We stopped by as we were traveling down 84 looking for a quick meal, and it was exactly what we were looking for. The level of service here was truly exceptional. It was pretty near closing time, but the staff took the time to go through the menu with us, and even gave us complimentary blueberry cobbler since we were first time customers. The military memorabilia was so cool, and they gave my dad a military discount to thank him for his service (and we got a prime parking spot reserved for veterans too)! They were pretty good here. The ribs and other meat we got were soft and tender like they described. I wish I had gotten a sauce to try I didn't know it wasn't glazed. The burger was fat and thick but even with all that it was bland. The Mac and cheese was decent however as well. As a person who grew up around a firehouse, the ambiance of the location was comforting and familiar. It was our first time visiting, and given the first impression we were given, we will definitely be back. The food is excellent, the pulled pork having an excellent smoky flavor. The variety of barbecue sauces available were also excellent. The lady giving us our meals (to go) was incredibly enthusiastic about the business and very sweet. She gave us free vouchers for sandwiches since it was our first visit, and a variety of their sauces. The food here is good -- not Austin BBQ good -- but well above the average BBQ you can find in this state. The service was quick and friendly and they have healthy portions too. We enjoyed the pulled pork and the brisket. Fries are worthy of a mention too. Get some fountain soda and admire and salute our first responders and our service men and women too. Just visiting the area for work. Picked up dinner here last night, and extremely enjoyed it! Between the two of us, we tried the brisket, turkey, pulled pork and the jalapeño and cheese sausage. Everything was amazing The sides we had were mac and cheese (delicious and NOT dry!), and the cheesy potatoes (also delicious!). Cornbread was also good. All were flavorful and perfectly cooked. I definitely recommend their Texas tang sauce for the ribs! I first spotted Mission BBQ in PA, and was excited to see locations in CT. My husband and I were very happy with our visit to the Southington restaurant. We received friendly service and couldn't believe that the food we had was so reasonably priced and delicious, all while being served within minutes. We tried the pulled pork, cheddar and jalapeño sausage, brisket, mac and cheese, and fries. Every single item was tasty. I was especially happy to find the mac cheese to be cheesy and not dry. Mac and cheese typically lets me down at many of our local barbecue places, but not at Mission! I've already recommended this place to some friends. I haven't found anything like it in our area. Green beans were also salty. The portions are to small for the price. The whole military theme they got going seems a little to contrived just to stir up business. We got 3 sides as well, baked Mac n cheese, baked beans, and cheesy potatoes. Asked for KC Classic sauce and Smoky Mountain sauce on the side. When I tell you that everything was amazing and mouth-watering I am NOT exaggerating! The brisket was juicy and tasty, the turkey was moist and appetizing, and the pulled pork was the best I have had. The Mac n chz was epic and the cheesy mashed potatoes were just as satisfying. I'm not going to lie, I was on a mission tonight. A food mission. To a place we had never eaten dinner before. And Mission BBQ popped up in my Yelp feed and I saw BBQ and said yup, that's what we are having for dinner. We arrived just before the dinner rush and omgosh are we happy we got there when we did. My husband is a fireman so without question we both got the special american heroes cups. $2 from every purchase of these goes to non-profits and you can bring it back in for $0.99 refills. They also have a rewards program for police, fire, first responders, and service men/women. The inside is covered with patches, stickers, and memorabilia and is totally awesome to see. Ok so any place that has a Play Like A Champion Today sign is awesome in my book (go Irish). But I digress. The bathroom was one of the most clean and well decorated I've ever seen, with WWI photos on the walls. Everywhere you look in the whole place there's something different and inspirational. Finally. My food review. Um.......I'll be back. The brisket and pulled pork were perfection and I'm now obsessed with their Smoky Mountain bbq and I need to for sure have more of it in my life. I tried all 6 sauces and it was by far my fave. The cornbread is pretty good, but I brought it home so I could have it with butter. Mission BBQ has a theme and it sticks to 100%. Its all about those who have served in Armed Forces or are currently active. I had the joy of having my first visit on Veterans Day (oddly enough). The decor is all Armed Force themed with jerseys from their sports teams. Attire worn by those who serve and the decor that makes you feel very Patriotic. They sold these special cups for $2 more that allowed you to donate to the cause. That was awesome. They also have collection boxes near the condiments that ask for supplies needed for soldiers who are actively serving. This is so great to see and it really gives me that warm feeling inside to see such caring from a company. Then there is the food. Good old fashion BBQ with some pretty delicious Mac N Cheese that I think had little bits of bacon in it. My wife and I both got the Pulled Pork sandwich. They were very delicious and each table has an assortment of sauces to put on your Pulled Pork to make it the way you want. So this really leaves the experience and taste up to you which is alwayd good. I do wish that they used a different bun for the sandwich. Maybe something with less thickness or a harder bread. The buns we had fell apart as we ate them before we were half way through the meal. I love a good story about some amazing food with A1 Customer Service and that is exactly what we have going on over here Family! Mission BBQ in Southington, CT is definitely a nice looking, classy restaurant on the outside and that is mostly because of the design but they also just opened not too long ago. The walls full of veteran memorabilia and you can tell whomever owns Mission BBQ is all about the history of the great ones along with current and future Men & Women providing their services. I placed my order and was on my way all within 15 minutes. Upon sitting down, there was a holder with 6 different types of sauces ranging from sweet and savory to spicy but I am here to get at this food direct, with no sauces included. I took a bite of my baked beans and brisket and can we say, savory indeed? The hickory flare was enough to add ultra pop to my tastebuds. The level of soft bean enjoyment without the sauce being mushy, made me a happy camper. Beans with the smokey outback flavor of a great family cookout but inside of a BBQ location is all I need for my side to provide. However, I am here for the ribs and MISSION BBQ did not disappoint. The bones for these ribs ran away! Do you hear what I am telling you? These bones had nothing to hold onto, that could possibly keep them in place for the meat was so tender. I simply looked at a rib and the bone quivered in fear and just fell out on its own after apologizing for even being there. I hit that rib meat and an explosion of flavor slapped me in my face and didn't even ask my name! Seared up loving and a bite of delight that had me not acting right!!
