I had driven by Mission BBQ before it was not until I dined there that I realized the purpose behind the name - the restaurant is a decor memorial to the military services. Service is military quick. The collard greens were flavorful. My pulled pork sandwich had a heaping serving of meat. Sometimes restaurants that spend on decor lack on the food side - this one delivered.

Mission BBQ it's like a warm hug. Service is always friendly and the food is consistently good. The walls in Mission are a tribute to the armed services and service members. Make it a point to visit Mission at noon time when everything stops in the anthem is played. It is truly touching. Sign up for their emails and several times throughout the course of the year they offer a free sandwich and sometimes share recipes. They have six types of barbecue sauce on every table, my favorite is the Tupelo honey. My brisket sandwich had a lot of meat on a soft and fresh bun.

This review is for takeout only as I have yet to dine in at this fairly new location on Commercial Blvd. in east Fort Lauderdale--right where Bost0n Market was housed for many years. I walked in, placed our orders for barbecue brisket which comes with their delicious cornbread, pulled pork sandwich combo for my daughter with a creamy mac n cheese and a bottle of Crush soda, and finally, a sliced turkey sandwich with jalapeño sausages for the man of the house. The dining area began to fill up quickly as I waited for our orders to be finished and bagged. They gave us a generous amount of sauces which I got to pick. My favorite was the Smoky Mountain. The service was great and the food excellent! We chowed down at home, savoring every delicious bite and morsel to our hearts' content. I gotta say that each menu selection was as good as the next!

We got there a little after they opened so we didn't have to wait on a line that we watched form after 12. Good service, person knew the menu inside and out and explained it well. We got the brisket, mac and cheese, and side of apple cobbler. Good portion. Sauces on the table. The brisket was pretty good. Mac and cheese was delicious. The apple cobbler was definitely sweet but so good too! Loved the cornbread too and it actually had corn pieces in it. Shared it with my fiancé and we dined in. Love that the sauces were on the table. Pretty big place with plenty of seating. They also played the Star Spangled Banner at some point during our time in there. My guess is because the place honors Vets!

Lauretta was amazing!!! I came here to meet up with a big group of friends that we haven't seen in a while. When we arrived early we sat and waited for a little bit and noticed the restaurant was clean and had a very cool vibe to it. Even the bathrooms were cool. We were approached by Lauretta who said she worked the dining room. We told her it was our first time and we had a group of 12 people coming. She pushed tables together for us and even put "reserved" signs down. She gave her recommendation and told us how their menu worked. Once whenever arrived and ordered she brought our food for us and checked in on us. It was the most exceptional service ever. I literally hugged her before we left! The was delicious and I personally love bbq. My favorite was the brisket for sure. Overall this was a fantastic experience and it made for this little friend reunion to be even more special!

I had lunch at Mission. It was a phenomenal experience. Kevon was my order taker. He was extremely helpful. I told him I wanted NC style pork, so he ordered a side of Cole slaw to put on my pork without charging me for it! So nice and unexpected! The dining room was incredibly clean thanks to Loretta, the dining room attendant. Friendly, smiling, helpful, we talked about the different barbecue sauces. She was a sweet lady and very, very attentive. I ordered the 2 meat sampler. The beef brisket was moist and delicious with a nice smoke ring. The pulled pork was also moist and very flavorful. My potato salad was excellent. It had a nice spice to it, maybe tarragon?? Delicious all the way around. I love the six pack of sauces they leave on your table. I tried a little of each. (That's why you'll want the 2 or 3 meat sampler.) You cannot go wrong here if you like good barbecue. I'm coming back for sure.

This place was great! The food portions were plentiful. I had the Hawaiian Ribeye, which was smoked and cooked perfectly. We also had the brisket, baked beans, Mac and cheese, peach cobbler and brownie! There was plenty of searing and parking. Our highlight was Miss Loretta. She was a server, busser, and food runner. She was the sweetest thing and absolutely made our time at Mission BBQ an experience instead of just a meal. She was friendly, attentive and really went out of her way to welcome us. Thank you, Miss Loretta. Oh, having served in the military and a cop for over 26 years, this place honors those that have served. 100% recommend this place.

First time here, But I'm sure to be back. I really didn't know of the place, much less that it had a location in South Florida. I was checking what spots had a veterans day deal and mission was one of them. i stopped in yesterday and noted right away that the place was popular. It was a Tuesday and there were plenty of people grabbing a sandwich. The décor was rustic with a lot of reconstituted pallet wood along the walls. the place felt like it was selling down home Americana and it clearly was working. I wasn't sure what to order, being a1st time. I asked the gal taking my order what to she suggested. She really knew her menu. She covered everything and also suggested a couple sandwiches that weren't even on the menu. I took her suggestion for a off menu jalapeño sausage sandwich. it was as good as she said. It was a original spot in South Florida. A Southern sandwich type joint. They had a giant cake at the end of the counter that was promoting veterans and they put a piece of the cake in my bag too. I liked the experience, hope to be back soon.

A group of 8 of us came here for the first time last night. We sat outside, they have plenty of tables with umbrellas. The food was very good, I had the lean brisket, they also have it with more fat So much to choose from, ribs, ribs, ribs. Sides: macn cheese, spicy collard greens, green beans, Cole slaw. The order comes with a piece of cornbread that was moist and delicious. In addition to soda they have lemonade, bottled rootbeer, bottled orange soda. The service was amazing. They came outside and checked on us 5 times!!

The food was good. Super fast service and a server always checks in with you just in case. Prices were reasonable and they also have a variety of sauces which is nice because you can try something new. This was a great place for a family or by yourself. Definitely would come back!!!

I would've gave this place 5 stars but they DONT GIVE any MILITARY / VETERAN discount which is crazy since this is a military / veteran themed restaurant Food was good though . I guess they really don't honor their servicemen or women . Truly disrespectful to the American veterans

Delicious moist brisket. Tender and well seasoned. Lots of BBQ sauces to choose from on the table. Nice staff. Helpful and pleasant

Mission BBQ was founded on September 11, 2011, by Bill Kraus from Under Armour and Steve Newton from Outback Steakhouse. The friends had ties to the military and the inspiration for this barbecue restaurant stems from their goal of honoring military personnel and first responders through a patriotic atmosphere. The restaurant's opening date was chosen to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. The restaurant expresses their patriotism while celebrating American heroes and the values they represent. Restaurants are designed to give thanks to those who serve and protect while fostering a sense of community. The first Mission BBQ opened in Glen Burnie, Maryland, followed by rapid growth with new locations opening all of the the United States. Mission BBQ actively supports military and public service organizations by holding events to honor veterans and first responders. They also offer free meals to active duty military and veterans on designated days. As of July 15, 2024, there are 137 Mission BBQ locations across the United States, with Florida having the most. This Mission BBQ location opened in June of last year in the former Boston Market on Commercial. Menu items are a la carte, with meat and sides priced individually or you can make it a combo with one or two sides and a drink. All meats are slow-smoked, cooked on premises and served fresh. Meat choices include brisket, chicken, turkey, pork, sausage, ribs, salmon, and burgers. Sides offered include macaroni and cheese, fries, baked beans, cold slaw, collard greens, green beans, and potato salad. We got the pulled chicken sandwich, pulled pork plate, and fries. The pork came with corn bread. They had six sauces to choose from and malt vinegar. We liked the sweet Smoky Mountain best but they have something for every taste. The food tasted great, portions, were ample, and our meals were reasonably priced for barbecue. Staff was friendly too and checked on us to see if we liked our meals and if we needed anything. I loved their sweet tea too. If you purchase one of their American Heroes Cups refills are only 99 cents and they donate $2 to a local non profit. Another unique thing about Mission is they play the National Anthem and salute the flag everyday at noon. Customers and staff are encouraged to participate. This was my first time visiting but I have a feeling I'll be back soon to grab a quick dinner during the hectic school year.

We love Cajun food, so we were excited to try it, and the gumbo did not disappoint. I was starving and completely forgot to take pictures of the étouffée my bf got, he said it was good, definitely creamier than traditional, which made it a bit of a risk for me since I'm allergic to dairy. I had a Shirley Temple, and my boyfriend had a Bloody Mary that he said was good... although I have to say, the green bean garnish threw me off a little I've seen some wild garnishes, but that one made me laugh. I got chicken tenders with tots and red beans and rice everything was solid. The music was great, the atmosphere was lively, and even with the rain keeping us off the patio, we had a great time. We'll definitely be back to check out the outdoor space on a nicer day.
