A standard wiener up at East State Coney. Not the greatest, but not bad either. If you feel like ramming a wiener down your throat this place will get you your fix. If you live close by and want to ram some wieners you could do worse. Pretty standard wieners here I like mine with coney sauce on it. Good for the ramming I say! Average place isn't going to knock you out of the ballpark or get your wiener pointed in the air, but not bad at all. I ate here once. Pretty standard. Place has been here for awhile now so they must be getting them wieners out the door and in your tonsils. Yup I would give them a try when you drive by. It will cure your wiener fix sure enough. Is this the future of Coney shops? The consistency of this place is amazing! An automated system! From the fresh daily delivered buns. To the correctly machine cooked French fries. You can be rest assured of never receiving a poorly prepared,,, anything. The manager was telling me about how the owners are already making a profit. Way before any new (non franchised) business was expected to. This is a testament to the quality that is delivered. Even in this time, when businesses are going under. Several hours after eating here, I was laid low with food poisoning. I can't be absolutely certain East State Coney was the cause, but between the less-than-hot Coney dog and the fact that I didn't eat out anywhere else, I think it's pretty obvious. Had an awesome experience today. Just the atmosphere alone. I was greeted with in seconds of walking into the door. Food was also amazing. Customer service was what I would call top notch. One of the gentlemen came from behind the counter and had a conversation with another customer and I. That right there is what business are lacking in this day and age. We had a few minutes of conversation and my food was ready and handed to me by a younger worker. Thank you for the amazing experience. Some of the older reviews are from the old owners, and my experience was completely different. We were instantly greeted when we walked in, the owners were there and were extremely nice and helpful with everything! The food came out fairly quickly and was great. The owner stopped and had a full conversation with us and was such a nice guy! I'm not that big on hot dogs but I will definitely come back here when I'm in town! read more

East State Coney has been my absolute favorite coney place for years. The food has always been delicious and cheap. After the last few months new ownership has bought it and hired new staff and I don't know how else to say it other than they're just flat out dumb. They have to keep reassuring themselves of what you ordered constantly as if it's too hard to write it down. I ordered Coney cheese fries, no coney sauce. No big deal, I ate it anyways. Tonight I order carry out. While she's talking my phone order she just stops talking to me and cashes somebody out on the other end of the phone without telling me, leaving me to keep asking "what" bcuz I think she's talking to me but she's not, then eventually comes back to take my order. I take my dog to to pick it up expecting it ready and when I walk in she asks if I'm the phone order bcuz there's a new rule that they can't make food until the person gets there bcuz of no shows. So while my dog is baking in the parking lot she starts making my food. I ordered two Coney cheese dogs and specifically asked for the cheese and coney sauce on the side bcuz when getting carry out they get really messy when wrapped up and the wrapping pulls all the sauce off the hotdog. She said no problem they can do that. Another lady comes over and says I'm so sorry I forgot one of your orders of fries. Again, not a huge deal if it wasn't 80 degrees with my dog in my car now I have on wait another 10 minutes for those. Then the other lady comes over and apologizes bcuz she put everything on my coney dogs when I just wanted sauce and cheese. So she proceeds to wrap my coney dogs up again and goes "oh shoot, you wanted the toppings on the side didn't you?" Obviously I just took them i wasn't waiting for a 3rd round of hotdogs. I get home and the damn fries aren't even cooked all the way AND she put all the toppings back on my coney dogs that she remade for that exact reason (mustard, onions, etc)! I ended up up eating one half of a coney cheese dog, throwing one and a half away, throwing my fries away and giving my dog my bratwurst. I've been faithful to this place for years, but it's becoming very difficult to stay patient with these new ppl. I made a Yelp account specifically for this post, that's how frustrated I am with my last two trips. read more

I purchased a discount coupon online and decided to try the place out. Walking in the place was promising. It was very neat and clean in its black and white theme. The lady behind the counter was very pleasant and carried on conversation like I had known her all my life. John busily prepared my order and took part in the dialogue. The visit was looking like a good choice. The fries were cooked perfectly. The fry machine was quite impressive. He boxed up my order of three chili cheese fries and eight Coney's. When I got home the fries were still warm and were very good until they got past being warm. At that point the cheese became too much and I picked the fries out around it. My daughter then asked if anyone else had a gray hotdog. We all stopped and looked and we did. The hotdogs were a greenish gray color that caused them to lose their appeal immediately. They didn't really taste bad, but the coloring was difficult to get past. I can't say I'll never go back, but I can say it won't be my first choice and definitely won't be a destination restaurant. read more

We ordered take out last night. We got six regular coneys with no onion and a large french fry. I even threw in two of the ice cream drumsticks on impulse. The restaurant is clean and has some chairs and tables if you wanted to dine in. The gentleman that served us was very friendly and got our order correct and it was hot and ready to go when I arrived. The coneys had soft bread, a good amount of sauce and were wrapped in wax paper. The fries reminded me of McDonald's - thin, salty, hot and crispy. No complaints at all so I gave it five stars! When we're in the neighborhood this will be our coney place. read more

The best coney dogs around. Better than the gross ones at Fort Wayne coney (who only get business because of hype and small coke bottles). East state actually are great tasting and you don't have to wait an hour to get a bad one. Highly recommended. read more
