Dr, In 2018 or 2019, I had an 'annual' exam with Dr Shultz. When the regular exam was finished, you asked your nurse for a stethoscope. I have had 'some' medical training and that seemed unusual. You measured both of my Carotid arteries and said (in no uncertain terms), "You are about to have a stroke". That was certainly unexpected. You wrote a prescription for a 'Full vascular workup'. It took a couple of days to get to my Primary Physician. I told her the story and handed her the prescription. She said "Well, the Dr (Shultz) doesn't seem to specify what she would be looking for. SHE HANDED THE PRESCRIPTION BACK TO ME and said that 'there was nothing that she could do'. I went back to your office and the Office Staff recommended a 'new doctor'. I switched doctors rapidly. They put me through the Treadmill Stress test, a heart monitor, etc., Cat scan of the brain, heart, etc. Nothing 'irregular'. Fast-forward to last year. That new doctor was collecting his Medicare 'chits' and did not really 'care' for his patients. I switched Primary Care and Insurance Groups. I have seen more doctors since switching in September 2023 that my entire life!! New Cardiologist, Stein Eye Institute and more. The Bottom Line is that I had an 'ocular occlusion' === A Stroke of the Eye when you first diagnosed it!! The cardiologist found that i had a PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale); a hole in my heart since birth. Thank you for your 'early diagnosis'. Unfortunately, the doctors that initially followed up, didn't. The 2-star is not for Doctor's ability. He is absolutely wonderful and skillful. The review is only for the waiting time. This is the 3rd time I came to visit this office and every time I was here for appointment, I had to wait about 1 hour at least. I mean, what's the point of making appointment when we can't be served within "acceptable" waiting time. I understand things can be behind sometimes, but an hour for every time I was here... To start here is a little background about my eyes. I have been wearing glasses since I was 2yrs old and probably should have had them at birth. I was told that I would be blind by the time I was 12. Thankfully, that never happened. As the years went by my vision got worse and my glasses thicker and thicker. For 50 years I have not been able to wake up and see the world around me as most people. My field of vision was literally 4 inches in front of my face. I could not recognize my husband or children without hearing their voices if I didn't have my glasses on! Enter Dr. Shultz.. I originally saw Dr. Shultz because I also have Graves' Opthalmopathy that affects my eyes and can cause them to bulge sometimes which can damage the optic nerve so it had to be monitored. During a follow up, he told me that due to the severity of my nearsightedness (myopia), I had developed cataracts and could have it fixed whenever I was ready. After gathering up my courage and coming to terms with having surgery on my eyes Dr. Shultz did my left eye about 4 mos ago and my right eye a few weeks later and forever changed my life as I knew it! He was able to implant new lens that corrected my vision to nearly 20/20. Immediately after the procedure, for the first time in 50 years, I was able to see without glasses. As my eyes healed my vision got even better. I could get up in the middle of the night without fumbling for my glasses. I could read, drive, swim and watch TV without glasses. You get the idea here. For that I am forever grateful. His skill and knowledge has helped me beyond words. He is compassionate and truly cares about his patients. My mother was referred to this clinic to get an evaluation for Glaucoma. We went in around three weeks back for the testing. We were told that the doctor will call us in a couple of days and let us know the result. He didn't call so i followed up and have now called the doctors office at least three times since then to get the result of the test but we haven't heard back. While I understand doctors may be busy, this behavior is outright unprofessional. If you are the doctor and reading this, then please have the basic courtesy to respond to my follow up's and let me know what the result of the testing was. UPDATE : 6/5/2019 After I posted this review, the doctor and I exchanged a couple of messages in which the doctor explained that they had some technical issues because of which he was unable to make the report available in a timely manner. He provided options for me to get access to the report and so today I contacted the office again and was able to gain access to the patient portal. While I still don't have the report, the front office will be speaking with the doctor and mailing us the report and hopefully the next course of action for treatment. I believe Dr Mitchell cares about his patients and his business and he has demonstrated that by being responsive to this review and clarifying what happened and so i am updating my review to reflect the same. read more

The doctors here are great, but the wait time in the office is extremely long. My appointment was for 11:15. I arrived 10 minutes early and then the doctor didn't even see me until 12:45! I asked the receptionist if this was normal and she confirmed that it is! She told me that 1 to 2 hours is normal at this office!!!! Anyhow, my suggestion if you make an appointment with this doctor; bring your I-Pad, office work, a stack of magazines or a really thick interesting book that you haven't had time to read. Also, make sure to give yourself a good 3-4 hour window for driving and office wait time since there's a good chance you will need it. read more

Evidently, posting an Update on the same day as the review does not actually post the same way. As i noted, the specific issue was not with ihe care provided by Dr Shultz. I was having a severe situation with my left eye. Most of the eye was red; this had been continuing for 10 days, increasing my concern. I called for an appointment and explained the details. I was told that I did not have a problem with my eyes. It was bleeding blood vessels . I said that it only is in my eyes. I was told that I could not be helped. I could not make an appointment. I did go to another eye doctor. his diagnosis was a virus in my left eye. it needed treatment. I was using Alrex for several weeks . The virus was no longer present after a few follow up appointments. Per Dr Shultz' rep[y, he has implemented changes. I would certainly consider requesting an appointment in the near future. read more

Earlier today I posted a negative review for Dr. Shultz and I would just like to retract all the negative thing I said about Dr. Shultz. A few hours after I posted my review, I was having lunch, and I was totally surprised to hear it was the doctor. He had read my review on my office visits and was very nice. I have never had an eye or medical doctor call me on the phone as a result of a review on yelp. He said he was sorry that I had the impression that he didn't like me, and he always try's to treat all his patients with respect and dignity regardless of the type of insurance they may have. HE explained that I had underlying condition with my right eye and that is why I was having problems with my vision He prescribed eye drops to see if this would help, and if not a surgical procedure would be considered. He was so very nice and polite and must have spent 15 minutes explaining things to me, and apologizing if he had offended me in any way. I know he is a very busy person, but i also know he is a very good doctor too. His staff treats you like you are an extended family member. I feel much better after talking to Dr. Shultz and I am looking forward to my next appointment with him on August 13. I also feel more comfortable with him as a person and looking forward to having him for any eye issues that might come up. Thank you Dr. Shultz for taking the time to call me and explaining my eye condition in laymen's terms. I guess sometimes I rush to judgement on people and that isn't right.
