Sunday around 2 40 PM at Park Ave and San Jose Ave in Alameda your driver drove right past us even though we were clearly visible made eye contact and waved. We were standing right on the corner and he didn't stop. My daughter was really looking forward to it so that made it even more frustrating. This isn't a one time thing. It was the same driver from a few weeks ago with the same attitude. At this point it's been pretty lackluster with this driver and feels like a pattern. It honestly feels like stops are being ignored rather than missed. We've had great experiences before with another driver who was friendly and actually stopped so this is a noticeable drop off. I also reached out directly and didn't get any response which is just as disappointing as the missed stop. If you have GPS tracking you should review that route around that time because something is clearly off. Right now the reliability just isn't there and it's hard to recommend. read more

I stopped what I was doing, spun around in my chair, and said, "Are you serious?? I've been wanting to try them for a while but the truck is never near me!" He said it was there, that it was parked next to the taco truck that's always on the corner of our block, that he was pretty sure the dude driving it was getting some tacos, but maybe he's still there? I grabbed my coat, scarf, and purse, and ran out without another word. Across the street and down to the end of the block I half-jogged, half-speed-walked, and lo, there dude was, burrito in hand, walking back to his truck which was parked next to the taco truck. Guy was super nice, said hi, and asked if I wanted ice cream. I said yes please, gave the menu a quick perusal, and went with the strawberry sundae ($6.00). He instantly (literally, there was no one else there) served it up. Whole transaction, including getting the sundae, took maybe a minute at most. It was simple and to the point: creamy ice cream, a *ton* of strawberry sauce (too much, actually), and chunks of strawberries. The sauce wasn't too cloyingly sweet, just the right amount. He did put too much sauce in the cup though -- it was threatening to overflow over the sides when he handed it to me, and then did after just a few seconds of holding it, and it dripped all over the front of my coat. Overzealousness with the sauce aside, this was a nice, simple sundae for a decent price and a good way to close out the work day. Apparently they're over here every Tuesday (corner of W Ave 140th and Merced in San Leandro), which is why I've never seen them because I usually work from home on Tuesdays. I may have to work from the office on Tuesdays more often so I can try more of the things on the menu that caught my eye. read more

Mister Softee even has an app so that you can track down their location and find their truck effortlessly. Their truck moves quick and only stops at various locations for roughly 5-10 minutes (a couple blocks between each stop). We got their Vanilla/Chocolate swirl and Rainbow Sprinkle cone. Vanilla/Chocolate swirl: The ice cream itself is SUPER smooth, lightly dense (almost gelato-like) and perfectly sweet. It didn't melt fast, however, the cone I received was broken at the very bottom. Unfortunately I had to finish it quickly as it was constantly melting and dripping down my hand.. Rainbow Sprinkle cone: With a vanilla soft serve base and sprinkles, what more could you ask for! Personally, we do enjoy the rainbow sprinkle beads rather than the longer pieces (as shown in the picture) but it was delicious.
