Ordered mixed 6 pieces wins and drumsticks. They are Not good because the they weren't fresh. It felt like the chicken had been sitting around for a long time -- the fried wings were dry, tough, and had no juiciness. Not worth the price. I wouldn't recommend it.

This place is cute, food and drinks are good . The menu is lovely and prices are reasonable. The service was fantastic, everyone was so nice and down to earth. It's still nice outside so I sat outside, aside from the annoying bugs flying around(lol) it's a vibe.

Decided to go here with the family for dinner. We were a party of 9 and got seated right away since it wasn't too busy. The place isn't too big but I like it. The service is good. At the beginning they probably forgot about us but they started checking in more often to make sure we had everything we needed. My husband and his nephews ordered at least 60 chicken wings (half and half), japchae, seasoned french fries, sesame ginger salad, and takoyaki. We tried to order udon but they said they don't have it anymore. We didn't finish all the wings, so leftover for lunch tomorrow :) Also, the only picture I got because everyone already started digging in.

Review is based solely on a delivery order. Bonchon is just as great as a I remember it! I got the half-half spicy and soy garlic combo. The spicy chicken had the right amount of spice where it was not too overbearing, but still pleasant to eat. But the true star was the soy garlic. I've had many soy garlic chickens before, but this one blew me away! Will definitely try to come check the place out in person!

Could not pass up a chance to get takeaway during their 10-year anniversary promotion. On the day I went, the deal was 10 signature drumsticks (spicy or garlic soy) for $10. Only 1 order per person. The person who took my order over the phone was very professional, and even apologetic that the wait time for the chicken would be 30-40 minutes. Not a problem, I reassured. To my pleasant surprise, the order came out sooner than anticipated. The chicken legs (though double fried) were not too oily, nor were they overcooked. The meat was juicy and flavorful, surrounded by a very crunchy (not too thick) batter. The garlic soy sauce seeped into the chicken coating well, and was not overly salty. Such a great deal. As much as I like their chicken will pass on their wing-eating contest (last day of anniversary celebration).

    Chicken Katsu

Super delicious Korean fast food! 5 stars for the food but 3 stars for the service. We ordered the Chicken Katsu and Bulgogi fries and both were fantastic (particularly the bulgogi fries). The chicken was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and very flavorful. The Bulgogi fries were sweet, savory, and crispy! The service was pretty slow even though it was 3 pm on a weekday and was not during lunch or dinner rush. The server awkwardly asked us how our meal was ~at least~ 12 times in the short time we were there. In retrospect, we probably should have ordered it as takeout. Otherwise, the food was fantastic and I will definitely order it as takeout again!

    tofu bi-bim-bap

You've all probably tried the excellent friend chicken at Bonchon, but let me use this opportunity to praise their bi-bim-bap and friend rice. Bonchon occasionally adds a few non-chicken menu items to change things up, and I think they're pretty good. The tofu bi-bim-bap has all the textures and flavors you'd expect from a good bowl, crispy fresh vegetables, warm rice, spicy sauce. The shrimp fried rice had plenty of large, plump shrimp and lots of flavor, not bland or salty. So if you're not feeling the chicken, get the bi-bim-bap or the fried rice. Mix it up!

    Bibimbap
    Leah C.

My bibimbap was a huge portion (I had an entire lunch for the next day) but had little Bulgogi, which is absolutely what I was most excited about (so that was disappointing). The pieces of meat were also small, not the strips of beef I was expecting. I liked the spicy sauce they served on the side. I also tried a potsticker, which was nice and crunchy. Staff were nice and accommodated our large party late at night. I'd come back to try their wings and fried chicken, which I've learned is their signature "thing."

It's been a minute since I've written an updated Yelp review, but given that I've had Bonchon a handful of times throughout the pandemic, I figured it was time for an update. The last time I wrote this Yelp review was over five years ago, which was the first time I ever dined at Bonchon. And silly me, I had no idea that when you go to Bonchon, the place of the Korean fried chicken, that you're supposed to order the fried chicken! *insert scream emoji here* I have learned my lesson and we have gotten our Bonchon order down. I've tried the strips, the wings, the drumsticks, the combo -- all of it (even "sweet crunch" back when that was a thing). Soy garlic wings all the way - extra saucy! My family also likes to order the spicy strips (but I don't do spicy, so more for them). This Bonchon has consistently gotten our order of extra saucy chicken down, so five stars for flavor and dependability. The super saucy soy garlic goes perfectly with an order of rice. And between the regular fries and the seasoned fries, paying extra for the extra salty, cheesy goodness is totally worth it. Since the pandemic, we've been ordering it to-go and for the most part, the chicken has stayed crispy even with the travel time. Rarely is it soggy unless it's hanging out in the sealed box too long. Some may say that the chicken can be pricey (nearly $40 for a large), but this is something I constantly crave. What's not to love about Bonchon?

    Outdoor dining available
    Mariana C.

I have had consistently good experiences at this (Rockville) location! I did not realize that different locations could end their lunch specials at different times until I went to place an order at the new Kentlands (Gaithersburg) location (because parking would be slightly easier there) and noticed that they stopped lunch earlier. It may not seem like a big deal, but when juggling work and other things, sometimes a little extra time to get a late lunch makes a big difference to a person. Especially if I am dining solo, the lunch specials are the perfect portion with a side order of rice or fries. Rockville is not offering dine in as of the beginning of November, but Gibbs street has been closed for months to allow for outdoor dining if you aren't just looking to take your order to-go. I have tried other locations, including the one at Columbia Mall, and over-all while I have not had any bad experiences, I would say Rockville is consistently the best :)

The abalone was a bit dry, probably from sitting out for a while before being eaten. The pig bun was cute, but I was expecting custard and it was actually a red bean filling. I did not enjoy the colorful dumplings. I'm glad they also had eel sashimi, but it was not refilled before we left after it ran out. This big selection is only for dinner or weekends. If you go for weekday lunch, the variety of food drastically decreases. I loved their chicken soup and Buddha jumps over the wall soup. After we were seated, there was so much to try. A member of the wait staff must bring the hotpot (it's small, but that's okay because the table fills up with plates quickly) and sodas, if ordering. I ordered the mushroom broth flavoring (none of the hotpot's have pork-based favoring). Everything else is available to pick up on your own (Ramen, Buffet items, hot pot items, boba teas, and all of the dessert items). Staff came fairly regularly to pick up empty plates. Bathrooms were okay, no lines when I needed to stop by. I would love to see Umi have handwashing sinks outside of the restrooms though, not sure where they would put them, but that would be amazing! It was busy when we dined for lunch, but it was not ever so busy that I was waiting for food or platters were empty. Umi also offers carry out for food and even boba teas for additional cost. There is an automatic 12% service fee added to each check, regardless of the size of the party. If paying with cash, there is a 3% discount. There is plenty of free outdoor parking all over the shopping complex Umi is in. I tried not to think of this too much, but Umi only uses plastic/disposable plates. All that plastic leeching into my food didn't stop me, but it made me uncomfortable and stressed. The bowls for soup were plastic too. The silverware was metal and the bowls the Ramen was served in was ceramic. I asked if by chance non-plastic materials are available at Dinner and was told that only plastic is ever used. I understand why (the kitchen cannot keep up with washing the plates, I am sure), but I am unsure of when I would want to return because of this unpleasant feeling.
