Everything was wonderful including the friendly service we got from Cameron! He was an awesome representative of the chain; really knew the menu and was friendly too. We were dining outside with a dog and he offered to deliver our food. My sister in law and I had the Spent Bowl Greens, mine had double chicken (extra $4 to meet my macros). These salads were a lot bigger than they looked and extremely full of different flavors; the fried brussel sprouts and salad dressing (which we were thrilled was served on the side) were the highlights. My brother ordered the Pork Belly Buster burrito at Cameron's suggestion. He thought it was outstanding. Add 3 waters and the total for 3 lunches was $51.50 before tax and tip. The co-Ed bathroom did required some wiping up which was a bit disappointing, but the rest of the room was adequately clean. The outdoor seating was wonderful. Since my last 2 Star review based upon EPG's multiple failures to include the special dressings that come with bowls, we have ordered takeout two additional times because my wife continues to be a fan of the food. The first time, they remembered the dressing. This week, they forgot again. So scorecard . . . 3 out of the last 5 times we've ordered from the Newington EPG, they have forgotten the special dressings. Their 40 percent success rate with a 5 chance sample size should help illustrate for EPG that they have process issues that need to be fixed. Still 2 Stars. My friend yesterday called in orders for us at El Pollo Guapo. We were in Newington where El Pollo Guapo is located. Shortly after she placed the orders, I drove to pick them up. The inside is small and clean, with a few high tops for dining inside. Our order was marked with my friend's name. I took it and walked out. This does feel like I could potentially get arrested for larceny. It was the only bag on display and it had the correct name on it. The bag was warm and was a nice size. I couldn't wait to dig in. I got the Almost Legal bowl and my friend got the Dazed and Confused bowl. The two bowls are very similar. Mine had a pleasant kick from the Sriracha Aloi and the Spicy Slaw. There was a nice chunk of white meat of off the rotisserie chicken. It was topped with grilled corn, avocado, plantains, and pickled onions. My friend's had brussel sprouts and seared mushrooms added. This was very tasty. It was flavorful, nutritious and so colorful! I would stop by El Pollo Guapo again! read more

What do I love very much? Rotisserie chicken. I love it from that big warehouse chain store, I love it from a sleek market in West Hartford, I love it from a place a few doors down from this new location of EPG and now I have yet another chicken choice in the area and it's SOLID. I've only been to EPG once, in the (now) old Wethersfield location but I've been lucky to have gone to some parties which they catered and, damn their food is good. They are now in my delivery-radius so my wife and I ordered a bowl (for her) and half chicken for me. Both orders were crazy delicious. I had the chicken fat potatoes and brussels as my sides. This place is incredible. I came here with my very picky 7 year old. She gave the chicken and the fries and cookie RAVE reviews. For me, i had a dazed and confused bowl that was just filled with joy. I love this place!! The food is delicious and full of flavor. Favorite thing to order would be the Arroz Con Pollo Bowl - full of delicious mouth watering flavor and the plantains are so freaking good. The street corn is amazing! The apple empanada is so freaking good- you can tell it's home made with real Granny Smith apples! Honestly anything off the menu I'm sure will be amazing, can't go wrong ordering from here! Someone should smack me! How have I lived miles away and never eaten here? Shame on me. I'm rarely inspired to write a review after only one experience and one meal, but they've done it! I ordered from UberEats this afternoon and delivery was longer than expected (I paid to get it quicker, I was working and needed to eat before heading to the gym) but I don't blame the restaurant for that. The point is, when it finally arrived it was still perfect and delicious and amazing! The order was right (no pickled onions) which I've been having issues with for delivery and takeout lately, but my Dazed and Confused bowl was just delectable! Everything was fresh and tasty and seasoned well, nothing boring or bland about this bowl at all! I was wishing for a little more rotisserie chicken, but then when I remembered the price the entire bowl was actually a great portion for only $14! With juicy chicken, crispy brussels sprouts, grilled corn, caramelized onions, seared mushrooms, queso fresco and some kind of sauce, it was like magic in my mouth. Or a party, a party in my mouth. I ate about 3/4 of it so that I wasn't too stuffed for the gym, then came home and microwaved the rest and it was still amazing! That's when I knew I had to do this review! Oh, I also ordered it gluten free for no up-charge (not sure what had to be changed). I can't wait to try one of the salad/green bowls next! I also ordered a child's cheese quesadilla meal with rice, and heard it was also good and a good size for a kid's meal. My kid is too old to get full on a kid's meal, but as a vegetarian this was just a quick and easy thing to throw on the order since the vegetarian quesadilla has Brussels in it, which is not high on the list of veggies to eat. I'm torn on how to rate this spot so I'll break it down... Location: 5/5 super easy access on Berlin turnpike Inside: 4/5 small but cute. Arrived at 11:30 on a Tuesday. We were the only ones eating inside so felt covid comfortable but not sure we would if there were more people. Most were doing take out / delivery pick up. Music: 0/5 so loud my dad had to shout at me to ask questions about the menu... not even kidding. It was crazy loud. My dad wanted to leave but told him I would ask for it to be turned down, which they did, but not much, still too loud for such a small space. I'm trying to convince him and his friends to support local and come here instead of Boston market so the music factor was not helping. Food: 4/5 great mostly. The bahn mi special taco was huge and killer flavor. The roasted corn side was awesome. Not too different from street corn but off the cob and no cheese. Great flavor! The rotisserie chicken meal was great and a ton of food for $10. The 1/4 light came with a side and rice. Took the chicken fat potatoes and they were pretty good but oily and subtle flavor. Today I went super simple for lunch and got the buff chick bowl, and as per usual it didn't disappoint. Lettuce, giant chunks of fresh pulled rotisserie chicken with hot sauce, plantains, roasted corn, picked onion, fresh guacamole and queso. Toss on the Sriracha balsamic vinaigrette dressing and it's an explosion of deliciousness in your mouth! I've done dinner here too, as mentioned above. Typically I grab a delicious, plump, juicy and flavorful rotisserie chicken dinner (full bird), with 3 family sized sides. All their sauces are Devine, so ask for more than one! My favorite sides are the chicken fat potatoes, the crispy Brussels, and the roasted corn, but there hasn't been a side I have tried and haven't loved! Come for lunch or dinner, it doesn't matter. Get out of the way moes and chipotle. This is 100 times better. Their queso is what chipotle tried and failed to do with their queso. This queso has the consistency it is supposed to have and the cheesy flavor chipotle can't do. And it's not like the vat of queso from moes. Their tacos are huge and filled with so much. Update to my last review below: I have been a customer since it first opened and have visited all three locations. I have never had any issue with the Glastonbury or Hartford locations but have gotten a hair in my phat whap on my first visit to the Wethersfield location. Six months later in Wethersfield I almost swallowed a bone in a wrap. And last night another bone in my buff chick salad. This is unacceptable. Their response when I brought it to their attention? I was told "it is what it is" and "it was a busy Friday night" as an excuse. In their defense they did backpedal and offer an apology in subsequent correspondence but when the same customer gets hair and two bones in their food the three times they visit a location they should take the concerns seriously. I did mention to them I ordered a taco for my son and children also eat their food and the sizes of those bones could have caused serious issues if a child injected them. My family will not be returning. If you eat there check you food carefully! read more

I am so glad that this place is less than a mile from where i live and i have always been a fan of their food via Mercado food truck. The way i'd describe or visualize their food is like small pockets of flavor that bursts in your mouth, be it the tacos or the empanadas or the bowl of salad or arroz con pollo - all of it comes with the distinct flavors. As the name of the restaurant goes, the menu is pretty much all chicken based with options good enough to not confuse you. The rotisserie chicken is the star of their dishes. The salad bowls are my favorite from here. I have also had the Arroz con Pollo, this is a very filling bowl to have on your own. Chicken fat potatoes, Plantains and Empanadas are good as well.
