I purchased a certified pre owned 2019 Ram Laramie Longhorn about a year and a half ago. Since then I have had to take my truck back to this dealership twice to have it's front CV axles replaced. This is the only dealer that has touched my vehicle until I recently moved due to work (military). I noticed I was having a wobble in my steering wheel again and took the truck to get a tire rotation as well as brakes looked at "surely it can't be the axles again, they just replaced them in April of 2022" I thought to myself.
At the new local RAM dealership I learn that the front passenger CV axle is blown once more. And I am also informed that the front differential is also damaged and appears to have been damaged during a hasty repair and will also need to be replaced.
Now for the bad news. I am informed that it is not under warranty from RAM because it is not considered wear and tear, it is the fault of a RAM tech failing to repair it properly. The new dealership informs me that I must pay out of pocket or have the dealership that made the repair pay ($4026.94).
So thinking that I was dealing with professionals, I reach out the Mitchell RAM and explain the situation. Initially I am told the warranty work done on the last repair has a 2 year unlimited mile warranty, so when I explain that it's not covered and either they or I have to pay, I am asked to send photos (attached) and Reggie (Mitchell CDJR service manager) says he needs to contact his boss (Bob a higher service manager of 5 dealerships) to make this decision. I specifically ask to speak with Bob as well and make 6 different phone calls to reach him and never get to speak to Bob. Another day or two later I call them some more, I still do not get to speak to Bob, but Reggie informs me that "Bob's not in.... He isn't going to pay". I ask Reggie to have him call me or if he would like to speak to my attorney, Reggie says he'll pass along the message.
I call back moments later to reach the GM Darren Wilson. I am told he is out and not sure when he'll return. I ask for Josh Maloy as he was there the day I bought my truck, and I had seen him at the chop each time I got my CV axles repaired. He faintly remembered the purchase and I explained the situation. He understood my frustration and informed me he would reach out to the GM and see what comes of it.
I get a call later that day from Reggie once again and this time he says that "the owner is looking into it, we'll give him the photos and info and get back to you"
I see that as good progress! Maybe now the dealership that damaged my truck will see to it that they make things right.
The following day I get a call saying that the owner will not participate.
I still haven't heard from Bob himself, I still haven't heard from Darren himself even though I have called several times and requested to speak with them. I have passed my phone number through reception and Reggie at least 3 times and simple contact request's have not been met.
1. The certified pre owned 5 year 100,000 mile warranty means nothing when the dealer breaks your truck and then doesn't want to fix it. I almost thing that they've instilled a flaw so that they can keep getting warranty work paid for by RAM so that Mitchell RAM doesn't have to pay their techs themselves.
2. Their contact is terrible. If the owner, Bob, or Darren do not want to speak to me they can and will be speaking to my attorney .
It's a shame that this has happened, they express that they are greatly appreciative of their military but when they have to back it, they say things like we're "not in" or "not going to participate".
do not buy from Mitchell RAM, make the trip to Dothan, you truly can't understand how grateful you'll be unless you're regretting it and it's too late. read more
