Pulled chicken potato salad and amazing cornbread
Saira K.

Excellent service here. I felt very welcome. It smelled nicer inside. I had never been to a Mission BBQ before. The woman taking my order took the time to explain the menu. There was no wait. The food was hot. You could watch them preparing the food. The cornbread was really good. There's a selection of 6 sauces, some where spicy. The service was excellent.Chris walked around and kept asking everyone how they were enjoying their meal.

Black plate special; baked potato with brisket. Comes with bacon bites, cheddar cheese and sour cream. Side of cornbread.

Cashier wasn't as friendly as one would expect with a customer service job. There was plenty of tables available to sit and eat . Clean tables; clean bathroom. Food was served in a reasonable time. Hot, delicious, full of flavor. The $14 black plate special is a little pricey for a baked potatoes with brisket but I ate half and had the rest for dinner. Not a bad lunch. I'd try this place again.

Pulled pork NC style

I lived in the south for a few years and got to try tons of great BBQ. This BBQ, even though it's fast food, is delicious and stacks up to others I've tasted. The service is on point and, as a veteran, I really enjoy seeing pictures on the walls of my brothers and sisters in arms. PRO TIPS: - Ask for the white sauce - Get the pulled pork NC style (this is when coleslaw is added on the sandwich. Not exclusive to NC, but that's how Mission calls it)

Most disappointing brisket I've ever had. $15 for a half pound of brisket but they weight it with the container so you lose about half an ounce. The only side is a 2 inch square of dry cornbread. It smells like spam and tastes like old beef. Clearly the mission is to rip people off. Anyone who says this is good has never had good BBQ.

What is there not to love about Mission!! ....except maybe the price point, but hey, they are on track with the market. Exceptional food cooked to perfection - comfortable atmosphere that is clean - and a staff that is AMAZING!!

Just opened recently, I tried 3 the briskett, pulled pork, sausage (not hot), baked beans, and French fries. Friendly staff.

Just opened recently. At lunch we tried the pulled pork, briskett, sausage (not hot), french fries, and baked beans on a platter. The food came out fresh, hot and juicy. Six sauces to choose from plus vinegar on you table. Lemonade, unsweetened or sweet tea by soda fountain. Friendly staff, clean open seating area restaurant. Busy, at mealtimes so get there before the rush. Busperson extremely feindly and helpful. Go check it out.

The BBQ Barn - Opened Whoopie Pie - a little messy but good

The BBQ Barn

On our way back from a trip to NC and up to MA, we decided to stop in Lancaster for some lunch and…read moreshopping. My husband and I looked for the best BBQ places in the area and landed on The BBQ Barn. A small and cute little barn sits in the corner of the plaza (on the right of Target). We ordered chicken and rib dinners with an extra pulled pork sandwich (we ordered way too much but needed to try it all!!). Dinner plates come with Cole slaw, a dinner roll, potatoes, and a whoopie pie. There is seating outside. We both agreed that the chicken may have been the best we have ever had. It was seasoned so well and perfectly cooked. The ribs came with bbq sauce on the side. There was a line, but service was quick and efficient. The grills are right in front and you can see the cooking happening! Inside the barn, I could see them rolling out fresh pretzels. They also had homemade root beer, which was very good! After we finished eating, I couldn't help but grab a vanilla ice cream cone to share with my dogs. They agree too, best soft serve ice cream we have ever had. Since getting home, we have already talked about how we need to plan a trip back to Lancaster to get more BBQ and explore the area a bit longer.

Drive to the Target just west of the American Music Theatre and head to the far east side of the Target, driving back around the side of the building and the restaurant will be on your right. Watch for small signs directing you to the BBQ Barn. Review: Very good pulled pork sandwiches with lots of meat for a very reasonable price. Full meal is a great deal that includes three small grilled red potatoes, a small coleslaw, roll, whoopie pie, and drink for $12.50-$14.00 depending on your meat and beverage choice. They sell "homemade" root beer that I tried and it was good and tasted like the original drove in A&W root beer except it lacked carbonation. We had a sandwich plus one full meal for about $20 and left a small tip. Note that this is a casual place with outdoor seating only, similar to a food truck. Thankfully the picnic table seating is mostly in the shade. I do recommend this place for a quick lunch or dinner and noticed local Amish eating there while we had lunch. today.

Their specials are all revolving around the Masters which was unique! We tried the Pimento, Fried Green Tomato, Chicken Sandwich (The Pimento Birdie). This was a delicious sandwich that just screams Georgia! We also tried the Madfather Chicken Sandwich! Pesto, Vodka Sauce, Mozzarella, this thing was outstanding! The fries are always a highlight here! We got the bucket (had a bigger group) and it came with 3 sauces. 1 tiny little knock on the fry bucket....the entire bucket was not filled with fries. The bottom of the fry bucket had about an inch or 2 of crinkled up paper..... All of the food was outstanding. The beer was good. Tons of space and seating. Very easy ordering process. Go up to the counter, tell them your table number, and your food arrives shortly! Prices are high here! Expect a larger number on your check if consuming both food and alcohol!

The entire space has a very elevated and contemporary feel while still being welcoming and relaxed. One of my favorite things was the variety of food options. You can go from Moroccan cuisine to Jamaican food, Asian dishes, German pretzels, coffee, and so much more all in one place. It's perfect if you're with a group or family because everyone can find something different without compromising on quality. This visit, I tried food from the Moroccan stand, and it was fresh, flavorful, and definitely something I would order again. The staff throughout the market were friendly, and despite how popular the space seems, there were no overwhelming lines during my visit. The layout is also really well done. There's both upstairs and downstairs seating with plenty of areas to sit comfortably. It never felt overcrowded or overly loud, which made the experience more enjoyable. The space is bright, open, and very clean. You can also tell they host events or DJs on certain days because the setup feels lively without being chaotic. When you first walk in, there are two restaurants near the entrance, including one recognizable spot on the left, which makes the market feel polished right away. There's also a coffee shop inside, making it easy to stay awhile, whether you're grabbing a quick bite or meeting friends. A detail I always appreciate: the bathrooms were easy to find, clean, and well-maintained with plenty of stalls. They're located further inside near the noodle area and additional seating section, and I didn't have to search around for them. The only thing to plan ahead for is parking. Like most places in downtown Lancaster, parking can be tricky depending on the day and time. I'd recommend using a nearby parking garage and walking over. Overall, this was a really enjoyable experience, and I would absolutely come back again and again to try more vendors.

Also, don't be deceived if the food doesn't look super "picture perfect" online or in photos (or at least my photos lol). It may not be the most photogenic food, but it's sooo worth it! I actually ordered almost everything on the menu because I had no idea when I'd be back in Lancaster again . My favorite was the fried rice with chicken and plantains, so flavorful and satisfying! My husband's favorite was the Lomo Saltado Bowl and Pernil Arepa. We also loved the yuca fries, which were perfectly crispy without being overly greasy.
