I stopped by this place because it popped up on Apple Maps and I am SO GLAD that I did. The food was amazing and the people are so so kind. Such good customer service. I would most definitely come back to try anything else on the menu. 1000/10

FIVE STARS. GAS STATION? YES. GAS STATION? ALSO YES…read more Let's get something straight. Some of the best food on earth comes from places that look like you shouldn't trust them. Gas stations. Side streets. Tiny counters with three tables and a refrigerator humming in the corner. I saw WhatSub on Yelp and thought, "Alright. Let's see if the hype survives State Road 7." It didn't just survive. It flexed. I am fully on board with five-star gas station cuisine. In fact, I seek it out. And WhatSub doesn't just play the game -- it competes internationally. This place comes dangerously close to Sandwich Master in Turin, Italy. I'm not exaggerating. And it narrowly beats out Generoso's in Coral Springs, which is not an easy feat. The bread? Legit. The meats? Layered like someone actually respects the architecture of a sandwich. The balance? No soggy mess. No overkill. No amateur hour. And then the cannoli. Freshly piped. Not pre-filled. Not sitting there getting sad and humid. Fresh. Filled to order. Shell still crisp. Ricotta smooth and balanced -- not overly sweet, not grainy, not lazy. Best cannoli I've had in South Florida since Lorenzo's in North Miami Beach. That's not a casual comparison. That's a statement. Now let's talk atmosphere. It's technically in a gas station plaza -- and yet the owners and staff are actually speaking Italian behind the counter. Not performative. Not touristy. Just normal conversation like you accidentally stepped into a deli in Torino. It feels real. So real that I went back the next day. And then again. I am not joking. When I ask myself, "What was my favorite thing?" the answer is dangerous: Everything I ordered. Cold subs. Hot subs. Cannoli. Repeat. This is the kind of place you almost don't want to write about because once the word spreads, lines get longer and secrets disappear. But credit where credit is due. WhatSub is proof that greatness doesn't need chandeliers. Sometimes it just needs good bread, proper technique, and someone who actually cares.

Came here because I saw it was a new Italian sub shop near my area. Saw good reviews and wanted to…read moretry it myself. Behind the counter was a husband/wife duo who were the business owners (didn't get their names) who stated they were from Sicily. After much deliberation, I decided to order the Arthur Ave and the Milano. The Arthur Ave is a cold sandwich that had prosciutto, arugula, stracciatella, sun dried tomato. You have a choice of bread from white, wheat rolls, and focaccia. I was informed by the husband the focaccia is made fresh daily by his wife so of course I had to try that. The wife was nice enough to let me try a sample of the prosciutto and I have to say -- it was delicious, so getting it on a sandwich was going to be a no-brainer. The Milano was for my father. Watching them make the sandwich, they put two huge pieces of chicken cutlet, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and freshly sliced mozzarella. Again, I got the focaccia bread. Both sandwich's were drizzled on the top of the focaccia bread with fresh Italian olive oil which was just the cherry on top. I had told the owners it was my first time and we had a great conversation, that they were nice enough to give me and my parents 3 free mini cannolis -- which was completely unexpected and highly appreciated! As far as the food goes, I don't have enough adjectives in my vocabulary to describe how delicious this sandwich was. From the delicious meats, the fresh veggies, and my personal favorite part -- that focaccia bread. I would buy that alone. They had specials on their menu the day I went that was a not on their menu -- a meatball sub and arancini balls. Also, keep in mind, that this shop is inside the Mobil gas station on 441 and SW 18th. There is a sign on the outside of the gas station, but if you're driving by and unsure of the location, I can confirm it is inside the Mobil. Overall, a great experience; delicious food, great people behind the counter. Only caveat I would say is it is a little bit higher price for a sandwich, but with the current economy where a McDonalds burger is over 10 bucks, you truly get what you pay for and that is top quality, fresh and delicious food. Will definitely be coming back here in the future.

They took over an old Subway location in my neighborhood, so I decided to try them out. I ended up ordering their "Gravesend" sandwich with beef, Parmesan cheese and gravy! It was absolutely amazing!!!! Only 7 inside tables (plus some limited outdoor seating), but everybody there was asking patrons at the other tables what they were having. Almost all of them were actively talking about how good their sandwiches were! Besides my sandwich, I took a picture of a sandwich at the next table with chicken and vodka sauce. This is a MUST TRY lunch spot when you're here. They also served an amazing vanilla latte as well! They are also an espresso bar, so try a caffeine drink as well. After I ate, I met and talked to the owner Tony, and he told me the history of his family from Brooklyn, and there are a few pictures hanging on the wall of his family over the years. Tony was working on some crunchy prosciutto which looked a little like bacon, and he gave me a sample, which was also amazing!

We went with a classic Italian sandwich The Godfather, this thing came out massive and me and a friend shared it, which was the perfect amount. Loaded with all the Italian meats, cheese lettuce tomatoes now what threw me off was the hot peppers, I bit in like oh wait these are actually hot! lol I don't know why I was expecting a sweet pepper, it had quite a bit of vinegar flavor too. I thought it would have been better with like a seasoned oil/ vinegar mix on the lettuce. The bread was served warm and seeded which I loved! Very tasty lunch, if I lived closer would explore more of the menu!

Laspada had a lit up sign in the window saying they're "open." I seem to recall Next Door Boca giving them decent reviews. I am a native of Philly, hometown of the hoagie. I thought I'd give this place a try. I ran from my car through the rain and tugged on the door....locked. The door hours say open at 11! So much for the lit "open" sign. They have outdoor metal tables and chairs under an awning. I sat at an outdoor table for ten minutes. I looked through the storefront window at a couple employees prepping and I read the wall menu. A guy unlocked the place at 11. I let a young family and several other guys go ahead of me. Guy at the slicing wheel waited on me. I ordered a small Mama Lastrada turkey & salami on wheat. There's about a half dozen employees behind the counter dealing with the assembly line of customers and sandwiches. Guy at the slicing wheel tells me one of the other guys will work on my sandwich. Okay. However, I can't move down the line because there's customers still lined up ahead of me waiting for their food. Slicing wheel guy looks up at me a minute later and asks what he can get for me. I look back at him waiting for him to recognize me from a minute ago when he already had sliced my order. No recognition! I repeated my order to him. Now he remembers me! He again refers me to one of his junior sandwich prep guys. I overheard him telling a busy junior guy, "This is just a small Mama on wheat" or something like that. Still, I can't go down the line because there's guy ahead of me had placed an order for 3 sandwiches. I swear to you that the slicing wheel guy asks me for a THIRD time for my order! By this time, I felt like I was in a Monty Python sketch. I repeated my order. Again, he refers me to a third junior associate (Manny, Moe, and Jack)? Finally, a young associate asked me for toppings. I had noticed two lettuce bins. One bin looked fine. The other looked a little brown. I decided to skip the lettuce rather than ask him to pick from the left hand bin and embarrass them. I also saw a black speck in the onion bin. It probably was nothing but I decided to skip onions just to be safe. I chose tomatoes, Swiss cheese, pickles and sweet peppers. The debit card reader asks if I want to tip. I skipped that. Price was reasonable. Hoagie was okay. The roll was soggy. Philly hoagie shops pride themselves on their rolls. I understand this is Florida, not Philly. I can appreciate this place is popular and busy. However, being asked for my order 3 times by the same experienced worker there left me feeling less than special as a customer.

Unfortunately, the seating and service experience left a lot to be desired. The staff didn't seem to manage the seating efficiently. Our group of 6 was told we couldn't sit indoors because there weren't enough tables available, even though several round tables inside were sitting empty. If smaller groups had been seated at those round tables instead, the square tables could have easily been pushed together to accommodate our party. We ended up sitting outside in 93-degree heat with three young children. There was almost no natural shade (not even one full table was shaded on the entire patio) and no umbrellas or sun shades. It was so hot that we actually had to take the kids into the bathroom at one point just to cool down for a few minutes. On top of that, drink refills were infrequent, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. The food was excellent, but better seating management and more attentive service would have made a huge difference, especially for families with young children.

If sandwiches had a Hall of Fame, this place would have a first-ballot plaque and its own highlight…read morereel. Walking into LaSpada's Original Hoagies isn't just ordering lunch, it's stepping into a deli version of a live sporting event. There's energy, there's precision, and yes, there's the legendary "airmail" toss of freshly sliced meat flying down the line like it's got somewhere important to be. Blink and you miss it. Smile and you're part of it. I went with my go-to: the Italian. And not just any Italian... this thing shows up dressed to impress. We're talking Boar's Head ham, cappy, pastrami, and provolone, sliced fresh right in front of you, then launched with deli theatrics onto perfectly waiting Italian bread. From there, it gets piled high with crisp veggies and those Italian peppers that quietly steal the show. Every bite hits like it's been rehearsing for years. Somewhere around bite three, I had a moment of clarity: "This isn't a sandwich... it's a commitment." Plot twist... you think you're just grabbing lunch. You're not. You're entering into a multi-meal agreement. A large sub here doesn't just feed you, it sticks with you. Lunch today, lunch tomorrow, maybe a late-night "just one more bite" situation. It's generous in a way that feels personal. My wife ordered the roast beef, and wow. Perfectly rare, ridiculously tender, sliced fresh and yes, sent flying down the line like it had a boarding pass. It was the kind of sandwich that makes you reconsider your own order mid-bite. Quick detour, because it deserves it... the homemade macaroni salad. I don't throw this around lightly, but I'd put it up against anyone's for best in class. Creamy, balanced, and somehow disappears faster than you expect. That's not an accident. And then you remember... this place took home "Best Sub in South Florida" from the Sun-Sentinel in 2025. Not surprising. Honestly, it feels overdue. Micro twist: you walk in thinking you'll try something new next time. You won't. You'll be back for the same order, and you'll be happy about it. After 25+ years in Coral Springs, they're not just consistent, they're automatic. The kind of place where you don't wonder if it'll be good... you just decide how hungry you are. Highest recommendation. Five stars, no hesitation. Final thought: Some places make sandwiches. LaSpada's Original Hoagies makes believers.

The first location was at Lauderdale By The Sea in Ft Lauderdale that I went to when I was younger. The Coral Springs location is close to me so I usually visit that one. It never disappoints because the hoagies are made to order with many toppings to choose from. The hoagies are piled high and come in 2 sizes. The sweet peppers are the best and are brought in from Chester, PA. The options of breads are wheat or white and always are soft and flavorful. My go to hoagie is the Turkey on wheat. The meats are sliced fresh to order right in front behind the topping station. The service is quick in making the sandwiches. You can also order over the phone or online for pickup. I always feel welcome. There is a small amount of seating. It's mostly a quick to go shop. Definitely will be back!
