A beautiful truck to match the food
Jabir H.

I judge a Spanish food spot base on thier empanadas and this place sets the bar high! We got the beef empanadas and they are packed full of flavor. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Just made to perfection!

Weather was perfect and there was plenty of space for us; they told me that Thursday lunchtime was the best for a group. Most of us sat at one of the round booths with two eating outside. Most purchased their lunches from Small State Provisions with the Jambon Beurre the most ordered. Others inside had the Salmon Toast or Spicy Roast Beef. Outsiders ordered from Twin Beaks and had the Caesar Salad Fried Chicken Wrap. Everyone enjoyed what they had and all commented on the size of offerings and great price level. Cafē Pausa served most drink orders. They were amazed at the service and truly astounded that there was free water! Many commented they when they had family visitors at the retirement community they would ask to be taken there for lunch again. A very successful day which will be put on our schedule to come back as a group in some months to come. They all felt very welcome which is not always the reaction to a group of elders coming for a lunch date. PS: I brought back a chocolate chip cookie again as they are delectable and also got a Charcuterie Box to go which will be my meal tomorrow.

We got two Il Paesano sandwiches with Prosciutto, mozzarella, mayonnaise, arugula, balsamic glaze on ciabatta roll. The sandwhiches were well filled and you can tell the mozzarella was just made. I recently visited GastroPark at Friday lunchtime, and a cute little green trailer with a…read morered-stamped famous Italian boot caught my eye. It was the Calabria Mia ("CM") Truck, which I've previously noticed on GastroPark schedule. At least when I visited, they were serving sandwiches ranging from $7.95 to $9.95. I ordered the $9.95 "Lo Speciale" with Salame, tomato sauce, mozzarella and spicy Calabrian peppers. I'm not sure if the sandwich is called "Lo Speciale" or that just means it was "The Special". In any event, it was on a 4 inch-ish by 4 inch-ish artisan style roll. I liked my sandwich. Each component seemed very high quality, and the flavors and amounts were well balanced. The Calabrian peppers packed manageable heat. I'm not sure everybody is going to see CM's sandwiches like I did. Many people are used to CT Style Giant Grinders with many levels of meats, toppings and condiments in a huge grinder roll for around $10. CM's sandwich had thin, but impactful, layers of each ingredient. Some people will see the CM sandwich, at $9.95, and note that it's maybe 1/8th of "the stuff" of a Giant Grinder. Mind you, CM is not going for that. They care more about the quality of the ingredients. I'm sure after reading this paragraph, you already know how you're going to feel about Calabria Mia. They have my recommendation, but they won't be for everyone. 4 Stars

He's incredibly passionate about what he does, and it comes across in every aspect of New England Coffee. From the atmosphere and comfortable space, to the extremely friendly customer service from either himself, Gavin or any of the others (whose names I have yet to memorize), to the delicious drinks. They recently relocated their primary cafe to Factory Square in Southington, and I have been twice since the reopening. They are back as good, if not better, than ever. For me, the way to go is any of their house made syrups. They change seasonally and utilize fresh and mostly local ingredients. For example, their vanilla plum syrup is here as long as it is plum season and they can source local plums that meet their standards. That is what I had in my most recent latte, with their brown sugar cold foam on top. The flavor was mild, but definitely present and very tasty. The cold foams are always a highlight. Terrific consistency. A bit frothy while still have plenty of body, and the flavors always come through. I also really loved their take on a pumpkin spice latte. Super deep and developed pumpkin flavor. Just enough warm spices that aren't the slightest bit bitter. The same brown sugar cold foam. That was exceptional. Any berry syrups are always delicious. Both the peanut butter and toasted marshmallow cold foams over the summer were super yummy and standouts as well. I order a cold brew almost as often as a latte. I've only ever ordered an iced drink. I do normally order larger drinks, so my only wish is that they offered larger sizes than 16 oz, but that's just me personally, and not even a critique. Stellar business, and one you just want to root for. Easy to love. Amazing team. A must try.

They have plenty of seating, some upholstered furniture and we saw a few Friday morning telecommuters working on their laptops and sipping their coffees. Our order was a Chai Latte and a Cold Brew - each was $5. The pours were very large, and I swear that my cold brew was the very best I've ever had. I love coffee, drinking it hot or cold, and what I had here is in my all-time Top Five Percent. It was that good. I had a sip of my wife's Chai Latte and thought it was excellent as well. What really impressed me were the flavors of both drinks- not overpowering, but strong enough to appreciate them. The Coffee Guy has it all - specialty coffees, matcha, chai, espresso drinks, and pastries and sweet treats to pair with your coffee cup. We couldn't resist grabbing a few on our way out, and we took home a box with a Spinach croissant, iced blueberry scone, and a cruffin (croissant/muffin hybrid). We loved our visit to the Coffee Guy, and I was so impressed by the total experience, I just subscribed to their newsletter. So the next time we're looking for a midday break or afternoon pick-me-up..... I know a guy!

Despite the fifteen minute car ride, it was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. I've spent the next few days literally seeing this taco in my dreams. We drove from New Britain to Bristol to get another but unfortunately they were rained out and the event was cancelled. Tried again today and made a special 45 minute trip! with a five year old in the car! because this taco is truly so so so good! and I even brought my parents!! and luckily we found Paki Taco and were able to order. Dear Reader/Eater, it was worth the wait. It was worth the drive(s), the cranky five year old, and it absolutely lived up to expectations. Next time I'm trying the birria. Yum. Sadly, I forgot to take a photo of the taco in my eagerness to actually consume it, but please believe it looked as delicious as it tasted.
