Mixt might be brand new to Oakland, but because they're an established restaurant in SF you would think they'd be able to have better managers running their establishment. Isya, who runs Mixt Oakland is rude, overbearing and disrespectful to customers. I understand that they're just opening, but their completely disorganized. The way in-store purchases and to-go orders is very inconsistent. I waited over 30 mins to get an online order that was made 30 mins prior. I asked for my salad to be mixed with dressing - this was denied by their manager because "they don't do that" even though they will mix all to-go orders who are ordering within their line. This can be easy to understand if it's explained appropriately, but Isya doesn't think speaking to customers kindly is a thing he has to do. Unfortunately, I watched him mistreat several other people who were waiting significantly longer for their to-go orders than they should as well, so I'm led to believe it wasn't a personal attack on me. Beyond the bad customer service by management. The salad was fine. Is it worth $16? Absolutely not. Oakland might be on it's way to taking on SF's people, but it still isn't SF and we shouldn't be made to pay these high prices for, TBH, a normal sized salad. There's plenty of places to get salads in Oakland that treat their customers with respect and don't overcharge them. I'll also mention that Mixt has already removed one of my reviews, because it didn't fit their standards, so hopefully this will help them understand that their restaurant is unpleasant because who wants to pay for on overpriced salad and get treated poorly. read more

Mixt may seem a bit expensive for a salad, but their food is always fresh, delicious, and the portions are always large enough for two servings. The staff at the Broadway location is friendly, helpful, and generous with the portions! I've lived in the neighborhood for a few years and have had a hard time finding a place to get a quick, good, healthy salad besides Whole Foods. I've gone to Mixt a lot in SF so I was really jazzed they opened right near Drake's and Brown Sugar Kitchen. I've only been to this location one time, but I've never had an issue with service. Even during SF lunch rushes, the line has always moved really quickly as efficiently. I decided to get a few things for dinner for my boyfriend and me to share- I got the zesty grain bowl (one of my favorite options with quinoa, kale, pickled red onions, chicken, avocado, orange and feta) and then opted for one of the dinner plates (which I had never tried) with the trout, mashed cauli and grilled broccoli. The salad was fab as usual, and the fish came in a nice sauce with super generous portions for the sides. The two combined was more than enough food for both of us to share, and we ended up with some leftovers. Although it's not cheap, it's on par with many of the other restaurants in the area and offers a great selection of really healthy options. They have tons of salad toppings so that you can make your own or choose from one of the other pre-made options where they update a few seasonally. This is my 2nd time coming here and I came back because my salad the first time was really good! The first time I did a build your own salad and the ingredients were super fresh which made for a bomb salad. This time around I ordered the Falaf salad. I'm slowly but surely trying to get into the Vegan life so I appreciate the vegan options Mixt offers. I first thought to myself "these ingredients are a bit interesting" and was tempted to just stick to what I know but I'm glad I stepped out on faith lol. The food is good here but it's weird that they don't have a contact number to call. This place was 5 stars to me until today. I went and got a peachy salad and when I made it home I was eating my salad only to realize there were no peaches in it! There was no number to call the store so I had to walk back to the store because I'm sure that if I didn't, they wouldn't believe me if I tried to bring it up at a later date. I told them there were no peaches in it and one of the employees looked around at it I guess to make sure I wasn't lying?? She then went back and cut up some peaches and came back with a handful of them and threw it on the top of my salad. Last time I got the salad they had the peaches already cut up in a container. It just made me get the feeling that they didn't have them so they just decided to omit them. Idk it just seemed off. And I never got an apology or a simple "I'm sorry about that". Customers essentially choose from over 15-20 different ingredients (from the type of leaves for the base to the toppings) and watch as a server masterfully mixes your salad right in front of your eyes. This location is clean, spacious, and quick with the service. The salads are a bit on the expensive side, so expect to break a $20. I ordered a salad tonight for the first time and I was disappointed. I got the falafel pieces added to my salad and it was like eating rocks. I worried about my dental work and chipping teeth the pieces were almost impossible to bite. I added avocado as an add on and i got one slice cut into 2 pieces so maybe 1/16th of an avocado when it shows much more in the photos. The roasted cauliflower wasn't roasted or golden at all and seemed steamed and soggy (it has no color or flavor indicating roasting). The serving of arugula was plenty, the other items not so much. The tahini dressing is good, but needed a bit more. I would order again but just be aware of things that I have raised here. We were in vited has for the grand opening and every single plate we had was phenomenal. Their staff was beyond knowledgeable, super hospitable and trained to AT. We ordered the Wranglee Salad, The Cobb Salad, and their seasonal plates as well. The flat iron steak was very well seasoned and tenderly cooked, the Herb roasted chicken was so juicy and phenomenal. TRE (employee) tried two times to make the sandwich and for some reason she was struggling to follow the recipe. She was going to make it for the third time when I stopped her and walkout. I don't think it's her fault I believe it's lack of training. I waited at least 12 minutes to order my food and then waiting 7 minutes watching TRE struggling to make my sandwich and still walked out without food. I should have just ordered my usual COB salad. Something is different since the last time i ordered a salad here in December---that something propelled me to write a review. I placed an order online for the first time; reluctantly, as the reviews about mobile orders always mention portion sizes or lack thereof. I get to the location around 815 (45 min before close), the order wasn't ready yet but it was no rush, there was still 15 min until the pickup window would have come and gone. When I mentioned my name, they advised that it wasn't ready but one of the Team Members advised that I was there and looked to speed up my order (there was no other customer in the store, just other mobile orders being filled). He asked the other employees who were on the salad line, to assist with getting my order done then headed to the kitchen area after their reply. He comes back about 5 min later to let me know that the delay is because they are waiting on rice and offered me a beverage for the wait--I accepted. He comes back a few moments later with a fresh batch of 'right rice' and they proceed to make my bowl. As I waited in the lobby, I watched about 5 salads made, all with generous portions, double checking orders before they were deemed 'ready' then checked again by the Cashier before being bagged. To the Management Team here, you all have seemingly taken the online reviews and made a true effort to address some of the concerns. As someone who frequents this location, even just to grab a Orange Turmeric juice or a cookie, I want to say, job well done to the team on shift tonight. At a lot of restaurants if you arrive in the final 30-45 minutes of closing or as food stations are being broken down, your meal is often subpar and it feels like you're getting scraps. The salads I watched being made tonight were anything but that--the ingredients were still very fresh, no wilted greens or other veggies. Shout out to Saint, if he isn't a Manager, you should strongly consider it. He has a great disposition with customers and other Team Members alike. He spoke to his team with courtesy and respect and the offer of the juice while I waited was not necessary but very kind, in consideration of the wait time. Great job again and thank you! If you had "MIXT" reviews or you wrote this particular location off for any of the reasons that I've addressed in my review, consider giving them another chance---they seem to take the customer's issues into consideration and implement better ways to operate and to ultimately make the customer happy. read more

Had lunch at Mixt with my friend. There was a long line 10 mins before noon, so we ordered salad in a to go box. It took about 5-10mins to prepare an order. We ordered Beetnik and Orchard salad. The dressing tastes flavorful and the veggies were fresh. There was too much dressing on mine. Next time I will ask for less dressing or get it on the side. I'm looking for a BALANCE of ingredients and flavors in every bite and not an overwhelming taste and feel of lettuce. So much lettuce. GUSHING REVIEW - on both the food AND the customer service! I started a new job in Downtown Oakland and needed to provide a working lunch for 16 people. Armed with nothing but a Google map I landed on MIXT and I'm so happy I did! The food was delicious - the salads were fresh, with crisp juicy greens, LOADS of fixin's, and salad dressing you wanted to DRINK! (Seriously - order extra cause you don't want to run out!) The sandwiches were full of goodness and amply loaded! I, unfortunately, ordered the wrong-sized salads (smalls instead of larges) and in seeing my panic with a hungry crew approaching - Ryan was able to place an order for the large salads, and he was back (no joke) in TWELVE MINUTES! The menu made it hard to choose, everything sounded amazing. We got the beetnik, Capri, and grilled broccoli. The beetnik was every bit as good as it sounded, grilled broccoli was delicious, and the Capri had some terrific qualities like the pickled strawberries and buratta, but it was overwhelmingly salty.
