Once again we decided to pig out at lunch! The place was packed with a loaded parking lot! So we hit the drive thru. Six with everything were ready in minutes and the car still smell like onions hours later. It was worth it! Still the best in town and everything was packed in an attractive box! Plenty of napkins included! Give them a try! read more

Mister Coney - Messy with lots onion - Hot Dogs Near Me - Fort Wayne, Indiana

I decided to give this place a try instead of the other famous coney institution downtown. I was not disappointed. There was a parking lot, which is a lot easier than the other famous Coney dog location. As soon as I entered, we were greeted by the cashier/manager who was super friendly. She ran up and got the water for our table while our waitress came only a few minutes later. The ordering was pretty easy and I was pleasantly surprised to see that there are fries that you can add chili and cheese too. Overall, I found the food to be delicious. I'm still trying to learn the ropes as to what makes a good Coney dog. In the end, I was not disappointed. It was a great easy lunch experience that my family enjoyed. read more

Friendly and efficient service and easy lot parking were a good start. We tried the shakes which were good but not really special. I enjoyed the coney sauce/chili and cheese over fries. Nice cinnamon flavor. The dogs I found ok but could have bigger. I'll go back for the fries on occasion. Cost is reasonable too. read more

I recently stopped by this restaurant to experience their infamous coney dog. I walked in and seated myself and waited to be served. The manager and waitress appeared busy, but not with helping customers, mostly cleaning. I was addressed by the manager, Amber, who shortly took my order. I ordered a coney dog with just chili. She didn't ask if I wanted fries or any side before turning in my order. It might have been nice if she had because, when the hot dog came out, it was the scrawniest hot dog I've ever seen... And I've seen a few! The coney chili tasted fine, but I finished the hot dog and bun in only 5 bites. I wasn't nearly satiated enough, so I ordered a small strawberry shake to help fill me up. It was pretty tasty, though not enough to make up for a disappointing visit. I quickly paid for my meal and left Mister Coney, never to darken their door again. read more

Breakfast is cheap gotta give em that. Was it good? well that's another story. Alot of food for the money, just not Hall's quality, but it is cheap. Didn't like the frozen country fried steak, pancake was ok nothing special. Coffee comes with breakfast platters so they got a few stars for that. The service is sit down style with a super pleasant waitress and the ordering is done from a simple to follow menu. I ordered the Mr. Coney signature dog that comes with diced onion, coney sauce, mustard for $1.95 a piece. I also ordered the cheese French fries that was a small and it was a whole plate of food with lots of cheese! The flavor was pretty decent but lacking a lot of coney sauce. The restaurant has a nostalgic feel but updated look inside. Once I ordered my food it was out within minutes. One soft drink, 2 signature coney dogs and 1 small order of cheese fries was only $9.81! If I lived here I would be a regular for a quick cheap bite to eat. Glad I stopped in! read more

Amazing hotdogs and great chili cheese fries. Best hotdogs in town. Will return again

2 stars... My buddy makes this joint a weekly stop, so I went along for the ride. I ordered "the mess" southern style... hash browns, eggs, sausage, and veggies all cooked together and topped with sausage gravy... served with a pancake. The heap lacked flavor, and the soft hash browns made it all a bit mushy. The gravy had a good flavor, but couldn't overcome the texture issues. Pancake was perfectly cooked and I topped it with butter and the fake syrup at the table... OJ was good with pulp making me believe it was of the non-concentrated variety... Ambiance is old school diner, service was attentive, and price was in line with expectation, but not food quality.. I might be back with my buddy again, but I'll try something else as the mess lived up to its name, but not my expectation... read more

Best dogs! I went there as a kid (starting when they were 10 for a buck) and stop in every time I can drive through Ft Wayne. Absolutely wonderful, great service, terrific fries, and the tenderloins are pretty good too! read more

First time here and I was excited to try it because so many people have told me that it was a great place to eat. They have a good size menu of lunch and breakfast items breakfast can be ordered all day. I decided to go with the country fried steak Which is served with my choice of toast and eggs and hash browns. We also order the fried chicken sandwich with a small order of fries and two coney dogs and chili soup. We went thru the drive thru and our order came out correct. They gave us all the condiments and they took their time. They don't rush you through like other fast food joints. Staff was patient while we decided what to order and even gave us a take out menu. The dinning room is open and staff wears gloves and masks. Very social distance aware. We had lots of cartons and bags for our food. They packaged it perfect and it was all hot when we got home. However the friend chicken sandwich is so thin that you can't taste it amongst the bun. It's more like a small version of pork tenderloin and wasn't good per my daughter. She did love the fries tho. The country fried steak was huge. It was ok. But the gravy made it perfect. The hash browns could have been more crispy like I asked and the sourdough toast was soggy. It was also not Good reheated the next day and I ended throwing it out. Coney dogs tasted just like all the other coney dogs sold In Fort Wayne per my SO and he prob wouldn't order them again. The chili soup was good but boy it was spicy spicy. When I tasted it Which they didn't tell me when I asked a bunch of questions about it. It did not have beans in it and was packed full of small bits of meat and lots of broth. It was tasty but to spicy for me. Cheese was extra. In fact the food comes plain And any extras will cost you. For what we got it was almost $19. Not bad for three people I suppose. I would go here again because I would like to try some sandwiches and their desserts my daughter says! Also she loved the fries which when I tasted them were very hot and super yummy. It they are pricey for an order. A small isn't big enough to share and at over $2 I could have gotten a large at another fast food place That they tasted similar too. All in all it is a tasty treat to go to and I would patron again. I recommend going for sure. I think it's a local joint and not a chain too but I can't say for sure. Happy eating. read more

Skip Mr. Coney and head to Coney Island instead. I have always heard that Mr Coney had the same recipe as Coney Island and the dogs were just as good. They're not. The chili tasted sweeter, which I don't care for. They top the dogs off with shredded cheese so the cheese doesn't melt at all. Kind if reminded me more like Skyline Chili. We also had some "jalapeno" cheese fries that had zero jalapeno to them, but I did like the fact that fries were an option. The service was great, but it took the food quite a while to come out. Coney Island is almost instant. The rest of their food options might be good and maybe I'll go back to try it, but I most definitely won't go back the next time I want a Coney dog! read more

Excellent experience here at Mr. Coney. I had a pork tenderloin sandwich and fries, and it was made to perfection. The service here was friendly, and the restaurant was clean. Best coneys in town. I always get mine with extra sauce so I don't get in trouble with the owner eating them with ketchup. Ha Service is always with a smile. One secrete is they have one of the top breakfast here too. If you're looking for chili like grandma makes. Don't come here. This is the authentic madisonian style food with a kick read more

Wow....first time eating here. My party of 3 ordered a total of one tenderloin which was humongous. Four coney hot dogs, two small bowls of chili and an order of cheese fries. Totaling $19 bucks....very reasonable for the amount of food we ordered. The food was very tasty, hot and fresh. The coney sauce was the best! The waitress was a nice addition to our experience. She was very attentive and checked on us multiple times. I highly recommend you to stop here and eat. read more

A Legendary Ft. Wayne Classic! Mr. Coney has the original recipe that takes us all back to simpler times. The coneys and chili are always the same, perfection! The breaded chicken breast and tenderloin sandwiches are always delicious and the fries are crispy and tasty! It's the only place I know of that has cherry milkshakes (chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry too), and fresh pies everyday. My family LOVES Mr. Coney! read more

The breakfast menu is larger than their regular menu, and you won't find a more delicious and cost effective breakfast in the Fort. It's also locally owned and operated. I've eaten here often because I've been one of their longest (not oldest) customers they've had. I lived in the neighborhood for most of fifty years. The coney dogs are the same that you'd get at the Coney Island restaurant on Main Street in the Fort. In fact, there are pictures of Coney Island on Mister Coney's walls. read more

This place was totally on point. We got the Coney dogs with cheese, a pork tenderloin sandwich and some cheese fries. The dogs were great, especially for the price, but the cheese could have been a little more melted. The PT was good size and was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crisp to it. And the cheese fries? Bomb. Crispy, hot shoestring fries covered in a cheese sauce the could probably make erasers taste good. The service was excellent. Our server, Kayla, was very helpful and attentive. I had a new soda before I even got halfway through the first one and she even came back twice just to make sure everything was good. In all, this place was fantastic and I would definitely recommend it to anyone craving a good old fashioned coney dog. read more

Good coney dogs for the price also has chili and chili cheese fries. But other menu items are limited.

Place looked legit some ole timer flipping dogs on the grill inside, seemed like not much changed since the opening theee line of people to get food in drive thru. All things looked good as I pulled in I passed this place 1000 times growing up and am a fan of coney dogs. Foot looked amazing but just seemed like a plane coney dog nothin amazinf good quality dogs . How is there so much judgement on a coney dog well it's spices and consistency and feel like this lacked in spice and taste would gladly drive 30 min away during summer time for a Spanish dog from bummies in bluffton IN read more

Great service and coney dogs were amazing! They even gave one to my pup. Thanks for the great experience.

Hats off to Mr Coney. They have outlasted seven plus restaurants. Three next door. And four of them on the other side of the street! This is a testament to the quality of food that this restaurant has constantly produced over the years. More so than I think the one that was reviewed by this Sunday's newspaper critic called "on the menu"? Well everybody has heard of "The Moosewood"? The critic correctly pointed out that the buildings "third" occupant in ten years (the current), had done some interior decorating. The location is in a very desirable part on Dupont road, and will insure that rich people who don't want to explore the city will show up. Mostly what I like about this place is the mix of people who go here. People who drive B.M.W.'s Blue collar workers with a sprinkling of bikers. Law enforcement also takes their brakes there. They know the town. Notice how I didn't even have to describe the food they serve? *NOTE* There is another Mister CONY at the same address and ALMOST the same name as I have listed. http://www.yelp.com/biz/mister-coney-fort-wayne-2#hrid:REKZJY1e8vCR7-fpld2rvA read more

I had heard this was similar to Coney Island downtown and since it is closer for me, I tried it out for carryout - I like they have a convenient drive-thru window. I will agree that the coney dogs are similar, but that is about it. The chili was the same consistency, but had way too much cinnamon in it! Didn't taste much like the downtown Coney Island at all. They also don't have hamburgers (which are awesome downtown), but they do have french fries and more food selections than downtown. I don't know if their fries are good, because they forgot to give them to me, and I didn't realize it until I got home with the order. If I am craving a coney dog and don't have time to go downtown, I will probably give this another shot. read more

Okay food, reasonable prices, consistently good service. We eat there at least once a week.

I just had lunch for $5. What? I don't think they have changed prices in 30 years! The coney sauce was a little sweeter than I like but it was still good. The toppings were fresh and the service was great! I love that this is only a block from my Ft Wayne office so when I am in town I have a cheap option for a great lunch. Maybe next time I am in town I will head over early and grab breakfast. Keep up the great work! read more

Very unprofessional. Went there and ordered a large bowl of chili. When I pulled up to the window I could see 4 employees, none of whom were properly wearing face masks (2 had them below their nose, 2 had them below their mouth). While wait for my chili a lady by the window (who had the face mask below her mouth) started bad-mouthing the chili (the thing I just ordered) saying "I can't believe people eat the chili, it's disgusting" and they proceeded to describe how she made chili cheese fries earlier and they tasted like baking soda. read more

I was born in Ft Wayne and we used to go to the downtown coney restaurant, which I majorly love. However, I have never been there as an adult. I don't even remember the name. What I do know is for several years we started going to Mister Coney as it was closer to my grandparents' home. They passed away 10 years ago and I had not been back again - until this weekend. I had told everyone that know I was coming for the past 3 months that I was getting me coney dogs if I did nothing else. Wonderfully yummy. Love how the chile soaks into the bun. Lots of onions. Great service. They are pretty much the same as the ones from downtown. I was not disappointed to tastes this party in my mouth after having been absent for 10 years! read more

Very surprised. The food was not good today and when I went to pay the lady at the register asked how everything was ? I just saw another bad food comment that was recent. Seems like this place has went down hill Try other places and obviously Coney Island is always top notch service and food read more

Hidden Breakfast Gem in Fort Wayne! The breakfast at Mr. Coney offers great choices, affordable prices, and a friendly staff. My all time favorite. We had hot dogs all over the USA and these are still my favorite! Consistent and well priced.
