Probably one of the most deliciously appetizing meals I've ever had. The location is absolutely lovely and something someone should experience both during the day and night! Tucked away in a beautiful garden with peacocks. I was just amazed at how lovely and tranquil the space was. The location to eat gave a similar low key diner vibe, with a specific setup that sets up everyone for an intimate conversation. Their water is like a chamomile dream. It was so good and refreshing! After a day of wine, it was just what we needed. The food itself for the tasting menu was so good - I only took one photo and everything else was a modern fusion of Mexican staples. If you're able to snag a reservation, definitely take it! And go with a group open minded to foods.

Lunario is exceptional. Chef Sheyla showcases her skills in dishes ranging from: smoked carrots w/feta in a creamy soup to cabrito served in an almost asian style chili oil. Each dish is balanced and perfectly seasoned. The ambiance is definitely more fine dining but staff keeps things light. Jesus, Benjamin [sommelier] and Bryan were super cool and even recommended local spots nearby. This restaurant champions farm to table and is definitely a top 3 fine dining experience in all of Mexico. Would highly recommend!

When I heard this was a woman chef leading the way for VDG culinary scene, I was ecstatic! People said this was better than Deckmans, we were hyped. It is a small place, very intimate. The inside has a clear roof and you can see the kitchen and all the staff. Reminds me of the movie "the menu". They start you with this herb water, which was pretty refreshing, I was a fan. We were able to split tasting menus, half of us getting the 4 course and the other half the 6 course. I got the 6 course. Let me say, the food was a big disappointment, especially if you're expecting some protein or meat. It was mostly all vegetables and variations of different cream. It got super boring after the first 3 items were cream. Started with the amuse bouche which was the shrimp sope, a small bite, pretty decent. The first course was an asparagus, tomatillo and cream. It went well with bread, kind of like vegan bagel and cream cheese feel. Then the 2nd, crudo, with another cream. Barely any pieces of crudo, it was mostly cream. I ate some and didn't want to eat the rest, too creamy. The 3rd was the grilled oyster mushroom, which was pretty decent. The 4th was this fried soft shell crab with this mole cream. It was too salty, and not regular mole. Super salty and oily. The 5th was a smoked lamb. The lamb was good except you get like 1oz of it and again a another cream. The palate cleanser was a kumquat sorbet, it was a good palate cleanser, especially that there was no cream. The final dessert was yogurt, beet and AGAIN a raspberry cream. 5 dishes with a cream. Similar cream but slightly different flavoring. Everything was flat, boring and one noted cream. The only good thing was the service. Which was impeccable. I would not recommend this unless you just want to eat a bunch of vegetables and cream. I can't believe this got so many high ratings. Did we miss something?! Our whole group agreed that this was one of the most disappointing tasting menu we tasted. I would say a 2.5 for food.

Lunario was hands down the best dining experience in Mexico. In my top 3 favorite of all time. The food was amazing and very creative. My favorite was the tamale that was made with ashes from the spices that they used. The ambiance of the restaurant was charming as well. The service was incredible. We had ran into car troubles due to navigating the dirt roads in Mexico. Brian the manager came out and walked down the road with a flashlight to find us. The staff was attentive and Brian even helped us navigate to the main road via phone when we left. The staff here was exceptional and so was the food. If you are looking for the best restaurant in Ensenada look no further.

As others have said, this is the best restaurant in Valle right now. In fact, it's one the the best meals we've had anywhere in 2022. The space is intimate, trendy and very well apportioned. The service is impeccable - and it comes off as cool and confident but welcoming. The food is interesting, super flavorful, and has you wanting a repeat of each dish you try. The menu does best for groups of 2-4, maybe 6. Go for the full 6 courses and the wine pairing - you'll be very content! Pictures are of the August menu. If Valle had star ratings, this place would easily have a two-star. Come on a Thursday or Friday before they are overwhelmed by weekend crowds. If you debating visiting here or other, older well known restaurants in Valle, this is the one!

What a gorgeous location and an equally fantastic menu. Each dish was incredible. Really appreciated the farm to table approach, which seems de rigueur for Valle. The plums were grown right on the farm and you can tell the chef and staff are proud of what they're serving. The plantain tamal with recado and raw cream was one of my favorites. It's kind of hard to pick a favorite when each dish was unique. But the flavor palette and presentation was striking. And honestly, the pre-dessert was definitely good enough to be the dessert! This is a must for anyone visiting Valle.

This place is next level. I'm not typically into fine dining. Often you're paying a lot for very little. I value nutritious, fresh food rather than what the plate looks like. However, this place did not disappoint! Servings are small as to be expected, but flavor and freshness was there in every dish. Each dish was also very unique. When you finish your meal, they ask you if you would like to revisit a dish (for no extra cost!).. the biggest issue is choosing which one. I'm not a big drinker, but my friends mentioned that the wine was very good. And, the service was EXCELLENT! We were so bummed that it's in Mexico and so hard to get to because we can't wait to return. This might actually be one of my new favorite restaurants.

We almost didn't make it to Lunario for dinner - being completely wine-d out and having a lackluster dinner at Deckman's the night before - but we managed to get our group together and we're so glad we did. The walk through the gardens to get to the restaurant is whimsically beautiful, especially at dusk when we arrived. As we walked down the steps next to the pond, the waitstaff greeted us by name and the service continued to be impeccable the whole night through. It's either 4 or 6 course tasting menu only, along with wine pairing or a la carte beverages. Every dish was presented simultaneously to our party of 6 and everything was absolutely delicious. The menu changes every so often and we'll definitely be returning for the new menu.

Best restaurant in Valle de Guadalupe. 12 of us dined here for my birthday at the end of June and it was the most amazing experience. I really wanted to eat a restaurant in Valle that actually had a Mexican chef, last time we were in Valle we didn't have that experience and I am SO happy I chose Lunario. From making the reservations, to the service, to the food, it was all 5 stars. They made me feel so special on my birthday. It was difficult to select how many courses to do with a group of 12, so we ended up going with the 4 course meal. We were all very happy with this choice, it felt like enough and we got to taste so much! We would definitely try the 6 course as well though next time. I can't say enough about the service and the food, if you're thinking about eating here, do it! Michelin tasting food, presentation and service, extremely reasonable pricing. Gracias a todos! Regresamos pronto!

A hidden gem! Beautiful walk down to the restaurant through the winery grounds. The service was amazing, they started us with infused lavender and rosemary sweet water which we named "butterfly water". And so many courses! We did the 4 course tasting menu and wine pairing, mine vegetarian and my partners standard, they gave us 3 bonus courses "to make sure we didn't leave hungry" which we indeed did not. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. A great experience all around, would go back

The paired agua fresca

Seriously, one of my all time favorite dinners! I can't recommend this place enough. Mind blowing tastes, magical atmosphere. World class! From the amuse bouche, to the paired agua fresca, to the dessert... spectacular! The flavors were so intense! I was so impressed by the creativity of the dishes, the flavor pallets, and immaculate presentation. Also, like all my experiences in Mexico this year, I was happy with the precautions put in place for COVID. I felt safe and could relax into my meal.

This place is a must try! I made reservations for my birthday dinner, there is a lot of communication that happens and I was very glad for it . First I'll start with the drive to the restaurant , it is beautiful and the paved road is easy to follow. Once you turn off the paved road however it gets tricky if you have a very low to the ground car like I do ( plus it had just rained and there were massive puddles). I called the restaurant to ask if they had a car service to get us up and they sent Enrique to the rescue! Mind you it was his personal SUV, but they were so kind as to pick us up! Once we reached the top the vineyard and outside gardens are stunning! We started with a glass of wine and walked around the premises. The staff was so incredibly attentive, they did not miss a beat. Once seated we were greeted by our waiter Edwyn and the sommelier Benjamin. Each course was mouth watering and I chose the 6 course vegetarian dinner paired with wine and my fiancé chose the 6 course regular dinner paired with wine as well. The visual appeal of each dish is so artistic and the flavors so rich. The pace in which our courses were being served was thoughtful and timely. The inside decor is simple and modern, with several plants hanging from the ceiling giving the feel of a green house. This is such a unique experience and one my partner and I will never forget. Go and try it for yourself! Thank you to all the staff and especially Enrique!

For starters, this place is Michelin recognized, and was rated best breakfast in the world in 2015…read moreby FoodieHub. I told myself if I'm ever in the area again, I have to make an effort to eat at this place. Well, the opportunity arose as I was staying at a nearby winery. The biggest problem I encountered was finding a ride to get to this restaurant. Taxis are nonexistent in the area. Ubers are only in the area when someone from Ensenada requests a round trip to the area, so no they are not available to others. Therefore, I expressed my frustration with the front desk at my winery hotel and they took on the task of finding me private transportation. About 40 minutes later, they called my room to inform me that they located a driver. Unfortunately, he requested an inflated price for the to and from the restaurant. Private drivers down here know that you have few choices, therefore, they can ask inflated prices. Yes, I was in a pickle, but I really wanted to go. I did not rent a car because many of the roads hug cliffs and everyone drives fast, because they know where all of the mountain curves are. Being from Chicago, where we also drive fast but don't have mountain cliff roads decided to play it safe and let others do the driving for me. Anyhow, I debated, and in the end agreed to the expensive terms because when I going to get the opportunity again to eat at a place rated best breakfast in the world? How was the breakfast? It was absolutely delicious, everything was made from scratch. I ordered the cafe de la olla which interprets into coffee from the pot because typically it is prepared with raw sugar (piloncillo), canella (cinnamon sticks), and orange zest. How was the coffee? Delicious. I had some machaca (small bits of dried beef) with eggs which came with delicious refried beans. I also ordered the excellent chilaquiles with an egg and a side of bacon. I also needed to order the one thing most talk about on their menu which is the corn bread pancakes. They used the recipe for a typical corn bread sold down here called pan de elote to make the pancakes, and yes, they were excellent. Turning the batter from this recipe into pancakes was a brilliant idea. Also, I cannot leave out the great tasting freshly made corn tortillas that came with the food. The tortillas down here taste different from the ones back in Chicago because down here a white heirloom corn is utilized rather than the sweet yellow dent corn from the Midwest. Was it the best breakfast that I have ever had in Mexico, or anywhere else for that matter? Well, it definitely lived up to the hype the breakfast was amazing and I do highly recommend it. If you do decide to visit, my best advice is show up early because a line forms very early. I have been lucky to have also had other amazing breakfasts in Mexico and other places in my travels. The secret to this restaurant sits right behind it. On the restaurant grounds is an active ranch, which also doubles as a small zoo, where they source their milk and meats from. Yes, they raise their own animals which later become items on the menu. Does that fresh matter? Yes, it absolutely does make all of the difference. Does it sound cruel? Well, that is a whole other conversation. Let's just say the animals are treated humanely. All of the livestock looked happy as they roamed around the grounds. Unlike the way livestock is treated inhumanly in the United States in dirty overcrowded housing where some never get to see the sun or roam freely in the open air. Livestock in the US are constantly given antibiotics and growth hormones, also fed gmo feed with questionable health implications for those that consume them.

Just a heads up: the seating is one long communal table. If you're picturing a quiet little two top date night, this isn't that. It's more of a "we're all in this together" setup, which actually ended up being pretty fun. We went for the full tasting menu with the beverage pairing, and it was absolutely worth it. The tasting menu consisted of 14 courses. They served things I never would've ordered on my own, and that ended up being the best part. The oyster and clam dishes were incredible, and the scallops were another standout. The drink pairing was surprisingly great too, way more adventurous than what I would've picked off a menu, and I ended up loving a couple of the wines I'd skipped during our earlier tasting at Bruma. Service was on point from start to finish, and the whole experience just felt special. If you're in Valle de Guadalupe, make time for Fauna. It's absolutely a must visit.
