Sticky rice cakes, rice, Iron Age steak, Hawaiian bulgogi
Alex D.

I went to Iron Age with a couple friends last week for the first time and this will definitely not be my last visit to Iron Age. The server was attentive and everything was brought out quickly. The food was really good and it was large portions to share. They do not do reservations, but we did not have a wait. I will definitely be back soon!

I used to like this place because its great value for the price. That's no longer the case. Dinner is now $35. Lunch $27. And with the automatic 20% tip for parties of 4 or more, and charging kids 10 and older adult prices, this place is no longer worth it in my opinion.

Soy steak and bulgogi

Place gets really crowded and no reservations are taken, but waitlist moves quickly. Music is loud, vibe is fun. The menu format is all you can eat, no special tiers. They offer several types of chicken, different pork and beef cuts, various marinades. They also have vegetable sides (grillable veggies, kimchi, japchae, rice cake, cheese corn, potato salad, steamed egg and green salad. Vegetarians can order all the vegetable sides and grill able veggies for $14.50 instead of the complete $35 AYCE meat menu. Table also came with pickled radish dishes and a plate of 4 sauces (sesame oil with salt, sweet soy, spicy and creamy orange). Ordered veggies to grill first. Portion cane with onions, peppers, and squash. Squash slices were thin, bell pepper chunks were wide. For meat, had the soy steak, regular bulgogi, spicy chicken thigh and Hawaiian bulgogi. The chicken was one big thigh piece. Our server cut it up into pieces for us, did the same with the steak (and asked how we like the latter). Hawaiian bulgogi was sweeter and marinated with an additional pineapple chunks for a different flavor. Both types were good. Hard to pick a favorite meat (maybe the Hawaiian bulgogi). Service was attentive. They also let us know that parties of 4 or more get 20% gratuity automatically added. Fun place for a once-in-a-while meat feast.

I would give this place 5 stars due to its cleanliness and how fast the service was. However, something about the taste of the seasoning didn't meet my standards. Lunch- $24 Dinner- $32

Cooking brisket and eating side salad and some rice

All you can eat Korean BBQ! Very good prices for what you eat. The meat is good, rice is cooked well, and I always order their salad (the dressing is really good). Solid place to go for a medium sized group! Love that they play music/music videos for some entertainment! And if you have a birthday they come out and will sing a birthday jingle. Service is always good when I go!

I always have a good experience when I go to Iron Age. The food is good and it's a fun atmosphere. My server Alex was amazing and made my experience enjoyable and relaxing. I get the same thing every time I go. I get the salad and veggies to start. I wish they would sell the salad dressing they use by the bottle because it's so good! For my meats I did Hawaiian bugolgi, Iron Age steak, spicy squid, spicy chicken, and finish everything off with a steamed egg. This visit I also tried the japchae for the first time which is good. The food is fresh and the grills are easy to use. They play jpop music videos on the screens so it's a little on the loud side but honestly I just tune it out. I highly recommend getting there early because the waitlist grows quickly. I love it there and will definitely be back!

First time at Iron Age KBBQ was pretty good! The food is absolutely delicious! Simple yet so flavorful, and the sauces are top-notch. Every bite was packed with so much savory goodness. The best part? The service! Our server, JP, was incredible. He was super dedicated to our table, always making sure we had everything we needed. From helping us cook our meats to consistently checking in on us, JP truly went above and beyond. The experience was seamless, and we felt well taken care of the entire time. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving authentic, tasty Korean BBQ with amazing service! The place could use a little more ventilation bc it was very smokey inside and when we left our hair def had to be washed! Alsoooo, one thing to note, the steamed eggs were not steamed!!!! I've been to many kbbq places and this has got to be the first that served raw egg in a covered tin foil bowl then for us to place it on the grill to cook. I did not prefer it like that bc I actually opened it up thinking it was already cooked! But then again there are pros to having it not cooked and be cooked to your own desired outcome/texture. We were pretty hungry & didn't get a chance to take pics of the food but it was pretty decent!

The food is amazing we tried a few diff meat option the squid did feel like it was overcooked sadly. We had an amazing waitress named Aliyah who provided great service. The area can be a bit loud at when it's a full house. However it' was a great experience overall

Iron Age Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Iron Age

How much is dinner for adult in iron age?

Does anyone know how much the AYCE is currently per person? And do they have a kids price?

$30. Pretty reasonable

Can you pay in cash?

Yes, they take cash and credit cards.

Is there a fee for kids? What is the age they still eat free?

Unless they've changed during the Pandemic, I believe it was kids 3 & under eat free.

Can a party of 3 call ahead or call enlist on Yelps waiting list to get on the list?

They are first come first served. They only allow reservations for parties of 8 or more.

What is the name of the orange sauce they give you that's put infront of u when you first sit down in Iron Age?

Yum yum sauce

How many people per table are allowed during Covid 19?

As of November, 6 people per table.

Anyone know how they are operating during the pandemic?

Pretty darn well

Are they still open? There are no updates on their website and no one is picking up the phone at the restaurant.

Iron Age is Korean BBQ. You cook meat yourself at a grill built into the table. They don't do carry-out. With Maryland being restricted to carryout and/or delivery based on covid-19 restrictions I would imagine they are closed.

Any gluten free options?

They mostly serve meat. Almost everything is meat, meat, and more meat. I'm sure some of their marinade might have gluten, but most will be fine.

Who knows how the steak is prepared?

Fuck if I know man! They just put the meat in front of me and I ate it. Pretty damn good!

Has anyone brought children? I'm thinking of going with ™ family. I have 2 kids (age 1.5 and 3yrs old).

I've seen people bring kids here, usually very early in the day. However at night time (after 5-6PM) it gets really busy and loud so not sure if that would be kid friendly or not.

Can we cut a cake brought from the outside?

No!

Is it possible to get the leaves for wraps instead of salad?

Yes they have lettuce wraps

Is it all you can eat for $18.00 dollars including weekends?

No, the lunch special is $18.00 Monday-Thursday 11am-2:30pm . Regular hours or days depends on which menu you pick. Menu A is like $21 and menu B is like $25 for all you can eat

If you get on the wait list prior to lunch ending but are not seated until after 2:30, will they still allow you to order from the lunch menu?

Yes they will, happened to me once

Best day/time to go for shortest wait time? Obviously opening and lunch time but has anyone ever had good luck in the evening?

Weekdays durning lunchtime

Can you call ahead to put your name on the list?

No, only party groups

How big of a party can you have?

As big as you want if there is space there. It gets full really fast. I have had a group of 15-20 before.

Started with the Caesar salad appetizer and it was completely bland. No flavor at all. Then I had the French dip with the thin fries. I specifically asked for the meat to be well done and lean with no fat. The waitress said that wouldn't be a problem, but the sandwich came out not well done, fatty, and pretty tasteless. The horseradish sauce also had almost no flavor whatsoever. I don't even know why they call it horseradish honestly. The au jus seemed weak and watered down too, or maybe just old. Either way, it wasn't good. Overall the meal just felt really off compared to what this restaurant used to be. Maybe it was an off night, I don't know, but it definitely wasn't the experience I expected. Not sure if I'll go back again. Unfortunately in Montgomery County there really aren't that many great options left either.

The biggest hit for me was the suppli appetizer. These are absolutely delicious and vegetarian friendly! Similar to arancini but somehow even more delicious. These are a must-order. I had the pasta alla vongole and a bite of my husband's chicken parmigiana. Our friend had mushroom ravioli that she loved, but I didn't try as I don't care for mushrooms. I've been on a clams and garlic kick lately for some reason and the vongole comes with these and bonus bacon. I would have preferred the bacon a tad crispier, but that is personal preference. I'd give this dish 4* - I would get it again but after trying some others. From the one bite the chicken parmigiana was a 5*. Their marinara is very good and the linguine in both our dishes tastes freshly made. We all split the chocolate temptation dessert and I ate more of it than I expected to, it is chocolate mousse adjacent cake with ganache frosting, very light, perfectly sweet. Often I find chocolate desserts too much after a big meal but this one wasn't heavy at all. 5* My friend ordered sangria which she thought was more like a wine cooler; too sweet for her French oenophile sensibilities and a bit lighter than a sangria usually is, but I am a pleb who loves sweet drinks and I would order it. If you are a sangria purist you might not care for it. Hubs enjoyed his old fashioned but said it needed a dash more bitters to be perfect. I was driving so enjoyed a non-dirty Shirley. Prices to me are reasonable for quality and portion size; our tab ended up high because of the appetizer, drinks and dessert but if you just had pizza or pasta with soda it would be pretty affordable. I will be back to get more suppli and try other dishes!
