I was on my way to another place for lunch when I saw that MJ's Cafe was finally open! I've been waiting for them to open (what took so long?) and was excited to see the menu and interior. There's no seating, so everything is takeout. I got The Cure breakfast burrito with avocado, which came out to be roughly ~$21ish. That's the most I've paid for a breakfast burrito in SF! It's not the heftiest burrito, but I really liked the grilled tortilla, the hearty flavorful chorizo, and the spicy sauce. It's more avocado than other places give (but also, this is pricier than most.) Service was warm and efficient. They should get quite a bit of pedestrian traffic from the hospital across the street (as well as Trader Joe's a block away.) Will be back when I'm near Trader Joe's and I want a quick breakfast burrito, and to try some of their coffee drinks. It seemed pretty busy when I walked in--there was a small line, some people only got drinks and others got a breakfast burrito.

I've only been here one other time for the breakfast burrito and I will say it was really good. Slightly pricey so definitely not an everyday meal but worth it. The staff is really nice. Very tiny, togo orders only. I will say the breakfast burrito was really good however at the $20 price point that's insane. I returned to try the burger and I'll admit the burger was good but almost $30 for a burger and fries that you must take togo because there's no seating is not optimal. Overall I'd go again but it's definitely not first pick. The food is high quality and good but very expensive

I'm so happy that this spot finally opened! I stopped by to order an iced chai and it was so delicious. This is more of takeout place, so if you're looking for a cafe to work from this isn't it. The service was so quick and friendly-- between ordering and getting my drink was less than 3 minutes.

I'm gonna go ahead and grab first Yelp review on this one. It seems like it has taken this place a few years to open but glad to have another option in the neighborhood. I remember the former Nob Hill Cafe well. The food was great and you could dine in the downstairs room. I think that family decided to retire. I think this is the first business to appear since and it has been years. Anyway it's a nice little place. The staff are super friendly. Pretty limited options with about 4 variations of a breakfast burrito and smash burgers. They have Ritual coffee which is good. It's not pourover but it's good. I did try a breakfast burrito and thought it was pretty good. Maybe not life changing but pretty good. It's a great location and with St. Francis across the street I think they'll have decent foot trafic. I wish there were a few tables to sit in but it's a take out only operation and the room downstairs is sadly being used for storage. It would be nice to see some more options on the menu but maybe that will come in time.

We live near this place and have been watching them work on it for months--we were so happy to see they're finally open! We ordered an iced Americano and The Cure breakfast burrito. Both SO yummy. The burrito is the perfect size, nothing too big, and it tastes delicious. So excited to come back and try their Smash Burgers!

Just discovered this little café the breakfast burritos 10 out of 10 and the lavender drink was amazing

I'm excited to have this addition to the neighborhood! I had a delicious burger. It is a simple burger with great cheese and meat balance! It could have used one more layer of flavor, like a tomato or ketchup. No worries though, I live a half block away and was able to remedy that! Food was ready super fast and fresh.

Fantastic new addition to this neighborhood! I often come to this area for a client and always find myself wondering for something to eat and some good coffee...there's absolutely no good food around here I don't know why! There are some places around but the coffee is terrible and is lacking quality. So I went into this place with cero expectations. Boy! was I in for a flavor surprise! I ordered a burger, a breakfast burrito (with chicken sausage), a flat white, and a cappuccino. The place doesn't seem like much but the lady who took my order and made my coffee was very sweet and made delicious coffee. They serve Equator Coffee which is great! My food came out promptly and one of the cooks bagged it for me and smiled as he thanked me for my order. What a great little spot this is, everyone in there seemed so happy to be there. They had beautiful flowers and Day of the Dead decorations, some funky looking pumpkins, and great beats playing. It was a wonderful first experience and I'm so glad I decided to give it a try! I used to dread coming to this area for my client but now I'm actually looking forward to it so I can try something else on their menu.

    DoorDash menu

I ordered a burger with fries (standard) on DoorDash, but only received the burger. I returned to the cafe within 10 minutes, walking 5 blocks back. The staff claimed it doesn't come with fries, despite the DoorDash photo showing otherwise. They said they don't know what's on DoorDash. This is misleading for your business. You should know what's on the platform, and $13.99 for a basic burger is a bit much! The food is so so

Great to see it open after years! Staff were so friendly and seemed excited to be open too! Coffee was great and prices are very well aligned with other offerings in the neighborhood. Will be back

So we got an extra drink for free. Trying the iced latte, it was pretty disappointing lol. I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. I do like the natural lighting coming into the shop, but nothing too special.

My husband had their Banana Oat Milk latte and it was a good balance of flavor and sweetness (not too sweet). We also tried their popcorn chicken, kimchi fried rice, and galbi patty melt. Whether you are in the mood for a katsu sando, curry over rice, ochazuke with their matcha twist, or something sweet like the matcha cream pie, it is hard to go wrong here. All of the savory dishes I have tried have been great, but the fish katsu sando is one of my absolute favorites. The huge fish fillets are perfectly fried and flaky, tucked inside pillowy shokupan and topped with tangy yuzu shio koji sauce, tomato spread, and fresh crunchy cabbage. Every component works together beautifully, with richness, brightness, and texture all in balance. The pork katsu curry over rice is another standout. The katsu comes sliced into thick pieces that are still juicy inside, and it is fried expertly so the breading stays attached as you eat it. The curry has a really balanced flavor, even if I would not mind a little more spice, while the pickled radishes provide a nice contrast. I always add an onsen egg (for an additional $2) because breaking the runny yolk and mixing it into the curry adds another layer of velvety richness and creaminess. You can also tell they use high-quality matcha in their drinks, so the beverage menu is really more about choosing what fits your mood that day vs avoiding any bad options. Stonemill Matcha is a great option for a grabbing a drink on the go, a full blown sit down meal, a quick dessert stop or all of the above!

It had a very subtle matcha flavor, but I couldn't taste the grassiness. The sea green color was aesthetically pleasing when combined with the grassy matcha hue. My babka was plated on a dainty ceramic dish, which matched the old-school European cafe vibes. The babka was light and fluffy, yet the outside was crisp and buttery like a croissant. The salted chocolate layers folded into the pastry were the perfect balance of sweet and salty, and the chocolate tasted high-quality. One babka could have probably been split into two servings, especially if you want to try multiple items, but I didn't leave behind a single crumb. All around us, the other diners seemed to be enjoying a full-scale brunch with savory pastries and what appeared to be a Turkish breakfast platter. It all smelled wonderful, so I'll have to explore more of the menu on my next visit. I enjoyed the mahlab cake a day later and was amazed that it retained its delicate and light texture. The icing was lightly flavored with orange, cherry, and floral notes, and the presentation was so elegant. The cake was the perfect accompaniment to my afternoon cup of tea. While I'm on a mission to try as many of SF's bakeries as I can, I am looking forward to returning to Loquat.
