Local BBQ restaurant stop for lunch today. Plenty of available parking in the lot and right in front. We were greeted right away and invited to sit wherever we liked. Our server brought us menus and took our drink orders. Un-sweet house brewed ice Tea for both of us. My wife went with the Pulled pork sandwich Lunch special and I chose the Pulled Pork platter with collard greens and baked beans. Our meals were brought out of the kitchen in a reasonable amount of time, hot and appealing. Every component of my platter was delicious! The Pulled pork, (a very generous portion), the collards and the baked beans were spectacular! My wife enjoyed her sandwich and was overjoyed with her hand cut fries just as she likes them! We both had plenty of left over pulled pork to take home and enjoy again later! So Glad we stopped in!!! read more

This restaurant gets extra stars for the atmosphere inside which feels like a fun western town bar and BBQ stop. Outside there are barrels acting as tables lining the sidewalk. Inside were two rooms, one with a very long bar and a band setting up, the other was open and had a fun country feel. We were told to sit anywhere. Our server was pleasant. We ordered the BBQ ribs as our goal was to find the best around . We asked specifically if they were baby backs and were told yes. We also ordered some medium buffalo wings. There were several house made BBQ sauces on each table which was a good sign. We didn't wait long however when our large slab of ribs arrived, we were surprised they were so big. They were very tender and meaty but also fatty. The BBQ sauces were nice. Hot, Sweet and a Mustard Vinegar blend. Our green beans and home made fries were really good. The wings were good and came with lots of celery and blue cheese. Parking was easy. The prices were a little high for the ribs . We didn't find the best ribs but they had a large enough menu and we live nearby. I would go back and try another dish because of the fun atmosphere. No ribs next time. read more

If you like funky bar atmospheres, you're gonna love this place. A buddy and I went for lunch and I must say the barbecue is excellence. Meaty fall off the bone rib. Ribs were great and the two sides wow really good my buddy had brisket and he loved it. He thought the portion was a little small, but other than that just full of flavor and really good I bet this place is hopping at night, a great spot for a beer and some jukebox music maybe? My friend and I went here for the karaoke. They have karaoke on Monday and Wednesday evenings. The decor of the place is western and it's cute inside. We sat at the bar because most of the tables were being used. The bartender greeted us right when we came in and she was very friendly throughout the night. I decided to order the pulled pork sandwich which came with one side. I chose the baked beans. They have a tray of condiments including different types of BBQ sauces. The sandwich was good but the bottom bun was all soggy. The baked beans were delicious. The service was friendly, but not too attentive. When we wanted to speak to our bartender, we had to go get her attention, rather than her coming by to check on us. The karaoke was fun, but the guy running it had mostly songs before 2007. He said he has to pay for new songs. He did have some new ones and also said that we could text him a song. All in all, a cute place with good food. read more

I've been coming to Spanx for about 10 years or so, way before they opened up the second part with the bar. I have never had a bad experience here. The staff is always super friendly and responsive. Has a great country feel and I love the decor. I will almost guarantee you can't find a better cheesesteak in this part of town! These things are so good I have dreams about them! The fried ribs are also top/notch and the bbq sauce can go toe to toe with the best of them. Some people are just hard to please I guess. Or maybe they just aren't ordering the right stuff! I happen to find this location by complete accident and I had a decent experience. I came around 9:00pm on a Wednesday night and the parking lot was packed. I learned that it's because there is a bar right next to the restaurant. In fact, they are the same business. One side of the building is a bar and the other a restaurant; only connected by a set of doors inside. The location has a saloon vibe, as the name implies, and I liked it. It's decorated very cool inside. I was a big fan on the beer-bottle salt and pepper shakers. It was also very clean well kept. Amber was my server and she did a fantastic job. I explained it was my first time there and she gave me a rundown of the menu and best selling dishes. I was the only person in the restaurant; everyone else was in the bar area, but she was still very attentive. I found the food to be a bit bland, specially for the price. I ate brisket & chicken (served as pulled chicken) with potato salad and mac-n-cheese. It cost $24.99 + the Sprite was $3.25, totaling $28.24; $31.42 with tax. I wouldn't mind paying this if the food was phenomenal. I've paid less at other locations and the food is significantly better. The meat was very dry and flavorless, but I was given a tangy sauce, a sweet sauce, and a spicy sauce, and all of them improved the flavor of the meat, but not enough for me to say I enjoyed it. Despite being very watery, the mac-n-cheese was pretty good. The biggest downside was the potato salad; I wasn't a big fan. The best part, however, was the Texas toast. It was delicious. I went last night for the live music and to grab some food at the bar. I ordered the Italian sausage sandwich on a hoagie roll. It's a sausage version of a cheese steak. The sandwich was large but I was really looking forward to Italian sausages smothered in peppers and onions not a ground sausage version with the veggies minced and blended in the meat. It was very spicy also which took away from the taste. I only ate half. The ambiance is LOUD with the band playing. I constantly got decibel over 90 warnings on my Apple Watch. Fun wise there are two pool tables and electronic darts. The bar area is pretty cool and roomy with a more family oriented room opposite with picnic tables. The bar service was pretty good but by my second beer they had run out of frosty mugs. I will say I had a good time. My brother and I visited Spanks to support a friend who is in the group, the Surf Dawgs. We ordered 2 IPAS from an very attractive blond waitress dressed in black. We wished to order our meal from her and she NEVER came back to take our food order. I saw her a few times walk through the restaurant and she totally ignored us. It was as if she had horse blinders on. We tried to get her attention and she looked at us as if we weren't there. I have been never treated so rudely in a restaurant setting before. Perhaps, she was overwhelmed tonight because the restaurant may have been understaffed. I can understand that., sometimes it may happen. I came here for lunch with some co workers and it was dead, hardly anyone there. We started with the corn nuggets which were pretty good. I ordered the Hog salad and added chicken. Salad came out with lettuce, egg, tomato, onion, and cheese. It had shredded chicken on top which was extremely bland and dry. I added the bbq sauce which helped with the flavor. The salad did not taste good at all and cost $18! The bill came out and I was shocked. $87 for lunch with no alcoholic beverages. This place is very overpriced for the quality of food. looking forward to good bbq, reviews looked promising. located in 2 store fronts in a strip mall, one side is a dining room, other is a bar. ordered a couple of beers, bartender served us, assuming our server was not of age. she was friendly, but very green at serving. we ordered a smoked turkey sandwich with fries & the combo platter that had brisket, turkey, pulled chicken breast, & pulled pork, along with slaw & baked beans. put everything in the middle of the table & shared. the side were all good, the meats were hit & miss.....brisket, delicious. pork good too. turkey was dry and the pulled chicken breast was the worst part. when chicken breast is overcooked it gets grainy & mealy. they should mix the breast meat with thigh & leg meat to keep it moist and not so dry it was ok, but not as good as some of the reviews claim. don't know if we'd go back again read more

We came here for lunch originally planning to go to a different restaurant in the same strip that turned out to be closed for vacation. This is definitely a kitschy decorated place with lots of dead stuffed animals and cattle skulls on the walls between all the other cowboy stuff. In the ladies room, even, there are mini saddles covering the wall mounted toilet paper rolls while extra rolls are threaded on a metal spur like holder. It's a bit much. Connected through an open doorway is a bar area that looks like it holds events. The menu is large. There are cutesy names for things -- for example, the sides are called "fillers" and the kids menu is for "little hogs". You'll either like this or find it cloying. I decided to have their half rack of ribs. It is just the ribs. They are meaty and were 5 in the order. They were plainly smoked. There are 3 sauces on the table (2 were in red and yellow containers that we assumed were ketchup and mustard). Sauces are sweet (which was very sweet), tangy (a touch of vinegar in a thinner sauce base), and spicy (which was only slightly). The ribs were okay. My husband had their pulled pork platter. It came with Texas toast (a thick piece of buttered garlic white bread) and two sides. It say one side plus coleslaw on the menu but, he chose collards and baked beans. The collards were good, but a very tiny bit. The beans were sweet but seemed from the can. They need a bit more "doctoring" for my taste. The pork was okay -- a bit wet -- and better with some liberal addition of sauce. It wasn't a bad meal, by any means, just that there's so much competition now for good bbq and we've had a whole lot better in many other restaurants. I'm glad we came, cause now we know. read more

Ordered pulled chicken bbq sandwich. The chicken had a really off taste- like it had been sitting in a hot well too long & over cooked. Very dry like sawdust. No BBQ sauce came with it. Bottom of bun was soggy with water to a point of completely inedible. Got fried okra - okra was not fried & still very raw. Also, got the Pulled Pork Philly- saw complaint- dry, off flavor & soggy bun. This is a great BBQ restaurant and bar hangout with live music! One room is the restaurant and the other room is a full bar with dance floor & stage area. And from what the bartender says, they're soon to expand and add another room! We went to see a friends band play, Sherlock Ohms, which was great! But this place is also known for winning the ALLIGATOR RON'S ANNUAL WINGSFEST competitions at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds for several years! This place gives you the feel of being in the country with hay stacks & saddles to sit on, and decorated country style. The staff is very friendly and its reasonably priced.
