders for your next home project." which are over the top. and once again, use of the same vernacular by another "review" which said "Don't hesitate to call them!" Jennifer B who used the same vernacular as Mike R. NOTE: Through use of repetitive comments it appears that Brian W, Jennifer B, and Mike R are likely all the same person, or written by one. A scam has been presented to Yelp by one person impersonating others for the purpose of pumping up the reviews. Even if it occurred on 3 different accounts the writing was by one person. No company gets all positive reviews because that doesn't reflect society.

I also had a few drawer fronts that ended up being dinged, and Wolf swapped them out without question. I wholeheartedly would recommend using them to anyone, and next time we're in need of cabinets, I know who I'm calling.

The nightmare started with the demo. The crew threw glass and other debris out the bathroom window (on the 2nd floor) and made a huge mess. Pieces of old marble countertops were thrown out the window and hit our pergola leaving marks and gashes on the support poles. It took over 2 months to find and pick up all the shattered glass...it was everywhere! Not helpful having 2 dogs that walk in that area. The project manager was a horrible communicator. We were told that the crew would come out on specific days but no one would show up. This was inconvenient in that we would board our dogs when we were told the crew would be there. Additionally, when they did show up, it was only for an hour a day. No urgency on completing the project. Beware and do your homework before hiring this company.

Deborah Pernice was our designer; she was able to use her expertise and our vision to design a beautiful, family-friendly kitchen in our 2200 square foot house that has allowed us to host our large family. Deborah went to bat for us in designing and redesigning our floor plan to make us able to knock down a small support wall and add an island so that our kitchen is now completely open to an odd-shaped dining addition that was done by previous owners in an aesthetically-pleasing way. We love our kitchen and all the smart choices Deborah made, such as a stick-vacuum and electronics cabinet, lazy susan, and beautiful lighting options. I recommend Deborah if you are looking to design your kitchen or bathroom in the Northwest suburbs.

I cannot say enough good things about working with Tom Newman and Elise at TCN Cabinets & Designs!…read more Although I did the design, found the cabinets (J&K), found the flooring, selected the granite countertop, the new patio doors (with transoms), kitchen sink window, the backsplash, the sink/faucet, etc. I didn't have anyone to put it all together and make my vision a reality. I evaluated several contractors who were quite miffed that I had already done all that - Tom and Elise took it in stride in our first meeting - and it was an excellent collaboration from the start. They made recommendations that improved the usefulness of the kitchen and validated the quality of what I had procured. They lined up an AMAZING crew of amazing tradesman (carpenters (love you Chris!), electricians, plumbers, drywallers, painters, countertop fabricator, flooring installers. They managed the entire 5-week effort (which extended well beyond just remodeling the kitchen - but my entire home) with such grace and finesse. Of course there are always hiccups with these things, but Tom kept to his plan and kept me assured by seeing he always knew the latest and greatest - he even uncovered things before I did (which is pretty miraculous as I was living in my master bathroom onsite the whole time). About 4 months later I re-engaged them to support the upgrade of my vanity in my master bath (as I was living in my master bathroom during the previously-completed remodel). Tom himself, is highly experienced and has lots of connections to help you save, and his team are high quality (as people, and as tradesman) - I could not recommend them all enough! Thanks TCN!
