Look, you're probably not a local and unless someone personally recommended this place, you'd walk right past it without giving it a second thought. I was told this was the place for restaurant by a local-of course I had to try it. This place is fire. Like the roof is on fire, kind of fire. I'm dating myself aren't I? Ha. Located on a corner, The Parian, is a locals restaurant. You walk into a fiesta of a restaurant. Brightly decorated with typical Mexican decoration-think bright pinks, yellows and greens. There's colorful paper cut outs (papel picado)strewn across the ceiling, windows everywhere and colorful walls. I've been here twice & both times it was busy but not overwhelming. Walked in both times without having to wait for a seat to open up. The menu is typical of what you would see in a Mexican restaurant--and no, avocado toast ain't on the menu. Menudo, chilaquiles, hot cakes, machaca con huevo. These heavy & oh so delicious meals are all here. The tortilla (flour and corn) are both made in house. The salsa and chips they set when you first arrive are authentic. This is the kind of food that'll make you want to take nap after, it's so heavy. Only downside is they don't have cafe de olla. But that's not a bad thing, there's an amazing coffee shop down the street from the restaurant (Xcaanda) :) Definitely a gem in Ensenada & one that I will continue to visit. read more

A local Mexican diner to come to - to blend in with the locals. We came to visit Ensenada with a girlfriend, her husband, her brother, and our mutual friend. Upon seating, we were greeted with a basket of chips with salsa. Restaurant was colorfully decorated. We came here for desayuno (breakfast). After perusing the menu desayuno, Mr. W and I ordered a dish from the Combinaciones de la Casa (The House Combination - think of it as a House Special). We picked the Combinacion Parian - which we were surprised to get a sample of - thanks to our friend P who asked for us. It consisted of meat, eggs, beans, fries, and chilaquiles. It was a bit of everything and we liked the combination. It was even better with guacamole, at least to me. It was kind of like you order a dish and then just combine it with whatever else you would like to tastes good to you! Among other dishes, we ordered a quesadilla maiz reyes, ensalada fruta, omelet with chorizo, tocino salsa, rojas, and ranch, along with guac and chips. The ensalada fruta (fruit salad) was beautiful but it took a while to come out. The omelet was huge! Packed with goodies within. The most memorable time besides our fun memories trying out new cuisine with our friends here was the bebidas licuados (drinks) and the guacamole. The guacamole with chips which was a side order was SO GOOD - it was so fresh! I wish we could teleport it to San Diego. The same with their fresh smoothie drinks. We had ordered the melon licuados - and it was so good! I downed half of it before even sharing it with Mr. W. Parking wasn't too bad. There was street parking available across the street. Bathrooms were decent. Service was alright, but we did have to ask our server for our bebidas (the licuados) as they had served a fresca licuados (strawberry drink) but it wasn't towards the end until we got our melon drink. So we came into town (from hotel Coral) to eat at our favorite Birria place. Oh wow..it was closing right when we got there =( the man locking up directed us to El Parian and gave us directions. We took a quick walk over to here and were seated immediately. The place is brightly colored and open. Colorful family friendly atmosphere. I've only come for dinner and I had no problem that the place has no AC. It's spacious. You sit on painted benches. Frida Kahlos and a fat mariachi greets you. It has a decent variety of food. Besides tacos and enchiladas, you can also get breakfast, steak, beef tongue, machaca, shrimp ranchero, menudo and pesole. The preparation has a home-cooked vibe vs. fancy. None of the entrees wowed me with unique flavors or anything, but ingredients were fresh and not overcooked. Try to leave room for the chocoflan or tres leches cake. It is away from the tourist area, but close enough to walk from some hotel/motels on the waterfront, though maybe a taxi would be better for most I personally avoid eating salad or drinking water in any place in Mexico, but this place is one of the cleaner places I've been that doesn't cater to tourists. read more

We asked a guy for recommendations since a lot of places were closed by 6/7pm? He suggested this place and we didn't even finish the food. Very little selections of food. No rice (for kids) and food had no flavor. Everything was fried too. We ended up getting some delicious seafood after at this little whole in the wall spot. Don't remember the name tho. read more

By far this restaurant has the fastest service. I've only had breakfast here and it's good old fashion home made cooking. Try the white menudo its wonderful. If you don't have a car take a taxi. Its a few blocks inland. read more
