I thought they were honest, professional, and fair. I brought in my Kindle for repair. It wasn't powering up or charging. I thought maybe it was my charger. So I tried another charger which didn't seem to work. That's when I decided to drop it off at MIT Computers for diagnostics. It was $20 to run a diagnostic on it, and they told me they would call me in a couple of days. They called and told me that the Kindle started right up during the diagnostic test. I guess it had to be reset or something. I was told to bring in both of my chargers to check them out. I did just that, and there was nothing wrong with the chargers. Also, my Kindle was working and there hasn't been an issue with it since. They could have just said it was the battery and charged me more money to replace it. I wouldn't have known the difference, but they told me I didn't need one. I have a friend who used to take her laptop to the one on Dale Mabry before it closed. She was very happy with their service. In fact, she's unhappy because they are no longer there, and didn't know they had a shop in Brandon. Now she knows after I told her about my experience. Hopefully I won't need to come back any time soon, but this is the place where I'd bring my Kindle or laptop in for repair if ever needed. read more

6 minutes ago NEW I don't recommend this location. First, they say 3 to 5 days to diagnose the issue but can't even meet that time line. Then when asked about it on the 6th day, they say, "we'll, you did bring it on the afternoon of the 1st day". I requested if they could not complete the diagnostic by the end of the 6th day to give me a call so i could pick up the pc and give my business elsewhere; they said "sure". I just went to MIT Computers in Brandon, FL. Because the outside plastic cap of the W key in my Dell Laptop fell off. The guy without even taking a quick look first tells me it was $40 to "diagnose it". I told him that I could put it back myself but I didn't have the tools. Why would he need to diagnose it? Well, I ended paying the $40.. A few hours later he calls me that that it was ready. I went to pick it up and when I got on my car to take off, I checked it and the cap fell off again. I brought it back in and he "looked surprised". They took it back and put back on again. I ask if I had a warranty and he tells me that there is no warranty because he just charged me for the diagnose, that it would cost $150 to do the work. Yeah, you read it right, $150 for a plastic key cap. These people will rip you off. Never coming back again. $150 is the price to replace the entire keyboard... read more

A month or two ago my MOBO and CPU fried so I asked for a bigger MOBO and the same or better CPU (old CPU:i5-8600k ; current: i5 8400). So after I told him that, he repeatedly tells me the processor he got is slightly better than the one I have now, so of course I agreed to it especially since he mentioned that its around the same price range. Then I pay for quick service (since its my only computer) and leave. Some time goes by and we keep in contact every other day since I always trusted on them to give me a status check since I payed for quick services. Regardless, I put my faith in them since we've been keeping in touch the previous days. Then I get a phone call saying he installed the CPU, which I respond along the lines of, "Okay great, just to make sure, is it the same or better?" which he responded with, "it's a little better than the other one you had" and then I thought its weird because I knew something was up when he hesitated and had to check his "notes" to see if it as better or not even though this is the one question I have been frequently asking, even over the phone. So of course with me trusting yet again, it happens to be my downfall... again. The processor thats currently installed is something I would NEVER approve of and I should've checked instead of asking multiple times. I do not think it is my fault for not checking sooner because why in any scenario should an employee LIE to me MULTIPLE TIMES about what processor I had installed, to my face. I find it extremely unprofessional and feel betrayed after giving them so much service and recommendations in the past. I have already sent a message on the website but have low hopes since I have already been treated this poorly as a recurring customer. I would give this place a negative if it would let me. I am writing this to warn others to stay away since they don't stand behind what they are installing, or their work. They DO NOT WARRANTY THEIR WORK!! We spent over $800 to get a new motherboard, processor, RAM and a Windows installation on a gaming PC. It all seemed great for ten months, then it wouldn't boot up. It had an error and we contacted MIT Computers and of course they said to bring it in. I took it in and they told me to give them $80 to look at it (which would go toward the repairs). So stupid me, I gave them my credit card. That should have been a red flag right there! They said they would call on Saturday. Saturday came and went, and so did Monday. I called and they said it's ready! (They weren't going to call me...) They told me that the motherboard that I bought from them ten months ago is bad and that I would have to send it back to ASUS. They didn't even remove it from the computer. Yeah, $80 gets you NOTHING here! We had to take it out and according to ASUS, you have to return it with the cover that came on it, but of course when they had installed it they had thrown away the cover! I sent it back anyway, hoping they wouldn't care about that. So it turns out ASUS sends it back to me and said it's "okay", and couldn't duplicate the problem. They said they updated the BIOS. That's all. Anway, we installed the motherboard and of course it DOESN'T WORK!! So now I am out the additional $16 for shipping to ASUS and the $80 to MIT who DID NOT DO ANYTHING!!! These guys are taking money for nothing and I hope they are happy with the now over $900 they've gotten from us in the last year and we have a computer that DOESN'T WORK AT ALL!!! read more

I took a (friend's) iPad there to get repaired in November. It took them two weeks to repair (it was supposed to take 3 days. They had to rush to finish it before i needed to return it to my friend. The screen was new and looked good but i never saw it on.. Fast forward to January when my friend said he never could get the iPad to come on.... I took it back in explained the issue. Next i heard was it has a bad system board, $150 repair... Did they not notice when they replaced the screen? I go to pick up the dead iPad and somehow they broke the glass again. The manager who says he diagnosed the iPad had no idea how the glass was broken, he was not the technician... I have had a couple items repaired here in the past and thought highly of them. I had never dealt with the "manager" before or i may have never returned. I am stuck with a broken iPad with another cracked glass with no explanation from them on how either happened. read more

Do not take your computer here for repair. I went back and forth with them for several months then told waiting on a part each time I followed up. Never heard back again and now I am being told I abandoned my computer and they attempted to contact me which is not true . All my documents , pictures ...gone. The diagnosis fee is $40 and it will be credit torward to any repairing fee. i called and visited them 3 days after their promising date. they told me it will take $300 to fix my computer. $200 for reinstalling the window and $120 for replacing DC jack. but bradyn mitchell told me that he can repair the DC jack for just $80. so i requested to just repair the DC jack. but next day he failed to repairing the DC jack. so i went there to pick it up. but my computer got alot of scratches on top case and power was completely out of power. I was very upset becaue my new computer got so much more damaged then before. However Bradyn Mitchell offered me again that one other speciallist who is most expert person in this field can fix my DC jack. but it will be cost $200. he can give me $100 of store credit for scratched case. basicaly he want to charge me more even though he damaged my computure so much. i tried so hard to talk with his boss about this issue. but i couldn't get hold of him. Bradyn Mitchell told me that with 48hours his boss will call me. i accepted his offer to fix my DC jack from another specialist on 10/23. With $100 store credit of scratch damages, the charge will be $200. however his promise didn't make it this time again. he promised me he can fix it within 2 days 10/25. he never called me until after 5 days, neither his boss 10/27. so i called him on 10/28 but he was just saying that his boss will call me tomorrow for sure 100%. and he can't do anything about it he said. not surprisely, no one give me any feedback until 10/29. so i went back on 10/31. he was saying that he can't do anything more with my computer and just giving me back. i paid $40, didn't fix anything, just got alot of dagemes, and stoped my own work over 2 weeks. just got me alot of stress and anger. read more

Long post rant warning ! Never ever take anything to MIT computers in Brandon . I took my working iPad there that had a small crack . So I dropped it off December 1 who said it will take 2 weeks. They had to order part. So when returning 2 weeks later they claimed they were sent a defective part and had to send it all back. I return a week later to find that they said my home button was missing the brackets for the replacement part . They said come back today . I came today still it broken with a new screen but no home button . I told the guy just to give me back my iPad . He told me I needed to pay 70 . I told him that it's not fixed and let's me in the middle for 35. He told me no he then said I could not have my iPad back for 30 more minutes while he removed the screen . While I hear him back there playing in his phone while he made me wait so I could take it to another place . Then a new customer walks in he stops to help them . I told them to run and do not let them fix a thing ! He gives me back my iPad in this condition in pics . I asked him for my home button back and cracked screen he told me to have fun getting it from waste management! he refused to give me my parts and handed me this. I go to ubreakifix they tell me that I need that home button for my Touch ID to work . They said sounds like they ordered a part for iPad Air and they are trying to cover up they lost and broke my home button .. share this post so it impacts their business! This fix was for my child's Xmas gift ! I am heart broken to be treated this way especially since I had been using them for years and spent 800.00 this year in repairs! When my Nana called me to tell me her laptop had crashed, I flew down to Florida for a few days to take care of her. After verifying it really was broken, I drove us over to MIT Computers. I chose this place over others on Yelp based on positive reviews and easy commute. When my Nana and I walked in, we were greeted by John, who took care of us after finishing up with a customer in front of us. He was polite and patient with my Nana's questions, and he took the time to break down the different prices and options for us. I signed her up for the Tech Club membership, which covers all computer repair services for one year. That way, when I'm in Philly and can't be by her side, I know there are trustworthy people who can watch out for her when she needs computer help. Huge relief! We walked out with a replacement laptop (faster than the old one) and a tech club membership for under $500. That was a good price for what we got. The next day, we went back with questions. We had them 'diagnose' our problem, and could not afford to have it 'fixied', so now we are stuck with a computer we cannot even get to TURN ON, which worked just fine when we took it in there. NOT ONLY THAT, this place is TOTALLY uncooperative with help over the phone, the 'tech' is 'not there today' and apparently no one else in the store can help over the phone! BE FOREWARNED this is NOT A REPUTABLE PLACE to deal with!!! They will only 'help' if you bring it back in and PAY THEM to FIX it. I dropped my IPhone. The frame was bent and the screen was shattered. Batteries Plus refused to work on my phone, saying it was impossible, because the frame was bent. I dropped my phone off at MIT and 4 hours and $139 later, my phone was fixed. The employee who fixed my phone was extremely nice and very polite. Worst ever experience. I went for repair of my Lenovo x201 laptop, wifi was not working. They kept my laptops for 2 months and charged $100 and they were not able to solved the issue. When I gave then the laptop they told issue with the motherboard, cost to replace the mother board was same as buying new laptop.I wasted my $100.They are not skilled hardware technician, only know how to format laptops. I went here about a week ago and the manager Frank was beyond rude , I had went a few months prior and was told that to fix my screen it would be 100 but got him to drop it to 90 . I went again about a week ago as I said before and told Frank this and all he did was nod his head no as if I was ignorant and had no idea what I was talking about or as if I was lying when I told him the price the other man gave me . Frank , tried to charge me 149 then said "if you had given me the name MAYBE I would have honored it " so I then left searching for other shops because he was so rude . Very Smart, Helpful staff!!! I took my smashed computer here and signed up for a yearly maintenance for $300/year. The cost of my large HD screen alone would be $225... So I went ahead with the maintenance plan. My computer is working again and I'm very happy with my experience overall. The maintenance plan includes three computers, so that's worth the $300 anyway! So I decided to call him and he tells me the motherboard is bad and could not tell me how much it was going to cost. My husband told him to put the computer back together and it should be in the same condition in which we left it. We pick the computer up and it had been damaged terribly from when he went into the computer cover with a metal object! Chunks were missing from the edges of the computer and stratches were visible. My husband and I confronted Kyle he was very rude and arrogant and said that a professional place would have made the same damage to my computer ! STAY AWAY FROM, they took a week longer then they said it would, but then when the parts came in it would not work they said. So they offered to take my 2013 computer and exchange it for a 2008 one that they could put the hard drive into. They told me that the mother board had went bad, and they could not get the correct one. I chose not to accept their older computer, and took it straight to Apple store, they opened it up there in front of me and everything inside was still unhooked, they hooked everything back up and my computer came up healthy and working to this day. And the Apple store tech did not even charge me anything for doing this, the MIT store charged me 60 dollars for nothing that they did, in which i am filling fraudulent charges against. These guys are nice, and I gave them every chance to contact me and explain how this could happen, and no reply. So i will be contacting the BBB also, you cannot treat customers like this. read more
