Then I met Luis the computer technician he is very up front and straight forward with his answers he offers suggestions and better ways of installing hardware and setup. They also offer computers, laptops and gaming computers for sale as well all in different prices from low end and high end prices. Also they sale computer upgrades for your computer and accessories. My boyfriend ended up getting a virus on his computer. I looked on Yelp to find places near us. I came across this company. So he took his computer in and they were able to fix it the next day. Then I go and pick it up. While I'm there, there was another lady getting advise about her computer. After she left one of the employees was talking about how he didn't understand how the lady could have so much money, yet was complaining about having to fix her computer. The second employee was trying to get him to stop, but he just wasn't catching on. Our computer was fixed just fine, and quick. I would say this is the best computer shop in tampa that I have been to so far. They have many performance components in store ready to be installed, whereas many other stores dont have anything and you have to pretty much order any part. What I liked the best was the professionalism and flexibility to work. I needed to get some parts installed on my computer, but I couldnt wait since I depend on my computer to work daily. I explained this to them and they were able to charge me a rush fee. To my point of view this was excellent because there are people that need to get things done, and can't leave their work computer out of use for a couple of days. I was at Best Buy about to buy a new computer when I looked on Yelp and found this place. Went in and got a slightly used yet better computer for Dell 1/4 of the cost. I wanted a computer that I could do work on yet also do a little gaming if I saw one on Stream. The owner went through three computers with me and looked up which one would be better. I came there for one laptop and ended up buying another secondary one because it was such as good deal. All computers sold come with a 90-day warranty so that made me feel better about the purchase. If my computers crash in the coming weeks, I'll update the review but if I don't assume that my total experience was a 5/5. read more

THANK YOU. Long story short, I was deathly nervous about taking my iMac to a shop, and I needed to feel comfortable with the shop. Every step of the way, they were kind, polite, attentive, responsive, and they got the job done. I had been without my work machine for over a month, due to a tragic accident (it fell on the tile floor and shattered). I bought a new display, but I couldn't get it to fire video. I was going insane. I released it to them, and before I knew it, maybe a week later, it was ready to pick up! They took me back to the work area to set up my preferences (they formatted my new hard drive and installed the OS), and I was out the door with my fully-functional iMac. They even carried it out to my car for me and buckled it up like a baby. I made a deposit/diagnostic fee of $65, which was applied toward my total at the end. Sudden need of a new computer prompted my second visit to South Tampa's Performance Computer Group. The first time was for service for that same computer. I new I was on borrowed time but had not planned on gifting myself with new technology at this time. Fortunately the staff was attentive, knowledgeable, really listened to my likes and dislikes and provided me with valuable input without pressuring me to spend a certain amount of money or purchase a particular product. I could have spent more time researching and running around town checking for better deals but that was not a luxury that was likely or available. I downloaded a voucher for this business from the Yelp site which provided a nice incentive. Within hours the data from my old model was transferred into my sleek new machine, virus protection locked and loaded and it was ready for pick up. There was a slight glitch that made it difficult for me to locate some of the data but a quick return trip to the store right at closing time provided prompt assistance that re-organized files into a more user-firendly format. The staff is pleasant, courteous, computer-savvy and they are close by if - and when - they are needed again. They offered in-store assistance as well as the opportunity for someone to go online and work with me virtually or even to send someone out for a home visit if necessary. What could have been a painful and costly process was thankfully prompt, pleasant and not too pricey. read more

I had my battery replaced in my Samsung Tab S at this location. Project completed, and it was performed at a fair price of $85. I intended to get my tablet back and have the battery life but I anticipated from when it was new or near New. Not so. It was worse than when I brought it in, and I returned with my complaint to discuss having battery replacement that I made replaced once again. Basically I was signed on by the staff, and told they will contact me when the gentleman who does that work, was back in the store location. I waited five weeks now without any single reply from the store. I am just living with the problem and recalling that I did not get what I needed from the store, and will never darken their doorstep again. read more

To be honest, I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews for these guys. All I can think is that the emotion of having a broken computer leads folks to the misunderstanding that computer techs have all the answers to fix it. Unfortunately, sometimes things break and even the smartest IT guys can't bring it back to life. Having said that, I recently took an old Tower in to Brett and Sam to have them do an upgrade. I had purchased all of my own parts but simply don't have the know-how to put it all together in a professional manner. They were very courteous, very specific about the charges, and even offered some cheap used parts for my old tower (having told them I planned to give it to my Dad). I was told that their best (Sam) builder would be in the following day and that they would try to get my new PC on his schedule. By noon the next day I received a phone call, there was a minor issue with the motherboard I'd purchased, it didn't have USB 2.0 slots for the front of the tower I bought and they wanted to get my input on a way forward. They offered to quote me on some simple adapters if I really wanted the functionality, I told them it wasn't necessary and there was no pressure at all from them recommending the purchase. By 430pm they told me that they were at the final steps of the install, and only needed to do some drivers (which would take an hour). Wouldn't you believe it, an hour later they called to let me know to come pickup my computer. I've had it home for an hour now and it is running like a dream. The quality of the install was top notch and the customer service was excellent. The prices were very reasonable (much moreso than MTI computers nearby) Thanks PCG team! I took the computer my son uses for virtual school to get the WIFI card repaired and the computer wiped clean. They fixed those issue, but broke the screen and tried to say I took it to them broken. No one has given me a good reason of how it was broken, but constantly tried to blame me. I was clearly ready and able to pay for the wipe and the WIFI card repair, so if the screen was broken prior to giving it to them. I would have said that too. I got the run around about them contacting the owner to get it resolved and then I was told to contact the owner Brett; WHICH OF COURSE HE NEVER RESPONDED (caps because that is straight BS). So now I have a fixed WIFI card and a broken screen. And they just basically told me to take your computer and leave, but contact Brett. They aren't professional and they have no integrity. read more

PCG is awesome! I took my 2010 MacBook Pro in to have a capacitor checked out and replaced that was causing some graphics failures. They told me that the capacitor could be replaced, but warned that it might not solve the problem. I went ahead and had it replaced anyways. They were very thorough and did a great job, but after all the hard work, the replacement didn't fix the issue. The shop felt bad charging me full price, even though I knew it was a possibility, so they worked the price down for me out of pure kindness. They also have me several options for replacing the motherboard or trading in my MBP for one of theirs. These guys are super trustworthy and have gained a client for as long as I'm in Tampa! polite and personable, they simply couldn't do what I needed. My laptop was almost completely taken over by "DNS unlocker". PCG had been recommended by a friend so I took it there. After the tech making vague warnings about hackers and porn sites(a non-issue) I left it. I was called in a timely manner and told it was ready. It took 2 hours@ $80 per. Nothing had changed. I took it back and the tech stuck something into the port and installed kaspersky for $40. Nothing changed. What fixed it is, after some online search, "malwarbyte' for $40, now it works great read more

I visited their Dale Mabry Hwy Location on 18/2/15 to see about selling two laptops I no longer had a use for. One was an Acer Aspire late model with 3gigs DDR3 ram 500 GB SATA II HD.. The other an older Toshiba Satellite DDR2 and a small 80 gb SATA drive. I dropped them off and was told that a tech would look them over and give me a call after checking them out to see if they was anything of value/use. I will admit that I knew one of them needed screen repair (That was disclosed) , the other was missing 1 or 2 keys. I received a call the following day 19/2/15 at around 1630 hours saying that neither machine had any value what so ever. The person on the phone was quick to offer to "recycle" them , not giving me a dime for any part they may use. I work in this field , I am A+ and N+ Certified and currently studying for my MCSE Cert.So I am fully aware that there is something of value in both. The person on the phone let out an audible sigh when I told them I would just pick them up strip them and sell them myself on Craigslist, it felt like they were trying to get one over on me. I waited till the next day 20/2/15 to pick them up as it was late in the day when they contacted me originally, and I wasn't able to get to them before closing. When I went to retrieve them both, I introduced myself stating my name and went to shake the employes hand. He refused it and tried to give me "Dap" (Fist to fist greeting usually done in the projects/ghettos), I was offended by both the fact that the employe refused my hand shake , and the fact the the employ thought it was more appropriate to do what he did. I would stop short at saying they are racist , I am of African American decent. As I stated above , I'm also educated. With a military background, I'm not sure what their intentions were. If they have distaste for me or people like me (Take that as you will). But I did not feel welcome or treated fairly in an way shape or form. The only reason I gave them Two stars is because on a previous visit many months ago. I purchased a complete N Wireless setup and (Several NICs, Router,etc.) I was both very pleased with the persons working then and the service/products provided. They only brought me one of the two laptops at first, when I asked for the other and showed them the invoice showing I dropped two off. They had to check their own invoice as if I had written it in like I was trying to pull one on them like they had attempted with me. There is a new set of faces and attitudes there now. Performance Computer Group is a perfect example of the importance of locally owned and operated computer stores. While Amazon may have a seemingly endless inventory, and the remaining big box stores may be able to offer you the latest and greatest technology, they will never match the personal experience and expertise you get going to a place like PCG. I was in a bind and PCG went above and beyond what I expected from a computer repair shop. The power supply on my laptop died on me and wouldn't charge. I opened it up and removed the tiny SSD M.2 drive that contained months of pictures and Word documents. I figured I'd go on Amazon, get an adapter so I could hook it up to my new laptop and copy all my original files to the new laptop. However, since you can't really talk to someone at Amazon, and going by user reviews is pretty useless, I ended up getting a cable that wouldn't work with my drive. I went to Best Buy and they told me they didn't have the right adapter either, and if they did they would charge me $80 to transfer the data to a thumb drive. That's where PCG came in and saved the day. Brett Kappes, the owner, must have seen the desperation on my face. He knew exactly what I was trying to do and showed me the cable I needed. Unfortunately, he didn't sell the cable. I offered to rent it from him, but he said he couldn't do that. Then he said something that I wouldn't have expected. "If you want, bring your laptop in, hook up the drive and just get the files you need." I offered to pay him for his time, telling him I have a few months of large picture files on there too, but Brett refused. "Just bring it in and copy what you need. Not a problem." After I picked my daughter up from pre-school, I took Brett up on his offer. In a little under a half hour I had all the files I needed off the old hard drive and Brett and PCG made a life-long fan. This was more than something nice a local business did for a potential customer, this was something a member of a community does to help someone out of a jam. This is not the kind of service you'll get when you need something on Amazon, and it certainly isn't something Best Buy would have done. I will always be grateful for Brett's act of kindness. I took my iMac in for general maintenance, speed issues, virus scan, etc. I was told they would have it ready within 10 days. When I didn't receive a call within this time frame, I contacted PCG and was told they hadn't yet worked on the computer. Finally at the 15 day mark I received a call. The desk person couldn't really tell me what had been done but assured me everything had been taken care of. This was anything but the case...they did absolutely nothing to the computer. I had to have my hard drive replaced under my Dell warranty. Dell shipped the hard drive directly to PCG and they installed it for me. Unfortunately, the incompetent staff here did not return the old hard drive and I lost the remainder of my Dell warranty. I would absolutely never take a computer here to be repaired or have any warranty work done. Now, I have to replace this laptop and am going to be out of pocket $1000.
