I've ordered a couple of powered speaker amp replacements from The Speaker Exchange as well as some powered speaker replacement drivers. Every time, they are, on average, $60-$80 cheaper than everyone else online and I'm surprised at how fast the parts are delivered, in at least 4 instances, next day, even though I paid for regular shipping. I sent my esotar driver and my friends broken B&W diaphragm dome tweeter cover - I requested them back and received them in worst condition than before... also without my original esotar box that had the model number and serial number on the box... also was double boxes just in case. They used styrofoam peanuts and just put them in a box.... And did not receive my original box back. This is unacceptable, I work in the audio industry myself... This is unfortunate. read more

Terrible customer service. Subwoofers sat for weeks with no update. Called speaker exchange and was told the manufacturer hadn't sent them the parts. I called the manufacturer and was told speaker exchange had a massive $10,000+ debt and wouldn't be getting any parts from them anytime soon. I called speaker exchange and they told me to mind my own business. The manufacturer did me a favor and sent the re-cone parts to SE. SE slapped them together and told me to come get them. Got there and the subs were all sorts of jacked up looking. 15 mins of use and both were blown. Called the manufacturer again and they sent me brand new subs out of pity. They said they hear about speaker exchange doing this often. read more

Unfortunately, I have very old speakers and one of the terminals on the back of a speaker broke recently and needed to be replaced. I had no idea that this place even existed until I drove by the other day on Nebraska. I brought my speaker in and because there was a lull in the business day, they were able to find the part I needed and slap it together for me while I waited. I know this doesn't happen in every case and I was very lucky and grateful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I have a pair of Lambda SB10s which were hand made by a former employee of the Speaker Exchange. They were beautiful until their surround died after more than 15 years. Needless to say the employee no longer exists and the current techs have very poor skills. The glue is everywhere and very sloppy. The surround wobbles and is not even round. The tech also scratched and ruined the stickers on the magnet from using clamps in an equally slipshod manner. And I paid almost $200 for this repair. The speakers are now ruined. Maybe I can throw them in the trunk of something, if it's a dark trunk. Maybe they can fix up some smoky guitar amp driver behind a thick fabric, but if you need a precision repair, look elsewhere. The quality of the repairs match that of the decor. Judge for yourself. read more

Brought a sub amp last year and it took them 6 months to inform me that they cannot figure out what's wrong with it, I paid cash they refunded me with a check after telling me the couldn't find my amplifier so I waited almost an hour. Well after a year I found a replacement amp and began to do the swap when I noticed parts were missing, a ceramic capacitor was damaged, wires cut and re-soldered on the wrong side of the circuit board, so I called and whomever answered the phone very rudely, no one has touched this amp but them, I purchased it from amazon new. This place is slow, unprofessional, and scam artists! I asked glen where the missing parts were and he said I ate them and refused to let me record the conversation. read more

I needed a voice coil for a 12" Roland Jazz Chorus speaker with ID of 1.91inches. This MIJ speaker required a non-standard VC size. Gene indicated that they had what I needed, it just wasn't posted on their website. I ordered this voice coil and with further Gene guidance, fixed my speaker. Gene even provided guidance on how to space the voice coil so that it doesn't bottom out. It was my first time replacing a voice coil. I called about a speaker and broken glass component on stereo. I was told they could probably do it, drop it off and they would tell me. They are not open on Saturday when I usually do errands. Drove there on errand day in morning. It was closed till 10 am. I was early. It looked like a rough place with large fence all around, and sort of barbed wire on top. Gate in was closed. I left did another errand called back after 10 am because it was on the creepy side. Could be a good place just bad area or previous crime. Now they told me they don't do glass. Waited weeks to have week day off to do this. Called another place yes they do it. read more

They did a great job on a previous speaker repair for me, so I took the crossovers out of some vintage speakers to them, to have the capacitors all replaced. I found the Speaker Exchange on the internet and I contacted them about my built in KEF wall speakers which had developed distortion over their 15 year life. Based upon their advice I mailed the speakers to their facility (from CT) and received a complete diagnosis and repair recommendation several days later. After we agreed on a solution they sent me an invoice via paypal. Everything went incredibly smoothly and they were mailed back to me very quickly (a couple of days turnaround). They now sound great and I was glad i did not have to completely replace these units as the frames are sheetrocked and plastered in place!
