However, some…read more16 years later, we were told by a well known refrigeration company that our A/C needed to be replaced with a new one (which was going to cost us about $12k!). This well known company told us the replacement was necessary due to: #1. Our A/C unit was 16 years old and allegedly A/C units don't last that long and #2. it had a leak that neither the technician nor the owner could find. I called Triangle Cooling to get a second opinion. The owner (Antonio) confirmed that there was a leak and he couldn't find it either. However, he told us the fact that he couldn't find the leak irritated him so he and another technician TOOK OUR AC UNIT APART! Did you hear me? They found the leak and fixed it and told us we did NOT need a new unit and that our current unit would easily last another 6 to 7 years! Who is going to be THAT honest?! We also recently had issues with the water getting cold too quick after showers. We called Triangle again. And, one of their technicians recommended a larger capacity hot water heater. I don't know a thing about what to buy or where. So, one of the technicians made recommendations on which ones were the best along with which ones were most affordable. Then, they purchased the one we selected and installed it for substantially less than the quotes we received from other cooling and heating companies. At this point, my wife and I have decided that there's no reason for us to even do business with other a/c companies. Not only have we found Triangle's crew to be super courteous, especially when we asked stupid questions, but, they have been extremely honest. If we could do more than 5 stars, we would!

I called on a Saturday to schedule a service and "Chelsea" answered the phone, she was so professional and kind. Customer Service is not what it used to be, but "Chelsea" showed that their company values its customers. The service tech "Ryan" showed up on time, introduced himself, in a uniform that assured me he was with the company and immediately started working on our AC. Ryan went over in detail what he found that needed repaired, our AC is 33 years old, so we expected there was going to be issues. We scheduled an appointment on the phone with Brandy for a mechanic to come Sat 16 July between 10 and 2, but he never showed. I talked to Kaylee and we rescheduled for the next day, and the mechanic did show up at 1pm. Brandi and Kaylee were very friendly and helpful on the phone, and they both showed care for our discomfort. The mechanic on the other hand... He seemed very arrogant and brusque, then a bit rude as I started questioning him as he was rushing out. Total he was there seven minutes. I know he'd rather be home on Sunday with the family, but that's unprofessional. I have mobile HVAC certification so when I'm being lied to about refrigeration I know it. He told me it was normal for an AC unit to run for 9 hours straight when it's 113°, but it wasn't 113° back in April when i first complained. It was only 100° when he visited. He insisted the ac unit wasn't undersized, even though it can't keep up with the heat load. He also tried to blame the vents being undersized, the refrigerant, the age of the unit, any excuse he could make up, then he took a picture of the thermostat at 75°. The only reason it was that cool is because it was only 1pm and I had my 10k Btu ac unit in the bedroom running since 8 am at full blast. I don't know what kind of deal they have with Denali Real Estate, but I do not like being lied to, then brushed off like I don't matter. Thanks Monster for restoring my faith in humanity.

No thanks. I asked our realtor Fred Foley for his advice and he suggested a small family owned A/C company in Mesa with a clever name. Johnny Cools. The owner came out, evaluated our system, determined 1/2 of the items the other company recommended were unnecessary and said they could do the essentials and save us about 2/3rds. The following week the technician came out, was here about 2 hours and our A/C now works excellently. In addition we also asked for a whole system replacement quote, for the day the AC quits and we had to replace it. John (Where the name Johnny Cools comes from) gave us three quotes. Two were for the whole system replacement (better and best) and the third one was just for the outside unit. As part of the service where the technician replaced many parts in our air handler and he said it was his belief the air handler was sufficiently upgraded (new blower motor and a couple of other parts) that it would work well with a new 14 SEER outside unit with a 10 year parts warranty. The quote was very reasonable. (2018) Today (2019) YELP just reminded me I failed to post my 2018 comments, so in addition to the prior comments Yesterday I asked Johnny Cools to revise the outside unit quote since our system is 14 years old and we are probably on borrowed time. While we have used a couple of the large high visibility AC companies in the past w/o issues but working with a smaller individual owned business has distinct advantages including a very personal business approach. I fully recommend Johnny Cools for all of your A/C needs.
