Hands down the BEST BEST BEST pulled pork BBQ spot ive found! I left a review last year, and had to leave another. His prices are VERY FAIR, the meat is so tender and juicy and piled high! The ribs fall off the bone. His sides are nothing to joke about, the are amazing! He is super friendly, serves you quickly and is always thankful. I go out of my way at least twice a month to go here.... and everytime im in the area! Hahaha. Hes set up in the parking lot right when you pull in, cant miss him! The barbecue is moist, but it was heated up looked like on a grill, and it was still kind tepid not warmer or juicy. Like warmed over leftovers. The bun was ice cold now this is something you could've done something about like toasted and give it a little bit of warm warmth The gentleman serve me was good service and was actually good company I've been driving past this barbecue truck for years. First off, I would like to say that the guy was very friendly and kind. I felt bad, but he needs to improve. The food was horrible. The worst BBQ I've had in my life. I got the brisket sandwich and I couldn't taste anything. I couldn't believe how bland it was. The bbq sauce h added brought nothing to it as well. the texture was not desirable was almost flakey (if that is the right term). Finally, I ate my sandwich in my car right in the parking lot, and it was ice cold. I was honestly shocked how bad it was. It's been a few years and as if guided by fate that today I'd be visiting Mo's today. The bbq here is still peak and amazing. Plenty of sauce on the ribs, the price was on point, and that aroma as I was waiting for the ribs was perfection. Having driven by Mo's numerous times, I decided to stop in to place an order. First and foremost, he is very pleasant and engaging. Admittedly, I'm somewhat of a BBQ snob. Before ordering anything, I asked if i could sample the pulled chicken. When I saw him mixing it up, I thought to myself, that doesn't look like it's going to meet my expectations. Low and behold, when i tried it, I was dead on the money! Bland, semi dry and not hot. I proceeded to order a full rack of ribs and 2 sides (potato salad and baked beans). My first bite into the ribs, I knew instantly that they were cooked in the oven. No grill marks or taste of smoke (disappointing). The sides are definitely store bought. In his case, I'll guarantee you that he hits the Safeway to get his sides before he starts his prepping for the day. It's funny, as soon as my wife took one bite of the potato salad, she said "store bought". While I'm sure Mo has many happy customers, his operation is NOT authentic BBQ. read more

Everything I got from Mo was absolutely top shelf! I got a pulled pork sandwich, a full rack of ribs and some potato salad! Everything was very flavorful and fresh. We used to drive to Hot Springs Arkansas to visit my in-laws. On the way we always stopped for BBQ. Tennessee has really good BBQ! There are many styles, and honestly Mo's has a wonderful tangy but sweet flavor! 1. the coleslaw (my yardstick for excellence is a mix of crisp and sweet) was exceptional. 2. The baked beans were amazing! 3. my co-reviewer got the pulled chicken (yum was all i heard). 4. I got a full slab of ribs. I could only eat half. The portions were a lot larger than I was expecting! "Mo" is a super nice and genuine guy and is a pleasure to speak to. The food however is not what i expect from a barbecue joint. Im not sure why but the meats were a pale color as if either the meat was dunked in water for a long time and lost their color or maybe boiled and finished on a grill. Cant say that i'd go back. I read the reviews on this and thought that it would be as good as the reviews but I'm a little disappointed honestly matter fact, I'm very disappointed especially with their sides the meat was great but the smoker did all the work the sauce taste like it's from a Safeway bottle (no flavor, no kick) as well as there sides exactly like it's from a Safeway shelf taste as if it was done in a huge batch with a metal mixer taste I've been to soo many bbq places and they all do their own sauce and their own home made sides you couldn't even see any seasoning in the sides. very lack luster don't read the rest of these reviews trust me! Mo, is very friendly and personable but he is not serving barbeque. There is no indication that the meat met smoke and fire at any point, which is surprising because, standing by the trailer, you can smell a barbeque pit. I thought for sure he was cooking on oak. I am fairly certain the ribs and brisket are steamed. The pulled chicken may be steam too. Brisket The brisket was dry, bland and didn't have the slightest hint of smoke in the flavor or appearance. It looks, tastes and shreds like steamed brisket. There's no bark and no smoke ring. However, there is a lot of meat on the bun, which is not shown in the picture because my wife was hungry enough to eat it. Pulled Chicken When he was preparing the pulled chicken sandwich, I noticed that the chicken was very wet, like it was in a spot in a foil pain where all the "juice" collected, which isn't a bad thing. However, when I tasted the chicken, I was immediately reminded of boiled and/or steamed chicken. Aside from the barbeque sauce squirted on the sandwich, it completely lacks flavor. It does not take long for a wood or charcoal fire to flavor chicken. As wet and flavorless as the chicken was, I truly believe it was steamed. Even if it was cooked earlier and kept warm in a steam bath, it should still have some semblance of a smoky flavor. BBQ Ribs This one really upset me. It was like I went out an bought someone's bad crockpot, oven baked or steamed ribs. First, look at the picture. Not telltale charring, dry tips or any indication that meat pulled back while cooking in a barbeque pit. If you know barbeque or smoke ribs in your back yard on a charcoal or stick burner, you know what I'm talking about. I can't speak for propane because I've near done ribs on it. Next, look at the meat. The first sign was the unrendered fat across the top and nothing remotely close to bark. The rest I will have to describe because the picture doesn't show it. The pork is gray as if it was steam or wrapped wayyyyy too early. There was no smoke ring, no smoke or grill flavor and nothing about it said that it touched a grill. The meat falls off the bone, which I consider as neither good nor bad because different people cook their ribs to different degrees of tenderness. In summary, these were the worst ribs I have had at any establishment. You are better off hitting a that spot in Washington Grove, the chain with locs on Pike and in Germantown, the chain in Frederick or that place in Germantown where you can do a quick loop and pick up groceries, fried chicken and fresh baked pretzels on your way out the door. Or, better yet, pick up your own slabs, a 6 pack and do a 3-2-1 in your backyard. Potato Salad IMHO, it looks and tastes like grocery store potato salad and has me wondering if he bought it at the nearby Safeway. BBQ Beans I'm trying to figure out if they're Hormel or Bush's. definitely a gem in Gaithersburg/Darnestown! Mo's menu was straightforward and price point affordable, the food was delicious and the service was great. Mo gave fresh pulled chicken for my bbq chicken sandwich, it was so incredibly tender and the portion was enough for two whole sandwiches. i got side beans and potato salad, the potato salad was so homely and yummy. reminded me of an old backyard recipe, and the beans very yummy and balanced, too. wish the beans were meat-free and veg friendly but they are still delicious nonetheless.
