Went to George's Hot Pot on a rough day and honestly left feeling a lot better. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming, the ingredients were fresh, and everything came out flavorful. I tried a variety of items for hot pot along with the Peking duck, which ended up being one of the highlights of the meal. What really stood out to me was the hospitality. The hostess took the time to show me how to properly eat the Peking duck, which made the experience feel welcoming instead of intimidating. Service was attentive throughout the night, and overall it was a really comforting dining experience. Definitely a spot I keep coming back to.

How I felt after eating here, :O

Pro: big parking lot, clean interior. Con: low staffing, confusing menu, not AYCE, poor service. Came here on a Saturday at lunch time and there was only two other party already eating in this fairly large restaurant. We came for the hotpot potion only at the restaurant. Usually we go to hotpot city or urban hotpot in Rockville but wanted to try a new place. Upon entering there was no host at front so we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. This restaurant seems to be run by a mom and pop so the staffing was run only by two people. After being seated we were given a menu with no explanation then given another menu for a combo hotpot platter where you can choose from a set list of food. It is very disappointing that it is not all to can eat (AYCE) but a pay per food type of establishment. With the price of 25 dollar for a limited amount of food, I could have gone to hotpot city paid 35 dollar for dinner and have AYCE style so that I can get more bang for my buck. After checking the food I wanted the meal come out and it not even the items I ordered. I put that I want udon noodle and potatoes but I got ramen noodle and corn. Another con is the staff didn't check in to see how we were doing much. The sauce bar was very limited with no offer of any appetizer or fruits. All in all, I had high hope after seeing all the many positives reviews on yelp and google but maybe it got so many good reviews based on the Chinese food or bbq. The only thing I got here was disappointment like when an Asian parent see that their kid got a B grade on the report card. Chalk this restaurant to a one and done.

3.14.25 Several months ago, I saw a Clipp deal (similar to Groupon) for $30 worth of food, which I paid $15 for. Today I came with my friend. For apps, I ordered a small wonton soup and I split fried coconut, shrimp and red bean pancake with my friend. I ordered the pork bulgogi for my entrée, and she ordered the spicy chili fish fillet. The apps were average to below average, but we enjoyed our entrées. The coconut shrimp was only mildly flavored and the texture is not what I am accustomed to for coconut shrimp. We both agreed that the broth for the wonton soup was bland. Additionally, the red bean pancake was cold and bland as well. I was expecting it to be sweeter. My pork bulgogi was tender and flavorful, and the jasmine rice was moist and perfectly chewy. My friend said her fish was a bit planned, but then after a while, she actually enjoyed it and liked that it wasn't salty since she is watching her sodium. Our server was very friendly and hospitable. I'm not sure if she is the owner. My only complaint is that they didn't specify in the Clipp deal that there is a minimum purchase of $45. Fortunately, I went with my friend because I don't think I would've spent $45 on my own. Additionally, it excluded the lunch combo. I didn't enjoy the food (the apps that we tried) as much as my initial visit so I am inclined not to return.

Crispy Whole Fish and General Tso's Chicken

Tried this restaurant for the first time and it did not disappoint. We ordered the Peking Duck, General Tso's Chicken, and Crispy Whole Fish. The Peking Duck was delicious and well priced compared to other restaurants. In order to get the special duck price, you did have to order other dishes totaling $20 or more and lunch specials do not count. I would come back for the duck. It was tasty and the whole duck was more than enough for 3 adults to share. The General Tso's Chicken was delicious. You actually tasted white meat chicken vs it just being fried dough. I would 10/10 recommend. The Crispy Whole Fish had good flavor, but I wouldn't order it again. It was a bit on the fishy side - didn't taste fresh. We were probably the only ones dining during lunch so service was quick. At the end, we were brought orange slices and hot towels to wipe our hands. The restaurant had plenty of seating and well kept.

Great Chinese food. We got duck, grilled fish, and general tso chicken. Service was quick and there wasn't a lot of people there and environment had a bunch of tables that catered to hotpot. We choice the regular menu.

Recently came here for a friend's birthday for a Sunday lunch. It was really nice that they organized. Pretty convenient spot with plenty of parking because it shares the space with a lot of other shops including a Giant. Unlike other hot pots, it wasn't an all you can eat, instead they do a set menu. The set menu was $25 and they said for the holidays they were offering a deal of buy 3 get the 4th one free. We had a party of 7-8, so that was actually perfect for us. Each pot comes individually out with different foods. I was sad they didn't have enoki mushrooms anywhere on the menu, but all the other items were pretty good. My base broth was the spicy pork cabbage which wasn't that spicy. The standouts of my set were the lamb meat and the taro. They did give you options of fried tofu, seafood mushrooms, and other greens which was also nice to mix in. There was a generous amount of food for the set, even so it was pretty hard to finish it at the end. It truly was split into different sections that you could choose 2-3 items from like 2 meats and 2 seafood items, 3 vegetable items, etc. You can also make your own sauce bar on the side, which was really nice. As our dessert, they served us orange slices which was a great way to cleanse. I definitely took a nap afterwards from the food coma. Highly suggest also ordering the duck. It was delicious. I don't think we had enough cash, but they do offer a deal on the duck if you pay the check in cash, we unfortunately didn't, so we just ended up paying full price for it. It was cooked quite well with a crispy outer layer and soft moist inner layer. They even had a separate container for the rice wrappers to keep them warm. Overall, quite delicious and you'll definitely want to order the duck, so suckling.

I came here by myself to have the meat and seafood lunch special which was a 10/10, the servers are so nice and i enjoy speaking with them, the pork bone broth is so good but sometimes its a little watery but its only happened 1-2 :,)

I just had the best Peking Duck in Montgomery County! We celebrated Valentine's at George's tonight and ordered the whole Peking Duck special along with Szechuan Green Beans and Pork with Garlic Sauce. This was our first time at this location and the duck had really crispy skin and so much meat! The skin was perfect and the meat was juicy. George certainly knows how to prepare a duck and the best part is that he does duck at half the cost of everyone else. It came with the works (see pic) and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal; like a Chinese fajita but wayyyy more yummy! For those folks that remember Peking Cheers back in the 90s, well it's the same gentleman and his lovely wife that used to run the duck specials there. George is so gracious and kind. We chatted it up for a bit and he made us feel very welcomed. So glad that we met them again and we will certainly be back for more duck and explore more of the menu. We will try the hot pot and korean bbq as well next time but the duck is a winner. Most of the other diners were enjoying the hotpot which looked great, but I caught several folks around us eyeing our duck haha. You should give it a try!

Their lunch combo is $14.99 now. Food and service is still good. Older lady serving us was very sweet and told us what we can get with our Clipp certificate. Portions were plenty and you will not go home hungry!

Diana and I - she is one of the owners - as one would note, I have been here frequently

George's is the best!!! The owners run it with such heart , and I have ALWAYS had a spectacular experience here. Normally, I go for their incredible vegetables , fresh seafood , and marinated meats -- all AMAZING. And don't miss the spice bar -- it's one of those details that sets them apart. What makes George's truly special is not just the food, but the gravitas with which they deliver kindness, surprises , and care for their guests. It's an epic experience that feels both joyful and rare -- one I cannot recommend highly enough.

Always great service and food! One place we have to come to when we are in town. Thank you Amy for always making our family meals a wonderful one!

I always come here. ALWAYS! This is the best Hot pot in Montgomery County, MD period. 1. This restaurant ALWAYS have fresh food to put in your hot pot. 2. I have zero complaints. 3. Sometimes you should splurge and treat yourself to a nice lunch or dinner. This place NEVER EVER DISAPPOINT! 4. They have crisply salty shrimp and crabs and it's extremely delicious. You have to ask George about his Chinese menu. 5. I have plenty of pictures to upload but this restaurant is 10/10. 6. Not only is this a hot pot and bbq restaurant. It's actually a very good Chinese restaurant that serves all types of authentic really good Chinese food.

Went to George's for New Year's Eve!. I absolutely Love it here! The customer service is always Great and kind and accommodating!. Mrs Diana is truly a pleasant person. Got the usual Hot Pot/Korean Bbq combos, which whatever you don't finish you can take them home. We got the delicious crispy shrimps which was beautifully served, the ambience always low key chill, The sweet tea is sooo Good also the can sodas aren't refillable. Towards the End of our meal we received a special Happy New Year treat which was an array of sweet treats, along with some oranges. If you're looking for a good meal, chill spot and wonderful customer service stop here! You won't regret it no matter what time you arrive.

The inside had a lot more tables than I thought and the space was bigger than I thought. If i'm being honest, I first chose this place due to the conveyor belt, robot, and $20 lunch price point. Unfortunately, I only kind of got one of those. To my shock, the price increased to $25 for lunch and the conveyor belt was no longer working. I was honestly most excited about the conveyor belt. I saw some reviews that said due to covid they stopped it but if you ordered things, it was sent that way. Unfortunately I think the conveyor belt hasn't been in use for a while because they had decor and everything on it. They did have to robot but it only delivered drink and desserts sometimes. There were even times the robot was on its way to deliver something and the waiter stopped it in the middle of the walkway and deliver the item himself. I wouldn't say the experience was bad but I think it was subpar. Although I did like that the tables give you individual pots because I've been to some places where six people have to share one pot in the middle and it's chaos because you have to reach over people so the individual pot was great. In terms of the actual food it was not bad. The server was actually nice and brought us angus beef which was a dinner item, although we were there for lunch. I mad a great sauce from the sauce bar. I loved the appetizers they had. The fried rice and noodles were exactly how I love it. The fried rice was how i'd have it growing it. All and all loved it and will probably go back at some point. Parking was a little of a hassle so I would keep that in mind. Even during lunch it was hard to find adequate street parking.

Everything was good except for one thing, which I think is pretty important and influences my final score. When we arrived, I told the server we were new to hot pot and we wanted to try two broths. He showed us the iPad ordering device and told me that we should order a half and half pot for $1 extra to get two broths. So, I ordered a half and half pot, and then ordered a variety of meats and fish. We went up to get veggies, which were all being stored at a good cold temp and all looked good. Then a single SMALL pot (they have two sizes of hot pot) was delivered to our table, half one broth and half the other. As I put some of the ingredients in (we were feeding two people), the hot/spicy broth spilled over to the other (tom yum) broth, and essentially turned the whole meal into a spicy broth meal. We got no taste of the tom yum. As we ended the meal, I noticed that other couples had two different pots. We essentially were cramming food for two people into a single pot (and it was one of the small pots, not one of the big ones). As we went to pay the check, I asked the server if we should have gotten two individual pots, each with a different broth. He said "oh yes. I should have told you that." What??!!? So, we basically spent well almost $90 (including tip) for a single small pot of spicy broth mixed with other broth, and having to spend the time minimizing the transfer of broths from one side to the other by minimizing the amount of food we put into the small pot. Yes, I'm ticked off (and I don't tick off easily). The meal would have been very good, but I feel like we got taken advantage of and the server, when he saw us struggling to keep the broths separate and knew he should have been served two pots, didn't say a word, apologize, or offer us any discounts. I reached out twice to the restaurant through Yelp, but heard nothing back. Again, the meats looked good, the veggies looked good, the sauce station was a nice addition. But everything was crammed into a small pot that tasted the same. And they charged us an extra dollar for the privilege! Ugh. I'm really disappointed - and ticked off.

Food was fresh and cold and the meats (I only got chicken but looked at other's tables) looked great. The servers were helpful and friendly. Filled my water glass when I asked them to and took away empty plates pretty promptly. The place is equipped with a conveyor to transport plates of veggies, but it wasn't operating (maybe because it wasn't crowded). There's a robotic server that they used on occasion to bring drinks and plates of food to different tables. I liked this very much. The broths were good and the food was fresh. The cucumber and kimchi were very tasty, especially the kimchi. Each portion I ordered was large - one portion of marinated shrimp was 8 healthy-sized shrimp and the white fish (bass filet) was 4 pieces. Sweet potato was 4 pieces per order, etc. So be aware of that when you order, especially if you come solo. There's a lot that comes out with each item ordered. There's ice cream in a freezer for dessert and also cake and orange pieces. Dinner has more items in the menu, including more extensive seafood and meat offerings. I think the price is reasonable. I ordered the salmon, garlic seasoned brisket and chicken with rice. All of the meat were well seasoned and cooked to my perfection. The rice was cooked a little hard. But overall, it was great. The service was impeccable. The hostess was very friendly and sat me as soon as I walked in. The waitress was very nice, knowledgeable and attentive. She made sure that all my needs were met. The restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing. You can tell they take pride in presentation. Unlike some other Korean BBQ restaurants..the restaurant was very clean. It was a great experience! If you are looking for great Korean BBQ and Hot Pot I recommend checking this place out. I will be back soon. Cheers!

It's definitely a mom and pop feeling, but with a larger space. Interesting color palette combination of a place. The decor is minimal to.... I don't remember any decor, but what's the most important? Food. I was pleasantly surprised by the cost to amount ratio and the taste. They executed the dishes well. I like their Potato Eggplant dish which isn't prominent in other Chinese restaurants in the area. It wasn't busy at the time we were there on a Friday night so we had excellent service. Our servers spoke English and Chinese. Attentive and the food came out really quick. Overall, I would come back. It's not a spot to impress or to dress up to go, but if you're hungry and want a casual Chinese food spot, that's also authentic enough to bring a Chinese person, this is definitely worth a try.

But as is typical of Chinese restaurants in the DMV serving spicy food, this restaurant started out great with authentic levels of spiciness, but then severely toned down their heat level to placate the masses. Although this is a Sichuan restaurant, their shrimp dumplings (Cantonese cuisine) were very good with a thin skin. But their wonton soup was extremely below expectations to the realm of pathetic. The wontons were so tiny and mundane I could easily get larger or better wontons from a Americanized Chinese take out joint or even a run of the mill Chinese buffet. Their service also needs improvement as it took quite a while before a server arrived to greet and take our order on my last visit.
