I ordered a Mild Hot Sando, Crinkle Cut fries and an orange soda. Same high quality food I'm used to. A meaty Nashville chicken sandwich with, medium crispy and well seasoned breading. My visit was very good. First time customer. I downloaded the app and they gave me a sign up bonus of $5 off. But even without that, the prices are pretty reasonable. I just got the classic combo that came with fries and a drink. The sandwich was very good, and so huge the edges hung over the bun. I have a pretty high tolerance for spice, but still I ordered mine mild. I'm very glad I did because it was still pretty spicy. I wouldn't have wanted it any spicier than that. The fries were decent, but the ranch sauce made up for what the fries lacked. The portion on the fries was also huge. Overall, it was good. I would definitely come back. I just went with the tenders for my first visit. I decided to go with 'mild.' And the tears are streaming down my face. I usually like a little tabasco sauce with my food to give you context. Birdcode has good chicken, the sauce was the best part but even the "mild" is pretty spicy, so beware! The space felt a little sterile, they seemed slightly under-staffed, the single guy at the register looked a bit flustered, and they were even out of forks. It's clear Birdcode has done their homework. Their spice mix is almost perfect...tangy, hot and flavorful. Cook on the chicken, almost perfect...tender, juicy on the inside...crispy with a light coating of tasty seasoning on the outside. Folks, this is "Damn Good Chicken"!!! For a side dish, had the Cole Slaw. Cabbage was fresh and had a good crunch but to be honest, the seasoning lacked zing. "Bird" I recommend you check out "Marie's Cole Slaw Dressing" and reengineer your slaw dressing after Marie's. Chicken as tasty as your's deserves a worthy partner on the plate. Unsweetened Tea was strong and tasty and slice of bread under the chicken was nice, but not needed. The chicken stands on its own!!! So, in summary. If you are all about Great Tasting, Fried, Hot/Spicy Chicken. You deserve a visit to Birdcode. There are many different restaurants around here, that serve Chicken Tenders. One of my favorite go-to restaurants. Fast friendly service. Super crunchy fried chicken. I like The Sando. Simple but tasty. Love that they have local brands like Hosimer Soda and local dairy milkshakes. The point system they use is great too. Have easy gotten over $30 in rewards by now. But I go a lot haha. We had heard great things, and we definitely thought they lived up to the hype. While their hottest level couldn't break Colten's spice tolerance (and the mild was borderline taking me out, but in a good way), we both agreed that BIRDCODE had the most flavorful chicken out of the similar spots we've been to. Let me explain first that I grew up on a chicken and cattle farm in Alabama. So, I know a thing or two about Southern fried chicken, as well as the way it is served and/or presented. I've made two visits to Birdcode and both were disappointing to the point of the food being awful. The second visit we could not even eat it, despite the staff re-making the meal under the guise of good service. Frankly, I just wanted my money back. Even the "mild" chicken was too hot. The one without sauce on it was flavorless. The so-called "crispy" chicken is made limp by dousing it in a ridiculously hot (spicy) liquid. The tenders are stacked upon un-toasted white bread. It's the equivalent of Wonder Bread, if you can believe it. Never have I seen fried chicken served this way. And reminder: I lived in Alabama for about 40 years and have traveled all over the Southeast. Tenders served on Texas toast sure, but not a Wonder Bread equivalent. Oh, and don't ask for salt or pepper, they don't have any. The gelatinous mac and cheese desperately needed salt and pepper. But, I guess the business thinks its food is perfectly seasoned. It is so not. The one thing that I can say that complimentary about the business is the ambiance is pleasant . Unfortunately, you can't eat ambiance. I'm noticing that this franchise (chain?) is getting good reviews. I don't know why. Maybe this food is what New Englanders think Southern fried chicken is. It isn't. read more
