This may not look like it. But this is the best sub place within a 30 mile radius.
    Alejandro B.

This is one of the easier 5 stars I've had an opinion about. Not a 4.9, or 4.3 or somewhere in the middle where i'd briefly consider a 4, it's a 5. 100% My only regret is that it took me a few seconds to come in because it's located at a gas station. Gas station food can slap or be cringe, but I'm super glad I went in, in fact that's probably the biggest highlight of the month for me if not year. I usually beat around the bush and talk about ambience, prices, cleanliness or customer service. Lets cut straight to the point. This is the best sub I've had in Florida. I've possibly had better in NJ, This isn't the cure to cancer. but it's the cure to shi* subs in florida. BEST sub in florida for sure. This is the best discovery I've found. The quality of the bread is next-level. I can't think of another sub shop who has anything close to this. Pictures never do bread justice but if you experience it you'll know what I mean. Not sure if I'm allowed to name other businesses here but Jersey M's and La Spad's are top in their game around here and this place is very easily way better than them. I mean not even a close competition. I think it's both the bread and the love that goes into it. Not many spots in FL have good bread nor add love. Somehow I went wanting a turkey sub, when I was there I wanted a turkey sub, but David who worked there who i suspect owns the place or manages it talked me into the best decision I've made this year. Which is the Arthur Ave with added chicken. Hats off to David, he clearly adds to the experience. He was funny, professional, dedicated to the business and really wanted the customer to have the best experience. If David himself reads this, please believe you definitely added to the experience, and thank you for the best sub I've had in a very long time. Prices aren't "cheap", but where is cheap these days? Dollar stores charge more than a dollar, Subway's $5 footlongs are $13. A 5 dollar bill is basically the new 1 dollar bill. Dont expect a $5 footlong, but expect the best sub your taste buds have seen in a long time. And upon further thought, Panera bread = $12+, Subway 12+, I'm not dissing them or their quality or value...But lets be honest..... THIS PLACE ROCKS in comparison for similar money. If you're reading this and considering it, Just do it. You wont regret it. I got a "Arthur Ave" and my roommate got the Meatball. But without going into specific details of ingredients or quality, I firmly believe anything you get from here will be the definition of outstanding.

Best sandwich bread in South Florida arthur avenue level. Today was my third visit in a month. Two Italian combos. But today a chicken parmigiana with vodka sauce. Excellent. Nice guys own it. Inside of a mobile gas station. Go figure.

    Arthur Ave

My brother and I just visited What'Sub and had one of the best food experiences we've had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the guys working there were incredibly friendly and welcoming--it genuinely felt like we were being taken care of by family. They took the time to chat with us and recommended a couple of sandwiches that ended up being out of this world--honestly some of the best subs I've ever had. Everything tasted super fresh, from the bread to the toppings, and you could really tell they care about what they're serving. As if that wasn't enough, they even threw in two free cannolis, which were absolutely delicious and the perfect sweet finish. Great food, great people, and an atmosphere that feels like home--What'Sub is definitely a new favorite. We'll 100% be back!

Fully loaded, substituted provolone for straciatella added arugula

I was SO excited to try this new place. Even more excited I work near their original location. I opted for a remixed fully loaded (added straciatella and arugula.) everything tasted authentic with the right balance of sweetness from balsamic, softness of the bread, salt from the meat touched by bitter arugula and peppers.

    Buto chicken sandwich

This 5 star review is from our experience at the What Sub gas station location. PLEASE DO NOT be turned away by the fact that the Boca location is in a gas station! This is without a doubt the best Italian sandwich in South Florida, the Arthur Ave on focaccia was perfect! Fresh focaccia with imported Italian meats, mozzarella, and a touch of sweetness from the balsamic vinaigrette. Since it was our first time, Davide did not want us to miss out on any of the experience so he first allowed us to sample the prosciutto di Parma, which is part of the Arthur Ave sandwich, and threw in 2 cannolis, handmade in front of us, with our order because we simply could not leave without them. We also got the Buto, chicken cutlet with vodka and pesto. Both sandwiches were exceptional to go along with the excellent service and care from this crew. I highly recommend this shop and can't wait to get to their Deerfield Beach location!

    The butto and fully loaded

This is my new go to spot ...the people are great the service sandwiches are incredible and the girl in there makes meatballs that are a 10 I'm there atleast 2 times a week and I live in Wellington they are so good I make that run

Chicken Parm on seeded bread (right) and Arthur Ave on focaccia (left)

I've never had such good sandwiches as I've had here, I don't care who says what. I personally am a chef who takes pride in my Italian sandwiches with my own homemade bread and everything but when I tell you this sandwich blew my mind... there was nothing that compares. Everyone says, and I agree as well, the gas station scared me but when I met David and the crew as well as when my food met my mouth... I saw heaven. David and everyone personally tends to your service and food, making sure you're happy. If there's a problem, they'll fix it, if it's perfect, they still want to know what they can do better, and if it's okay, you're lying and your palette hasn't matured yet. It feels like a true hole in the wall that you recommend to everyone you know and it blows their expectations right out of the water too. The pride that is taken into making these sandwiches is unmatched and David is truly a dog that man is the best and made the food taste that much better with how he treated us. Went with my buddy who saw it online and I will say it was beyond what we expected from what we heard. I got the chicken parm on seeded bread with slopssssss of pesto and it was so good, my buddy got the Arthur Ave and both were insane. He will make you try it in front of him and I was worried at first but when I took that first bite I knew I was being taken care of like a baby in a rocker. I can't speak enough on the food and I definitely can't speak enough on the people who work there. Truly hard working amazing people who will do anything to make sure you're happy. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE LOCATION because the food destroys any hesitation. From one chef to another, you are the man David! PS if there's a way to contact you directly I'd love to for a multitude of reasons!

They took over an old Subway location in my neighborhood, so I decided to try them out. I ended up ordering their "Gravesend" sandwich with beef, Parmesan cheese and gravy! It was absolutely amazing!!!! Only 7 inside tables (plus some limited outdoor seating), but everybody there was asking patrons at the other tables what they were having. Almost all of them were actively talking about how good their sandwiches were! Besides my sandwich, I took a picture of a sandwich at the next table with chicken and vodka sauce. This is a MUST TRY lunch spot when you're here. They also served an amazing vanilla latte as well! They are also an espresso bar, so try a caffeine drink as well. After I ate, I met and talked to the owner Tony, and he told me the history of his family from Brooklyn, and there are a few pictures hanging on the wall of his family over the years. Tony was working on some crunchy prosciutto which looked a little like bacon, and he gave me a sample, which was also amazing!

We went with a classic Italian sandwich The Godfather, this thing came out massive and me and a friend shared it, which was the perfect amount. Loaded with all the Italian meats, cheese lettuce tomatoes now what threw me off was the hot peppers, I bit in like oh wait these are actually hot! lol I don't know why I was expecting a sweet pepper, it had quite a bit of vinegar flavor too. I thought it would have been better with like a seasoned oil/ vinegar mix on the lettuce. The bread was served warm and seeded which I loved! Very tasty lunch, if I lived closer would explore more of the menu!

Laspada had a lit up sign in the window saying they're "open." I seem to recall Next Door Boca giving them decent reviews. I am a native of Philly, hometown of the hoagie. I thought I'd give this place a try. I ran from my car through the rain and tugged on the door....locked. The door hours say open at 11! So much for the lit "open" sign. They have outdoor metal tables and chairs under an awning. I sat at an outdoor table for ten minutes. I looked through the storefront window at a couple employees prepping and I read the wall menu. A guy unlocked the place at 11. I let a young family and several other guys go ahead of me. Guy at the slicing wheel waited on me. I ordered a small Mama Lastrada turkey & salami on wheat. There's about a half dozen employees behind the counter dealing with the assembly line of customers and sandwiches. Guy at the slicing wheel tells me one of the other guys will work on my sandwich. Okay. However, I can't move down the line because there's customers still lined up ahead of me waiting for their food. Slicing wheel guy looks up at me a minute later and asks what he can get for me. I look back at him waiting for him to recognize me from a minute ago when he already had sliced my order. No recognition! I repeated my order to him. Now he remembers me! He again refers me to one of his junior sandwich prep guys. I overheard him telling a busy junior guy, "This is just a small Mama on wheat" or something like that. Still, I can't go down the line because there's guy ahead of me had placed an order for 3 sandwiches. I swear to you that the slicing wheel guy asks me for a THIRD time for my order! By this time, I felt like I was in a Monty Python sketch. I repeated my order. Again, he refers me to a third junior associate (Manny, Moe, and Jack)? Finally, a young associate asked me for toppings. I had noticed two lettuce bins. One bin looked fine. The other looked a little brown. I decided to skip the lettuce rather than ask him to pick from the left hand bin and embarrass them. I also saw a black speck in the onion bin. It probably was nothing but I decided to skip onions just to be safe. I chose tomatoes, Swiss cheese, pickles and sweet peppers. The debit card reader asks if I want to tip. I skipped that. Price was reasonable. Hoagie was okay. The roll was soggy. Philly hoagie shops pride themselves on their rolls. I understand this is Florida, not Philly. I can appreciate this place is popular and busy. However, being asked for my order 3 times by the same experienced worker there left me feeling less than special as a customer.

Unfortunately, the seating and service experience left a lot to be desired. The staff didn't seem to manage the seating efficiently. If smaller groups had been seated at those round tables instead, the square tables could have easily been pushed together to accommodate our party. We ended up sitting outside in 93-degree heat with three young children. There was almost no natural shade (not even one full table was shaded on the entire patio) and no umbrellas or sun shades. It was so hot that we actually had to take the kids into the bathroom at one point just to cool down for a few minutes. On top of that, drink refills were infrequent, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. The food was excellent, but better seating management and more attentive service would have made a huge difference, especially for families with young children.

If sandwiches had a Hall of Fame, this place would have a first-ballot plaque and its own highlight…read morereel. Walking into LaSpada's Original Hoagies isn't just ordering lunch, it's stepping into a deli version of a live sporting event. There's energy, there's precision, and yes, there's the legendary "airmail" toss of freshly sliced meat flying down the line like it's got somewhere important to be. Blink and you miss it. Smile and you're part of it. I went with my go-to: the Italian. And not just any Italian... this thing shows up dressed to impress. We're talking Boar's Head ham, cappy, pastrami, and provolone, sliced fresh right in front of you, then launched with deli theatrics onto perfectly waiting Italian bread. From there, it gets piled high with crisp veggies and those Italian peppers that quietly steal the show. Every bite hits like it's been rehearsing for years. Somewhere around bite three, I had a moment of clarity: "This isn't a sandwich... it's a commitment." Plot twist... you think you're just grabbing lunch. You're not. You're entering into a multi-meal agreement. A large sub here doesn't just feed you, it sticks with you. Lunch today, lunch tomorrow, maybe a late-night "just one more bite" situation. It's generous in a way that feels personal. My wife ordered the roast beef, and wow. Perfectly rare, ridiculously tender, sliced fresh and yes, sent flying down the line like it had a boarding pass. It was the kind of sandwich that makes you reconsider your own order mid-bite. Quick detour, because it deserves it... the homemade macaroni salad. I don't throw this around lightly, but I'd put it up against anyone's for best in class. Creamy, balanced, and somehow disappears faster than you expect. That's not an accident. And then you remember... this place took home "Best Sub in South Florida" from the Sun-Sentinel in 2025. Not surprising. Honestly, it feels overdue. Micro twist: you walk in thinking you'll try something new next time. You won't. You'll be back for the same order, and you'll be happy about it. After 25+ years in Coral Springs, they're not just consistent, they're automatic. The kind of place where you don't wonder if it'll be good... you just decide how hungry you are. Highest recommendation. Five stars, no hesitation. Final thought: Some places make sandwiches. LaSpada's Original Hoagies makes believers.

The sweet peppers are the best and are brought in from Chester, PA. The options of breads are wheat or white and always are soft and flavorful. My go to hoagie is the Turkey on wheat. The meats are sliced fresh to order right in front behind the topping station. The service is quick in making the sandwiches. You can also order over the phone or online for pickup.
