I've passed this spot a dozen times on my way to the gym or the Mexican place next door--never gave it a second glance. Curb appeal? Meh. But my husband swore the food was good, so I gave it a shot. Verdict: never judge a sushi joint by its parking lot. We skipped the hibachi (though it was clearly popular) and dove into the noodle and sushi menu. Ok i don't know why this place has 3 and a half stars because it should at least have 4 stars! This place is a great way to get the crown going with excitement and laughter! They are very organized in taking the orders and dividing the checks which is a plus! These chefs know how to really put in a show! We came to Mizu because a friend of ours had gone previously and couldn't stop singing its praises. He had had such a wonderful time, and he wanted all of us to experience it as well. He went as far as making a reservation for us and requesting Francisco, the chef, to cook for us that night. I have to say that Francisco was phenomenal not just because he's cooking for so many of us but also because he kept us and the little kids that were with us entertained. I will say, you do get your money's worth in terms of volume with the food. A lot of food! I made 2 additional meals from my leftovers, but was it delicious? It was ok. I think that if it weren't for the garlic sauce they give you on the side, some of it might have been bland. They do have condiments on the side that you can add to your food though. The people in our party who ordered steak did say it was tender and delicious, so I guess it also matters what you get. The food and service was amazing. Until i was leaving. I didn't end up tipping which could've been my bad. Instead of the server pulling me aside and asking me kinda why I didn't tip, he yelled at me in front of the entire restaurant saying that i needed to tip. I think it was very unprofessional and disrespectful. I was with my entire family and just wanted to buy them lunch since they've never been there. When you go out for hibachi, the experience is 70% show. Fried rice, tender beef, fresh seafood... that is expected. Mizu delivers. The show has some entertaining twists and skillful techniques. I like to say that I do understand restaurants are going through some tough times with staffing, this makes it important to communicate with patrons. Reservations were for a party of 11 for 7:30pm. We were not seated until 8:11p. After we were seated we did not get a chef until 8:45p. The server was extremely nice and attentive to all requests and fulfilled them in a timely manner. The food was run of the mill, nothing exciting. The rice was bland, the vegetables over cooked. The noodles were just ok. The appetizer shrimp were not served until the end of the meal and not every one got some. The, only famous in Florida, "yum-yum sauce" was bland, tasted like bland mayo with a little vinegar. We received a gift card for this place and never even knew it existed. We live right around the corner and never noticed it before. We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the place and how busy it was. Having never been here or really knew about it, they look like they do quite the business. We were greeted and seated right away. Because we wanted to sit and watch them cook our meal we waited a bit for more patrons to join us. We ordered water and a California roll. I am not a huge sushi fan but my wife (who LOVES sushi) said it was really good. The ginger and wasabi was very good. Our Chef showed up and did his show. It was nothing special but it was fun. He engaged the table well. My filet and shrimp were cooked perfectly and the plate of food was extremely filling. My wife ordered the shrimp and scallops. She was very pleased with her choice. Pricing seemed to be decent. For the two of us with the meals we ordered with the California roll with waters...with tip it was $60. I definitely want to give this spot the credit it's due: I loved their vegetable tempura! It was flavorful, hot, crispy, and had a great variety of veggies. There were a couple I hadn't tried before (something white and potato-like, as well as tempura asparagus), while I also got to enjoy my favorite preparation of sweet potatoes! Unfortunately, we didn't realize the tables were all lined up around the hibachi stations, making it loud and stuffy for regular diners. The steamed gyoza was also underwhelming and cold in the center. We would've ordered more, but the prices were higher compared to other sushi spots in the area. We weren't willing to pay twice as much for a sushi roll compared to competitors, and the bento boxes had a similar dilemma. I can't speak for the udon and other noodle soups, so those might be worth a try! We loved the service though! Our waiter was kind and attentive, and the food we did order was prepared quickly. This is an amazing place to eat. We had the hibachi lobster, and it was delicious. They give so much food for such a great price. The only reason I don't give them a 5 is bc I wish they would stop serving that salad which only has lettuce. They do it in Poinciana as well. It's not a salad, it's lettuce in a container. We went here as this is one of my son's favorite places growing up and he is visiting from Korea. Just as we remember. We were seated at a grill by ourselves since there was 5 of us. The reason I keep going back to this place is not the food. The food is tasty but nothing to write home about. My daughter absolutely loves this place for the hibachi dinner. She asks every year to come here for her birthday. The chefs that do the cooking have so many tricks and are so entertaining! They really know how to put on a show and get everyone involved. It's a mom and pop restaurant, and everyone that worked there was happy and friendly. The only rude person there was a guest that had an air of superiority. I loved Mizu. I just moved to Saint Cloud a few months ago. My best friend and I found this place online and were so impressed. We love it. I'm now on my sixth order personally. I gave them 4 stars because today I ordered my normal order of sushi and tried a new roll. I ONLY eat COOKED sushi and some of the fish that was supposed to be cooked was still raw. It was not just one roll it was two rolls I had bitten. That was disappointing. I'll still be back though. Covid wise : They are great. Initially they closed indoor dining. I see a lot of mixed reviews on this restaurant; ranging from horrible to fantastic. I normally do not read reviews prior to writing one but I felt, at least in this case, I already knew there would be a mix and I was not incorrect. This is not the kind of restaurant that you simply visit and get swept off of your feet. It's a restaurant that you need to get to know your host and staff and develop relationships to truly enjoy it. Yes, it's different and perhaps non-traditional but so is this town. And we have definitely made great relationships here. So on with my summation! I'm not a huge fan of dining with strangers at my table so the big griddle hibachi is not often visited by me. Sushi, however, I love. And Chef Benny, if he's on that day, is the best you'll find. Again, the better the relationship you have here, you know the rest. Having said that, though, you'll always get a great quality sushi from Benny. The picture I've attached is the result of me telling Benny and our server (who we always insist upon) Candy to just surprise me. "I trust you and you kinda know what I like; just surprise me, I'm hungry and feeling adventurous. Be creative." He did not disappoint and I think he actually enjoyed the opportunity. I know I did! I'd give Benny and Candy 10 starts out of 5 if I could. The restaurant itself could be better maintained and is not the best environment of cleanliness but it is average for this town. We really don't have anything really top-notch here, unfortunately. I believe it is coming, though. But in this town this restaurant is unique and, therefore, very popular. We make weekly visits. It's Friday night which means take out day for our family. We are trying new places around the area to start creating our " fav list". We called in ahead for take out and I'm glad we did. When I got there, there was a huge line and a lot of people waiting to be seated while the place was jammed packed with families. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my order but I can't blame them because they were VERY BUSY. Once I got home we dove in into our food and we were quiet surprise at how much food we got.
