Absolute must visit when in Guadalupe Valley. The views are stunning and tranquil, the addition of the dj adds to the vibe and the food was mouthwatering. We made reservations for brunch and Mixtura was a fitting end to an overall incredible experience for our first time in the Valley. Initially, the service was a little scattered as I think our waitress was a little overwhelmed with a large group of 13 women. However, she was joined by a second server and we were on a roll. Tots to the mixologist, the drinks were beautifully displayed and my French 75 adorned with a lavender sprig was deserving of its own photo shoot. Oh my heavenly the food was to die for! We literally ordered a smorgasbord of food to include the browned butter waffles that we all salivated over! The raw and grilled oysters, tuna crudo, Neapolitan pizza and hummus are just a few items we ordered. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and cannot wait to come back. read more

This place is a must on the "valle de Guadalupe" scene. First let's start w/ service. Javi is the best. Knowledgeable, attentive and overall a great server. Food was great and mixologists know their stuff. Paloma negra is a must try along w/ charred shredded beef and oysters. After our meal Javi proceeded w/ starting a non fire and making us feel very welcomed. Javi is a prime example of a great server. Must visit. Views on views on views. Had a great birthday lunch here while my boyfriend and I were visiting the wineries in the area. Made a reservation on open table the day before which made things easy. The land is beautiful. When you pull in first there's the winery and then you drive past some of the vineyard and over to the restaurant. Completely open with beautiful views but enough shade to make a 3:30 lunch in July completely comfortable. We definitely went overboard while ordering, but no regrets because everything was delic. Seared scallops were great and there were more than enough for two people. Tomato & cheese dish was good, sorta like tomato mozzerella but a little less cheese plus a light sauce. Brussels were the star of the show. Almost too much for two people but oh well. So good and crispy!!! We ordered the flat bread which was great but looking back could have done without since something else we ordered seemed to come with bread which we never even touched. I also started with an aperol spritz and then switched to the Mezcal drink which both were really good!! Aperol a bit lighter and nice for lunch and then pretty sure that mezcal drink got me a little tipsy! Great lunch, friendly and efficient service. All for $80! Can't beat that. read more

The Order - Mezcalita, Hummus & Naan, Roasted Broccoli & Tahini, Tostadas de Jurel and Shrimp Mac and Cheese. The Cost - ~$24 per person The Great - The Tostadas de Jurel (Yellowtail) was the best dish of the night. Incredible yellowtail in an avocado emulsion with sweet pieces of ginger and leek on tostadas combined to make a flavorful and fresh dish representative of high end, modern, Baja California cuisine. The Shrimp Mac & Cheese was also a great dish. Large macaroni with Gouda cheese, chipotle and grilled shrimp, the dish hit all the right spots. The Good - The Mezcalita, their version of the typical margarita-made-with-mezcal cocktail, was done with licor de ancho reyes (chile liquor), orange and passion fruit juice. The cocktail had a strong orange taste but I didn't really feel the passionfruit and was disappointing that it wasn't spicy. The Hummus & Naan was not a typical Valle de Guadalupe menu find but the grilled naan was tasty. The hummus was just okay though and needed more tahini. The Okay - Where the hummus might have been lacking in tahini, the Roasted Broccoli & Tahini was not. Cooked with olive oil and lemon juice, the combination of flavors should have worked but the finished product was not anything to write home about. The dish would be better suited as a side rather than a stand alone appetizer. The Verdict - Mixturas is a good addition to the Valle scene. It won't blow you away like some of the other Valle restaurants but the price point is good and the setting is beautiful. Worth a visit. I am torn between 3 and 4 stars, but customer service, the view, and music is bumping it up to 4 stars. We originally went here to go to visit Relieve wine tasting room. When we got to Relieve there was no one there (it turns out they were "closed for the season" though no signage existed to tell us of this). However, just next door is Mixtura so we popped in there to taste some Relieve wines and have some of their food. My wife got a ham and cheese sandwich and really enjoyed it. I got a "quesadilla" with barbacoa, and for me it was unlike any quesadilla I had ever had. I would have called it a "street taco with cheese", because there was plenty of meat, but hardly any cheese (which I normally take to be the centerpiece of a quesadilla). It was good, but nothing great. It was very small for a quesadilla, but that was fine given how inexpensive it was. Their selection of Relieve wines by the glass was very small, and that was disappointing. I ordered one, but when it came the glass had very little wine in it. It turns out this small amount was all they had left, and thus they were giving it to me complimentary. The view was very nice, and they had very good music. And, as seemed to be the case with almost every place we visited in Valle De Guadalupe, we had very friendly servers. I'd definitely give this place a go again for lunch and wine. read more

If you've been to the winery Relieve you may or may not have noticed an outdoor eatery within sight across the large vineyard. Mixtura came up on a Yelp search for a brunch spot in the area and is located down a short road from Relieve. It's completely outdoors and most of the seating is located on their spacious covered deck. We visited on a sunny September afternoon and had a very pleasant brunch experience. We didn't have a reservation but were seated right away and were one of two other parties at the restaurant. The first thing I noticed was how varied the menu was. It didn't seem like they were going for any one cuisine and I appreciated the variety. My bf was in the mood for a Mexican breakfast and I wanted classic American. I ordered the bacon, egg and waffle dish and it was a very straight forward, no nonsense dish. There wasn't any flair to it or any special added flavors but it was good. My bf ordered the chilaquiles and added barbacoa and said it was some of the best chilaquiles he'd ever had. Neither of us had ever had barbacoa in our chilaquiles before but he said it was delicious. He devoured it before I could ask for a bite so I can't comment on it myself. Our cocktails were both very refreshing and spirit-forward. I would order both of them again - we got the Pink Flamingo and Mala Hierba. As there weren't may parties at the restaurant at the time, our servers were able to check on us often and our meals arrived quickly. We weren't sure how we could have missed this awesome brunch spot during previous visits to Relieve but we were told that Mixtura has been running for four years. They even have a DJ who was spinning some awesome tunes that were perfect for the sunny, breezy outdoor vibe. The only thing I just don't understand is how they were not more packed during a Sunday brunch hour. Perhaps people haven't realized that there's a hidden brunch gem in this area but hopefully reviews like mine help bring attention to this awesome place! read more

One word, amazing. Fresh, clean, flavor over all else. There something to be said when a restaurant "runs out" of an item. It's not a bad thing, it means they aren't selling you frozen items bought from Costco last month. Octopus was perfectly grilled, quail melted after a fire grilled crunch. Risotto was creamy and perfectly prepared. But the finish was a desert with a warm Chocolate cake and lavender ice cream with small lavender flowers dusted on top. Stay away from this place. Reservation was made far in advance and when we got there we were seated in the scorching Sun. Asked to have one of two umbrellas that were unused over the table and it never happened. In fact we were not waited on or brought water for over 20 minutes until we went back and asked for water and the umbrella, when they told us they couldn't move the umbrellas. Horrible service, left right away after rude employees did not even acknowledge our group. read more

Stay far, far away from this place. While the views and location are enchanting, the service and attitude presented by the owner are probably one of the worst we've experienced in a very long time. Having made a reservation for party of 10 over a week in advance, you'd expect any restaurant who is taking reservations to be adequately equipped to handle said requests. Boy were we wrong! While the restaurant has 8 or 9 tables, they only have one waiter to handle all of them. Kudos to the young lad to try to make the situation better, but this was well out of his reach. It took them 30 minutes to take our drink order, another 45 for our food order and over an hour for the waiter to come back every 20 minutes to tell us that they were "out" of what we had ordered. No risotto, no octopus? Bottom line was that after 2 and a half hours of waiting, time in which the manager/owner could have come over at least once to make us aware of the situation, we requested the check. Now that the manager is made aware of the situation, she basically gives us a harsh "thanks" and off we went to enjoy one of the best meals we've had at Traslomita. read more

I attended a rehearsal dinner at this place. To star with, the couple reserved the restaurant exclusively for their guest & white dress code was required. The owner couldn't declined two reservations that some ppl made. Disappointed from family members & guest when we saw those ppl wearing different color and occupying the tables around us. Also, no toilet paper in the women' restroom. If you want to reserved this place for a event just keep in mind that you will have unknown ppl in your event since the owner/ manager will not let you know! read more

Mixtura is an excellent addition to the incredible food choices in Valle de Guadalupe. A bit hard to find until more signage is posted, the restaurant is at Vinicola Relieve. The chef-owners are a Mexican-Peruvian pair who have established an elegant, simple open space with a shipping container serving as the kitchen. Almost every dish we sampled was near-perfect. The clam and ceviche dishes stood out, as did the grilled beet salad. Everything is about simple preparations that showcase the main ingredient. This place just opened recently, and Bibi, one of the owners, was incredibly gracious and solicitous of our feedback. I think we were the only customers that night, and we arrived late by Valle standards, but we never felt rushed and all of my companions felt that this was the culinary highlight of our weekend. Mixtura has the potential to rival our other favorites from other visits to the area, Finca Altozano, Corazon de Tierra, Deckman's and Malva, all of which we've visited several times. Wish I could give Mixtura 10 stars. I've been following them on social media for about a year after reading about them on some article pertaining to The Valle. Luckily on my first trip to Guadalupe, my group got hungry after wine tasting at Santo Tomas (also a great experience), and it turns out that Mixtura was right up the road. The outdoor open air dining next to the vineyard is quite a unique experience. It was neat to be able to see the chefs cooking (using what appeared to be a wood burning chiminea like grill). Our server was lovely, and the complimentary lavender water was very refreshing. Our server told us the menu changes regularly based on what's seasonal. I forget the name of the dish I ordered, but I tried some of everyone's plate, tuna, yellowtail, flat iron steak in a pasta with cream sauce. Every meal was a total flavor bomb. I think overall one of the top ten dining experiences that I've ever had. Hope to go back someday. read more
