So this is a review of the J&C BBQ booth at the Yellow Green Farmers Market during Easter weekend…read more It was my first visit to the Farmers Market and I consider it a success - I was looking to learn what kinds of vendors were there and we certainly saw a lot. It wasn't my mom's first time so she wasn't as positive as I was, as it wasn't her first time. It was Easter weekend and some booths were empty. Again - it was Easter weekend and therefore, it's understandable to me that some booths would not be open because that's a prominent holiday weekend when some people travel. Anyway, we had been walking around for a while and decided we'd purchase some takeout after a kind encounter for a sample with the owner - Mom was sold and got a BBQ rib platter with baked Southern macaroni and cheese as double sides. I'm not a huge rib fan (but those ribs were delicious), still I got a separate side of macaroni and cheese to accompany the protein I had already prepared at home. Truth bomb -- that mac and cheese could be a meal all by itself. It was creamy and hearty, the way it should look and taste. Thank you to Mr. Arterberry for your kind service, hospitality and for delicious takeout.

The food truck sits off the side of the road and it was raining but that didn't deter me. There was also a slight covering on the food truck. I didn't notice any seating, but I was fine taking mine to go. I was greeted by the owner and he started me off with some samples of the meats, which was great! My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the brisket and I loved the ribs. I decided to order a rack of ribs and a brisket dinner with Mac and cheese as a double side. The portions were pretty good too. Everything I ordered was delicious! I love a good sauce, but tangy and not too sweet and he delivered. The mac and cheese was cheesy and good! The ribs were good and had a slight char which I loved. Customer service: 10/10! Food:10/10! I'll be back!

We had a nice chat about her mom's army service (over 35 years!), too. Her husband is the chef -- from Florida -- and she's originally from Connecticut -- my home state. I ordered the gumbo and a side of fried okra. The slightly spicy sausage gave it a nice kick -- along with shrimp and chicken and veggies in a tasty "broth". It was delicious! It came with a sweet corn muffin -- which I had as my "dessert". We shared the fried okra. They were perfectly crispy bits of smaller sized okra -- my favorite -- with a remoulade style dipping sauce. My husband got their meatloaf with sides of collards and mashed potatoes. There were two large slices of smoked meatloaf. The collards had the right texture and flavor with bits of smoked meats bathing in a wonderful pot liquor. He actually drank the "juices" in the dish when done with the greens! I tasted the collards and really liked them also. I'll get these next time, too. If you like southern cooking with a Cajun twist, run here. The food is worth a drive. You will not be disappointed.

On a trip to Miami a few days ago my girlfriend and I decided to try them for lunch. McMillon's both on The outside and inside has an old look to it that reminded me of some of the bbq places I've been to in Memphis and Kansas City. Very basic interior without much decor. We ordered a rib dinner with Mac and cheese and baked beans and an extra side of potato salad. I decided to get a cheeseburger too. The ribs were pretty good. Tender but not fall off the bone (which is over cooked in my book). They do come sauces so be aware. But I must say I Loved their bbq sauce. It was so good that I would have happily bought a jar of it on site but they don't sell it that way sadly. A vinegar/mustard based sauce I would say, similar to what places in South Carolina would make. The Mac and cheese was decent, could use a little more creaminess and cheese. I really liked the baked beans which were heavy in cinnamon and reminded me of the kind of baked beans that many bbq places in the Tampa-area used to serve when I was living there years ago (people called them "cinnabeans"). The burger is huge. They use sliced bread as opposed to traditional bun. I thought the service was pleasant. Maybe slightly disorganized. Would definitely come back and buy their sauce in a to go carton.

We came to Rock n Roll Ribs tonight at 8pm (they're close at 9pm)…read more There were a decent amount of tables filled but by 8:40 pm it was just us and another table and they started putting the chairs on the tables, cleaning (smelling cleaning products when you are eating actually ruins how you taste the food). We understand they probably had a very long day and wanted to get out as soon as they closed the door. It's unfortunate though. I feel like we arrived with plenty of time but it felt like we should've taken it to go and enjoyed it slowly at home. The servers were VERY nice. Very down home. We ordered some drinks and I'm not a beer drinker but I tasted the Trooper beer and it was actually very smooth and something I didn't wince when trying. The Pino Grigio was very light with little body and a very small glass to where it was filled to the rim vs space in the glass for it to open up. The food was 2.5-3. We would rate it as bar food that was very 'British' in that it didn't have much depth in flavor or spices and was very 'vanilla'. It tasted fine but nothing was outstanding or memorable. The onion rings are ginormous cut! The jalapeno poppers were decent. The sweet potato fries were not cooked fresh and were very dry (end of the day I suppose). They were out of regular fries and the potato salad was different (had peas and corn) but could've been more fresh. The coleslaw was good. The garlic bread looked very tasty but sadly it was garlic powder or garlic salt so it wasn't what we expected. The ribs and pulled pork was tender but not really smokey. The bbq sauce is very average with no choices of spice. They were out of mozzarella sticks and regular fries, so that was disappointing. The veggie burger was good and flavorful. Messy because the patty is so much bigger than the bun but it would be nice to be able to add avocado or jalapeno's, something to spruce it up a little. The veggie burger with onion rings would be worth coming back for. The atmosphere, phenomenal! All of the Iron Maiden memorobilia was so awesome! That definitely caught my eye! Sadly, they had little to no merchandise I could buy. They said they've been waiting for weeks to get a shipment. We wouldn't return for the food so much. Maybe beer and appetizers but it was nice to go and see all the stuff on the wall. I hope it's a success for him.
