I'll start with what I enjoyed. I did like the seating arrgements and the tables. You get to face the fire which is cooking the food and is a cool experience the first time. You do get a good var There's a good variety of meats to choose from. The spicy chicken was very tasty and had a solid kick to it, not over the top, but definitely enough to get your tongue going. The service was great too. There's almost always someone nearby ready to bring more rice or whatever you need. With that said, I can't say I fully enjoyed my visit. After the first round of cooking your meat and the initial excitement wears off, you're basically left sitting over a fire that starts to burn your eyes while you're trying to eat. The plates are also pretty small, so fitting more than two pieces of meat at a time is a struggle. Another thing that threw me off was the sauces already being on the table uncovered when we sat down. It's hard to enjoy them when you don't know how long they've been sitting there. And yeah, while the service was great, it almost felt a bit too attentive. There was always someone watching us eat, which can be a little uncomfortable. Overall, it's a cool spot to try at least once if you've never been to this type of restaurant, but with all due respect, I don't see myself coming back. read more

I am generally favorable of balanced flavors. The interior is very American esque. Lots of memorabilia on American culture. I like how they have moist toilettes and lots of rolled towels to clean your hands because it can get messy. The location is good because it is close to a lot of places. The baby back ribs were incredibly tender, literally falling off the bone, the texture is amazing although the taste is a bit on the saltier side. Lots of great sides to choose from, we liked both the slaw and the mac and cheese. The selection of BBQ sauces is pretty amazing, they have every style from Mississippi to Texas. I went to Mission BBQ because I had been craving BBQ for some reason. I'm not a fan of chain restaurants when it comes to BBQ but figured I'd give it a try. We walked in looking at the menu and the cashier Tony saw how wide eyed we were. He came from behind the counter and explained everything on the menu. By the time he was done we knew exactly what we wanted. We ordered the pull pork S and which, fries and baked beans with two ribs, sweet potato pie, 2 meats, coleslaw, mac and cheese and corn bread. My husband is a picky eater and was pleased by the flavor and options of BBQ sauce. The pulled pork sandwich had enough meat for two. The beans were flavorful and the fries were cooked and fresh. I am a fan of good fries. I will be back just to order fries for sure. There was a young lady (but I call her ma'am) who assisted with anything we needed once we sat down and I was moving a little slow due to previous week surgery and she was helpful in getting me what I needed so I didn't have to move around. M is for Mission BBQ: I love Mission BBQ, had been to this location a couple of times, and various other locations including Columbia, Laurel, etc. I was feeling depressed in January 2022 about something, and this was great comfort food. After walking out of Mezeh across the driveway on Saturday, August 27, I conveniently walked to Mission BBQ. See my 2-star review of Mezeh Germantown. The cashier & person who brings out the food here are friendly. Since losing weight since June, Mission BBQ doesn't follow that well with my diet, but it's not the worst for my diet either. So, after my negative experience with the Mezeh, I just went with Mission knowing it'd be great. I ordered the Lean brisket instead of the mix or fatty brisket. I still indulged on the mac n' cheese because their mac is excellent and by far my favorite side there. The brisket is delicious along with the mac n' cheese. There are a variety of 6 kinds of BBQ sauce, so you try each of them. They even have a Maryland BBQ!! It's not my favorite, but it's decent. I think my two favorites are Texas & West Virginia. As far as great BBQ in MD, that's a weakness for the state. However, Mission BBQ is great, solid BBQ place. It's the 2nd best BBQ I've had in MD. The best one in the Halethorpe area in Baltimore County. The atmosphere is comfortable in there. Well lit to see your food. Western style booths & decor. Additionally, lots of various Knick-knacks often supporting our military, fire fighters, police, etc. Supporting our first responders & military is their Mission statement ie give free sandwich or even meal on 9/11 for first responders, etc. Also, country music in the background, but it's not blaring either. Additionally, their sweet tea fresh, brewed & excellent. I didn't get in August since I'm dieting and sweet tea is very unhealthy with all the sugar. But having their sweet tea every once in a while is rewarding, but every day would be excessive. Also, the restroom was clean. The wide metal urinal is interesting. If someone's aim is so bad and miss that wide urinal, he is utterly hopeless. But as I said clean restroom, and that is most important thing. In summary, excellent food, great atmosphere, supports troops/first responders, and friendly staff. read more

I remain very impressed with this location and the staff. The management obviously does a great job of training and working together. I have eaten pretty much every protein they offer, including several of the special holiday offerings. I am low carb so try most of the sides but not all. The dining room is spacious, the tables leave room to move around. The location remains well maintained. I've never felt uncomfortable eating here or taking my order to go, which I usually do. Our pickleball crew from the Germantown Tennis Plex started to meet here regularly because of their good foods, nice atmosphere and above all the excellent service. Recommended by my colleague, I ordered the Burnt Ends Briskets that was not on the menu. After getting our orders, I noticed that his came with the sauce and the briskets looked sumptuous. I went back to the counter and asked for the sauce to put on mine since I didn't order it with the sauce. To my surprise, the nice lady behind the counter brought me a whole new order with sauce in the briskets knowing that I liked my friend's order better. What a gracious service!! So Mission BBQ is one of the the best places when it comes to sides I feel, they have the cornbread that is delicious, Mac and cheese, fantastic, and greens plus a whole lot more. I've had pretty much everything on the menu and the Ribs and Brisket are by far the best meats I think. The Ribs you need to pick your favorite Barbecue sauce and put it on and they will be delicious after that. This was our first time at Mission BBQ. Didn't quite know what to expect. First impression... a large dining room cleverly decorated. Clerk at ordering register was very friendly right off. Helped us make some good choices. We both got multi-meat platters. Both got brisket and sausage and I got additional pulled pork. Brisket was great! Tender and juicy. Sausage was really good. My friend had version with chili peppers in it. Pulled pork very tasty. There are six choices in sauces on the table. All were good but I settled on the Smoky Mountain. Sweet and just right fit my taste in BBQ sauce. Each entree included a piece of corn bread. An added treat. I had really well made and flavored beans and a very fresh coleslaw. Unlimited drinks. Before we were finished someone came and asked us how our meal was. They even brought us a sample of the pulled pork. All in all a great lunch. We'll definitely be back. Very solid american BBQ! I got the short ribs, brisket, and side of mac and cheese. Mac and cheese was good but nothing special, but the short ribs and brisket were really good!! Some of the most tender and flavorful I've had compared to other BBQ places. The ribs were falling off the bone :3 I just wish there was more brisket... it was 4 small pieces in one whole order (see picture) and I was expecting at least a little more for the price :( Both came with corn bread. I just needed to update my review because quite frankly, they deserve it! This Mission has super fantastic staff. I arrived on NYE 20 mins before closing and there was no staff rushed or annoyed. Everyone was as friendly and thorough as if it was noon. Monica waited in me and introduced herself when I stepped to the register. We chatted briefly about evening plans and she was helpful on a last minute addition to my order. Monica and the staff that are like her is what makes me loyal to places. I was sad to have seen the opening rescheduled twice but we finally came in!! The staff was very welcoming and friendly as it was our first time at any Mission BBQ. We were helped with our menu to make the right choices, not just for us adults, but for the kids as well!! We were surprised we didn't have to wait too long as it's our least favorite part of going to eat. As soon as we saw our food coming we all got very excited. The 3 meat sampler was extremely delicious. I was surprised no sauce came on it at first, but soon as we saw the "6 pack" of bbq sauces, we were excited to try them all. This was my first time going to Mission BBQ and I didn't expect too much because it's a franchise bbq restaurant. They made me eat my words. From the moment I walked in, I was mesmerized. The smokehouse smell of the restaurant made my mouth water and the customer service was out of this WORLD! I think the associates name was Brandon... he needs to own this location. He went over and beyond our expectations, recommending food, letting us try all the sauces, serving and bussing our table... he was amazing! I had the brisket sandwich (I recommend not lean) and my boyfriend had 5 rack rib; each plate came with a cornbread and we paid extra for sides (truffle Mac and cheese HIGHLY recommend). At least this location is consistently bad. Third visit in a row that our order was served incorrect. Asked for the manager, he had no answers. I asked for a plate, informed me they were out of them. Hard to believe that they had no plastic plates! Had to remake my meal. And used the same food. I'm pretty sure that's a health code issue.
