    Kids cheeseburger cn papás.

Stopped by here on the way to La Bufadora. We were starving. They seated us quickly on a Saturday morning. There were 4 adults, 2 kids, & 2 babies/high chairs in my group. The jamaica & horchata tasted fresh & delicious. They came in nice cold glass ice cups. We were provided complimentary chips & salsa & bread w/ butter. The chips were a little hard & the salsa was watery & had no taste. The butter rolls were pretty good. I had two. The oysters on the half shell were not too good. Tasted a bit salty like salt water. Maybe they weren't washed good. The sauce for the oyster didn't stand out itself. I wouldn't order again. The bean soup that came w/ my meal tasted good. It was a hit w/ the babies. The bean soup had cut up weenies. I ordered the chicken breast mole which was very good. I liked how the chicken breast was cut. The mole was not too strong & overwhelming like most places I've tried. It was just right. The place itself has an old school ambiance. The seating/tables seemed antique. It had a smell when you walked in. I'm assuming from the old wood. The parking is right in front of the restaurant. Only a handful of cars can park. When we were leaving the place we couldn't get into the car so parking itself is pretty tight. We had to pull the car out & reposition to get inside. The service was amazing. They checked on us plenty of times & never had us wait on anything really. But also didn't feel like they were hovering over us.

If your in Ensenada, it's authentic as it gets, the service was perfect, place was packed and we had our food in 15 mins. And it was delicious. The pork skin soup was off the charts, did you see Mhacha, off the charts. I'll definitely be back here, our waiter Salvador was amazing.

This place is bigger than I expected. Came here for breakfast this memorial holiday weekend Saturday morning. Fairy busy, but the experience and service was still good. The waiter was attentive and gave great food suggestions when asked about recommendations. The food was good, big portions and our meals came with a starter soup or quesadilla. The sopa de chicharrón was great. Their pozole blanco was ok too. But def recommend the sopa de chicharrón.

Things here are cheap. We ordered 9 plates for 9 people as well as coffee and juice. You get a complimentary quesadilla, menudo, or chicharon soup with each plate. The price came out to about $6 per person with tax and tip. Good price and very filling! Best items: The chilaquiles are probably the best thing here -- i typically prefer salsa verde on them, but the salsa roja was much better here. I would say a lot of the other items we got were so-so , like the cactus omlette, machaca and eggs, catfish and eggs, etc.

There aren't too many breakfast spots in the area so finding this was absolutely a treat! Walked in on Valentines morning and expected a long wait but to our surprise, we were seated right away even though the entire place was packed. The decor is very old school, with old wooden chairs and tables. They had special Vday dishes but we just went with the regular menu items. Upon being seated, a server placed peppers, salsa, wedges of lime and danish style cookies on our table. Our waiters spoke pretty good english so we had no problems ordering. My beau wanted to try the chicken chilaquiles topped with a fried egg and the Omelet Tito which comes with carne asada and chorizo, with a side of refried beans, hash browns and a generous scoop of avocado. Since I couldn't decide what I wanted, we just ordered these two dishes to share. Every dish comes with a choice of quesadilla or chicharron soup and we both had the chicharron soup. They serve fresh warm corn tortillas with the soup. Then they replenish the tortilla basket by tossing the ones we didnt consume and placed fresh ones to serve with our main dish (I'm slightly picky about stuff like that so my hubby watched the server as he took the basket away). Both of our dishes came out much bigger in portion than we expected and were absolutely delicious! Our meal came out to $15 with the current exchange rate of almost 19 mxn to 1 usd! By the time we were finished with our meal and left the restaurant, there was a huge line of people waiting outside! I guess we just got a good head start that day!

This place was delicious. Came here with fiancée for breakfast. The service was outstanding, and our server was very friendly and communicative. They serve very big portions here, I was unable to finish my plate. I ordered the huevos rancheros with a side of bacon. I also had coffee, and it came with a small pastry. Appetizer was free, we got quesadilla for our app. Definitely recommend coming here!

I came here during lunch hour on a Monday and it seemed moderately busy. Quite the cozy place, very comfortable and it was decorated with Christmas decor. I was seated quickly, and my order was taken efficiently. Chips and salsa quickly came out along with the condiments I would later use on my meal. Overall, I received excellent table service. The focus of this restaurant is on Birria, both beef and lamb. There isn't a variety of other Mexican dishes here such as enchiladas, burritos or seafood. There is instead a plethora of ways to eat the Birria including tacos, quesa-birria, and stew bowls only in beef or lamb. No chicken or vegetarian options available. I ordered the lamb Birria, which came in a standard sized bowl. The portions were modest, and the ratio from broth to chunks of meat was reasonable. While this place was highly rated, I found my meal to be average in both size and taste. When it comes to this delicious dish, I am a bit of a connoisseur, and I've had birria in different parts of Mexico, including Mexicali, Guadalajara, Ensenada and outside of Mexico- restaurants throughout Los Angeles and all the way up to northern California. This was not the best tasting birria I have experience up-to-date but it also was not disappointing. The flavors were standard and fair yet not memorable. I would recommend this establishment. Tip: my usual order at these places is the stew in a bowl with a side of corn tortillas. For those with larger appetites, I would suggest ordering the same thing, but consider adding one-to-two quesa-Birrias to reach satisfaction. I would return here but also leave my options open to try the competition.

Thus we made a point to stop by for food during our second cruise stop in Ensenada, 4 days later. We discovered the large crowds were not in line waiting, but were instead enjoying their ceviche and other cold seafood while standing up. It made for a festive atmosphere, definitely ramping up the enjoyment of really great tasting seafood. The food stall is located facing the main road of Ensenada (walking distance from the cruise port) and is separated into two parts: the front serving seafood tostadas and the back serving cocktails and aquachiles. Each had different lines, with a common guy accepting payment after delivery. They have been doing this for a while (1981?) and things are efficient. I wanted one thing, which was the mixed cocktail with all the seafood available (campechano, a word I've come to love since moving to the LA area). They have 4 sizes from chico ($105) to jumbo ($360). The seafood mix is diced together ahead of time to save on time, and are mostly diced pretty fine. The mix is prepared fresh though, and was ready in about a minute. It was excellent, refreshing and just the right amount for me. I had wanted to try the seafood cocktail again from La Guerrerense (another nearby famous seafood stand), so that was our first stop during our second visit to Ensenada in 5 days. We then visited other sites in the area, saving El Guero for the end before we headed back to the ship. As expected the cocktail from Guerrerense was very good, but this version from El Guero was even better....better selection of seafood, and more finely mixed to give a better representation of the different textures of the freshness. That would make it the best seafood cocktail I've ever enjoyed.

My fellowship, a cluster of mere mortals with taste far keener than foresight, insisted we seek a place foretold in gustatory prophecy: La Cocedora de Langosta. I assented, though the sea had begun to speak again. A cruel trick of salt and memory. We arrived. The lobster was not served--it presented itself. Shell split like prophecy fulfilled, meat steaming with tales older than Atlantis. The ceviche? Lime and fire in perfect alchemy. It hissed in my mouth like the last words of a betrayed siren. A whole fish, fried until its soul ascended, left bones so clean they could be used in ritual. Angels wept; I salted accordingly. The risotto arrived next, not on a plate but in a chalice. Each bite stirred marrow and memory, comfort and command. My sea legs stood straighter. My resolve thickened. Libations flowed--freely, fervently, faultlessly. The chalice refilled itself (or perhaps the staff were trained in illusion and replenishment). Laughter, clinking glass, and something close to joy dared to rise. Staff were keen-eyed adepts, operating with the grace of trained familiars. The atmosphere carried hints of volcanic enchantment and citrus optimism. Barry the Brave Muffin Baker--my misguided nemesis-ally--might have found peace here. Or at least, a decent aioli. Verdict: A rare convergence of flesh, flavor, and fate. Five stars scorched upon the firmament by my hand. I may never return. But that's only because the enchantment forbade it.
