Update: I am happy to say Mister Softee was a success. I was finally able to get some ice cream. Not only was the server super friendly but he was funny too. "Did I just hear the Mister Softee tune in my neighborhood?" Is what I asked myself tonight at 6:38pm. I ran and opened the app (which btw, I just downloaded yesterday. Yes, I've never had this soft serve before but I just somehow know the tune lol) and sure enough it was the truck! I tell my bf, "get in the car I'm going to get ice cream!! If not, I'm going by myself" (he isn't a sweets person, poor thing). Im glad he came with, though because I totally would have not found the truck by myself. Was it worth the hype? After seeing Mister Softee NorCal blow up on my social media feed lately and as an ice cream fanatic, I just had to try it. I've been following them on Instagram and even entered our address as a request for their future stops/route. They were about 4 miles away from us so we decided to drive over (after locating the truck on the app) to the residential neighborhood it was stopped at (keep in mind the truck moves around and doesn't stay in 1 spot the entire day). I felt like a little kid ready for my turn to order (thankfully there was only 1 person ahead of me). I ordered 2 items: -swirl vanilla/chocolate with rainbow sprinkles in a cup -oreo sundae Unfortunately, this place falls short of my expectations. Mainly because of the portion. I see a lot people posting pictures of these huge mounds of soft serve piled high on a cone or in a cup. However, ours looked pretty small and sad. For the price, I would've expected a larger portion, and for the product to match the menu pictures. As for taste, the soft serve itself was delicious, but even the amount it toppings was a bit lacking. I was so sad, but in denial and want to give this place another try. Best soft serve ice cream ever! You are never too old to have ice cream from an ice cream truck! Mister Softee's ice cream is the softest and most creamiest ice cream I have ever tried. I ordered the Rainbow Sprinkles Vanilla Soft Serve cone and it started melting almost immediately! I had to make sure to eat it quickly or else the whole thing would have been on the ground quickly. The truck has lots of options to try from normal soft serve cones to sundaes, all offered with lots of options for toppings! All of their offerings are posting clearly outside their truck. There was only one person working in the truck and the line was long, but the worker was able to get through the line rather quickly. I booked MrSoftee for a corporate event for 1 hour. Guests arrived late, so they only handed out ice creams for about 30 minutes, which is okay, not their fault. However, in total they served out maybe 20 ice creams. When one of our coworkers went to ask for two ice creams at 12:30 (the end time of their shift) they shut the window and refused to give them ice cream, unless "they wanted to pay $4.99 for each one". It's ridiculous that we paid a little over four hundred dollars for 20 ice creams and she couldn't have some leeway to give us 2 finals ice creams at the final minute for us. Who does that, you just had the easiest pay day of your life and you can't find it in you to give us two ice creams. Never book MrSoftee, this is the worst service I've ever experienced. read more

Not sure why these guys wouldn't have five stars! I've seen them around for a while now but it wasn't until about a month ago that I decided to stop them as they drove by. My kids were excited that it was "actual ice cream" and I was impressed with the toppings variety on their menu. Each one of us have completely different taste so we ordered different things. Mine was the a plain vanilla with chocolate sprinkles, my husband got a root beer float, and the kids got different variations of a sundae. Everything was delicious! Now this is what I call an ice cream truck. Nothing like fresh ice cream instead of your typical "freezer burnt/rock solid" packaged ice cream sold at most ice cream trucks. Mister Softee sells fresh soft serve ice cream sundaes, soda floats, cones, cups, banana boats, and shakes. We love them so much that we dowloaded the Mr Softee app so that we can track their presence in case they are in our Mountain House neighborhood (note: they move around from city to city all over the Norcal area). The app even displays a marker (on a map) of the exact street location they are serving as they move around the neighborhood. Our personal favorites are the chocolate dip & vanilla/chocolate swirl. I was shocked that the driver of the truck in San Francisco Sunset Area was handling cash and serving the ice cream! Had a glove on one hand, which defeats the purpose of sanitary if you are going to handle cash and coins! You are touching the cones, the toppings and cups. I'm surprised this has good reviews because I am disappointed at how unsanitary they are! You are serving to children! California law requires separate staff should handle open high-risk foods, and cash/card readers. Handling money and food with the same gloved hands or without hygiene intervention between these activities can introduce the risk of cross-contamination to foods provided in food service establishments. Did someone say soft serve ice cream!!! This truck reminds me of my childhood. After 2 days of trying to accurately locate it, We finally got him! It was the perfect coolness to the dreadful hot day. So silky and creamy. I ordered the Oreo crumble and they put so much on there you didn't see a speck of the ice cream. It was fully coated in that chocolate heavenly dust. The only thing they need to work on is their app. I wish it would allow you to physically press on the truck location and take you to it. You can see the trucks location but they move quickly. We ended up following it three times and losing it three times because of how fast they move. I wish they would allow you to actually click on the symbol in the app to take you to the exact location. Also, when you download the app be prepared to suffer through constant ice cream truck music. It's cute at first but then annoyingly creepy. This review is for a special event. I reserved Mister Softee for my son's birthday. I didn't want a birthday parade drive by but I didn't want a whole party because...pandemic. I sent an email from the website and heard back within 24 hours. The contracting was easy and we went back and forth with dates. As we got closer, automatic email reminders were sent to me about my event. As my guest list grew, they were readily available to answer my questions and concerns. We got everything on the menu and held off and the banana splits and shakes because those were time consuming and we didn't want too many people in front of our home because of social distancing. Andrew, our server was great! Quick and fast. To be honest, it was our first time trying Mister Softee and the ice cream was delicious. Perfectly soft and airy and the toppings just make it the best. We had a lot of 7 year olds, so finishing it was a little issue, but not for the parents ! The other Andrew, that helped set up the event, was great to work with too. I've been dying to try this I've cream truck, I've heard about so much. The guy was really nice and really fast with serving everyone. On average it's about 5 dollars an ice cream. They have cones, bowls, shakes, and banana splits. I got the cherry dip ice cream cone, I've only ever seen chocolate so when I seen cherry I had to try it. I'm so glad that I made that decision it was delicious. Also I seen someone else order the banana split and it looked amazing!
